Here is more information from the Joplin Globe. I haven't looked at a map, so I'm not sure where they are talking about. It is a great little river but it really struggles with the way that it's treated sometimes.

Dead chickens pulled from creek

WASHBURN, Mo. — Authorities are investigating the illegal dumping of several hundred dead chickens in Flat Creek northeast of Washburn.
Mick Epperly, sheriff of Barry County, said the county and the Missouri Department of Natural Resources are investigating.
The chickens were dumped at a bridge on Rarm Road No. 1085, south of Farm Road No. 2212, Epperly said.
“There were hundreds of them. Dumping into a creek bed is definitely a no-no,’’ he said.
Epperly said the incident probably occurred on May 29. It was discovered by a Washburn resident on May 30.
Epperly said Dave Compton, emergency management coordinator for Barry County, was notified. Compton contacted the clean-up crew with George’s poultry, which has a processing plant near Cassville.
“They were out that weekend. It was a matter of hours before they got it all cleaned up,’’ Epperly said. “They started the cleanup as soon as the phone calls were made.’’
Epperly said George’s is working to determine from whose farm the chickens came.
“It’s a matter of determining which grower will come up short on their count,’’ he said.
