  1. A klinkhammer is basically a midge with a parapost. pattern for klinkhammer I inserted a link to the pattern. Great fly!
  2. Just posted one....your gonna like it!
  3. Started calling the generation hot line at 9 a.m. and called every half hour or so untill I heard the words I was wanting to hear.....0 units at 11:20 a.m. Already had everything ready to go and in the truck, so all I had to do was hop in the truck and take off. When I arrived at the hatchery parking lot the water level was still 703 and dropping. Headed down to the flats between 1 and 2. The fish were biting good on white chammy worms and sow bugs while the water was dropping out. Caught 12 or thirteen including one nice buck that taped out at 20 inches. The midges started coming off so I tried changing it up a little bit. Swung a soft hackle and picked up a few then chanded to a cracleback....nothing. Changed to a klinkhammer and it was on! Caught several top water with the Klink then decided to head down below #2. Never made it past outlet 2. Stopped to say howdy to a feller I knew and chatted with him for a bit. Met Brian Schaffer.....Nice meeting you Brian...and then Phil showed up with his camera. Hope it shows up on the camera because if it did, it should be neat to see. Great day on the water. Hope they keep the cycle up of shutting the water off for a little while during the day.
  4. I'm on my way out the door. They just shut the water off againg!
  5. Hey guys, As you can tell...I never got to see the flies, but they must have been some good ones! You dont have to worry about replacing flies for me. Wont get much warm water fishing in this year anyways... I know Terry just felt aweful about the deal. Karma has a way of taking care of things like that. Hope the fella using them wears some safety glasses while fishing them....
  6. Welcome to the forum!
  7. Thanks guys. Had a great day....got some fishing in...they shut the water down for a bit on Taney....caught 2 browns that went right around 3 pounds each....Did Get Out Fished My DD'sMC though....she will have to make up for that later.
  8. I think it is hwy F off of 65 headed towards Forsyth that crosses Bull Creek. Turkey Creek across from the Landing might provide some wading opportunities also. You can wade below Powersite dam on upper Bull Shoals. Roark Creek might give you some places to wade fish also and that is right by the Landing. I have caught a few trout in Beaver Creek and Swan Creek this time of year, but not many. Hope that gives you some ideas.
  9. I tied up a "Patriot" fly for the contest then relized there was a specific pattern for it on the bulletin sent out by email....Mine does not quite match what we were supposed to tie accourding to that, but I'll submit it anyways
  10. It's gonna be some fun. Starting to get real excited about heading back up to Alaska!
  11. I always used the 80# braided line and it would cast great with anything from 2-6 ounces. 65# would snap in the force of casting sometimes. 80# will break at the knot every time if you get hung on the bottom. Just get the line tight, then a sharp yank will cause the line to cut itself at the knot. Anything larger than that is too hard to break from the bank.
  12. Nice catch! Glad to see you are taking advantage of some fishing close to home. Enjoy them!
  13. Glad you liked it......You should have held out for the new and improved version!!!!!
  14. I will be teaching how to tie the new and improved "Crocheted Crawdad" this evening. Class starts at 7:00 p.m. You dont want to miss this fly..... Looks like the water may be off after class...We're gonna try and get some fishing in when tying is done. Oh, I'll have pizza again. Hope to see some of you there.
  15. I have to be in Dillingham by the 15th of May
  16. Have not been to BSSP since opening day last year....
  17. Welcome back Trav
  18. Yep, my arm is a little sore today Was able to cover a lot of water the way I wanted to with the long rod though....I finally found a good use for my spey rod...chuckin and duckin and some polish nymphing.
  19. Yep, nice seeing ya'll down there. I caught some fish too. Only one lunker to hand though. Peach eggs, olive sowbugs and cased caddis worked real good for me on the smaller fish. The bigger ones really liked the rabbit hair leaches made with dubbing loops rather than palmering rabbit strips. They stole every one that I had made. "Chucking n Ducking" worked really well for me down there. Got the flies down fast. My hook set was a little strong for that 12 foot rod though. Lost several nice ones on the hook set yesterday.
  20. I will be there on Sunday. I'm bringing a small gas grill and some hot dogs or brats or something along that line. Feel free to stop by and get some grub around lunch time.
  21. I'll be down there...dont know if it will be Sat. or Sun. yet.
  22. I use to live in St. Charles Hills Subdivision. Would walk down to Hwy B then go down the old Haffer Bridge Rd. Would fish there where the old bridge was and all the flood waters around it. Use to have to leave a buck in a box to fish there. They've put in some new Super Highway system there now...I think it is called 370???? Where Hwy B crosses Dardenne Creek, there use to be a bar/tavern that would sell bait also. I think they rented jon boats for $3. Bought a lot of worms and 3.2 beer from there.
  23. Same creek, I just miss-spelled it.
  24. I use to bow fish out there. Lots of carp and some gar. There are some big ponds below Alton Lock and Dam. Some fun fishing below the Lock and Dam on the river too. Sauger, walleye, and whites. Good place for spoonbill. Late March the buffalo will stack right below the dam next to the bank. They can be fun. The asian carp are thick in there too. Try catching them on an ultra light with just a small jig. Smokin Hot! Dardeen Creek is another place I spent a lot of time growing up. Use to catch everything in there from bass to carp.
