  1. Here is more information from the Joplin Globe. I haven't looked at a map, so I'm not sure where they are talking about. It is a great little river but it really struggles with the way that it's treated sometimes. June 3, 2010 Dead chickens pulled from creek Staff Writer Globe Staff Writer WASHBURN, Mo. — Authorities are investigating the illegal dumping of several hundred dead chickens in Flat Creek northeast of Washburn. Mick Epperly, sheriff of Barry County, said the county and the Missouri Department of Natural Resources are investigating. The chickens were dumped at a bridge on Rarm Road No. 1085, south of Farm Road No. 2212, Epperly said. “There were hundreds of them. Dumping into a creek bed is definitely a no-no,’’ he said. Epperly said the incident probably occurred on May 29. It was discovered by a Washburn resident on May 30. Epperly said Dave Compton, emergency management coordinator for Barry County, was notified. Compton contacted the clean-up crew with George’s poultry, which has a processing plant near Cassville. “They were out that weekend. It was a matter of hours before they got it all cleaned up,’’ Epperly said. “They started the cleanup as soon as the phone calls were made.’’ Epperly said George’s is working to determine from whose farm the chickens came. “It’s a matter of determining which grower will come up short on their count,’’ he said.

(AP) - Barry County officials say several hundred dead chickens were dumped into a creek in southwest Missouri. Barry County Sheriff Mick Epperly says the chickens were found May 30 in Flat Creek northeast of Washburn. Officials believe the animals were dumped from a bridge on May 29. The Joplin Globe reports that Epperly says there were hundreds of chickens in the creek. He says it took a clean-up crew from a nearby processing plant hours to remove the chickens from the water. 3. As bad as I hate to I will agree with wrench. And as long as you don't raise your seats all the way to the top and have a drunk wheatenhiemer in the front they are very stable. I have had my two oldest daughters in mine and it's never been a problem. My oldest is bigger than your wife, and at 5' 10" she is probably taller than you. They will hold a ton of gear and great boat to solo in on an overnight float. I can, and do, take a lot of stuff.
  4. Pay no attention to Eric, he's kind of annoying like that. In my mind they all get thrown into the perch category even though I know they are not. I guess it's what I always called them and always will.
  5. Don't know if they have a website but the phone number to the marina is 417-833-2058. They won't let you put that 250hp on there.
  6. I don't see an option for Hell No!
  7. I think most of them do this. But some may not say anything just to make their customer happy. I know my customer's do things that make me upset, but they are the customer and the customer is "always" right.
  8. You are right on Phil. But this should have been post #6. Everyone should play by the same rules.
  9. So I'll ask it again. If everyone is so concerned about protecting the big spawners, why don't you close the lake to tournaments during the spawn. I know that most that are on here are great guys that are really concerned about the lake. But you are also the same guys that freak out about anybody keeping a bass, and then you say it not about being legal, it's about being ethical. So why doesn't ethics kick in when you hold a tournament and you know that guys are out there dragging fish off beds, throwing them in a live well, and driving around the lake at 70 mph looking for more? Oh I know, because big bags of fish bring big bags of cash to the area!! It's okay if a few die if it's done in the name of the almighty dollar. Do you guys work for the government?
  10. The only ones that should be apologizing are the ones that act like this is their own personal lake. My god guys you can be compassionate about it but there is no reason to act like an butt. What he did was legal, if you don't like it either keep your mouth shut or join Peta. People can be addressed on the benefits about catch and release without members of the juice crowd acting like a little babies. I don't hear you guys whining about people sight fishing in tournaments. You guys wanna make a difference then work to get the tournaments closed during the spawn. But we can't do that because we like tournaments (I am in this group) and we make a living off of the extra business it brings in. That's nothing to be ashamed of, it's what you do to live. But you can't just blast a guy for doing something that is legal. Come on Bill, you are better than that.
  11. I think the Sage Bass series really excels in lawn casting. I have casted the smallmouth rod and it was good, but I think I could get the same for less. A lot of the guys that have fished with them don't think they are all that great and you see a tone of used ones for sale.
  12. I thought the same thing.
  13. That used to be the big thing.....how big a rooster tail your boat would throw. It's not as bad as what it used to be but you still see a few out there. This guys biggest problem was that he didn't know when to let off of the throttle. Either that or he was using a hot foot and couldn't get his foot out of it. One thing about boats running those speeds if you get out of it they slow down in a hurry. It's guys like this that give the other guys that do enjoy a fast boat a bad name. You CAN do it safely.
  14. bragger. One of these days I'm going to ruin your summer and come up and fish for a week. I have to get there. Have a great summer and watch out for those bears.

  18. Growing up in Oklahoma it seemed everybody knew what they were, there was even a song. I haven't met anyone in the Ozarks that knew what they were.
  19. I agree with that. Put a gurgler on there and I'm done.
  20. Just saw this in the Springfield New Leader. Glad it finally gout out there.
