  1. The only thing I do different to them (slumpbusters) is I use a dubbing loop with SLF instead of the flash that Barr uses on the body. I also use 3 wraps of fur for the collar to make sure it seats all the way under the cone when finishing.
  2. Here's the link to the recipe on this site..........slumpbuster Silver bullets are small rainbows that have just been stocked by the hatchery
  3. Scheduled generation was predicted to be at zero units at midnight so DD'sMC and I went to bed early and set the alarm for 11:30 p.m. We got to the parking lot at midnight thirty and the water was off but still high. Went to the flats between outlet one and outlet 2 and fished for a couple of hours waiting for the water to drop out. I caught 2 real nice bows on a slumpbuster and another silver bullet. The water still had not dropped out all the way but we decided to head down to the Big Hole and Point. The Point was still under about a foot of water but I did manage to pick up a silver bullet on my first cast down there. Fished for another hour or so and the water was still at 702.8 and only picked up 3 more fish. Went back up the the flats to try and get the skunk off DD'sMC. She spent about 30 minutes up there stripping streamers before finally getting a solid hook up and a fish to hand. Pretty slow fishing considering the water was off, but hey, we were fishing...
  4. Nice!
  5. If they happen to shut the water off for you and you get to wade fish during the day.... cracklebacks, soft hackles, sowbugs, scuds, midges, san juan worms, pine squirrel sculpins, wooley buggers, copper johns, and renegades. Water off during the night....... Pine squirrel sculpins, wooley buggers, slumpbusters, and sow bugs. Running water and fishing from a boat.... Marabou jigs, san juan worms, crackle backs, soft hackles.
  6. Usually one good stomp to the left foot makes me forget all about my back pain.
  7. A closer look at the 2nd picture and it does resemble the hog nosed snake. If you play with them long enough and the spreading of the hood doesnt foil you, then they will turn belly up and play dead.
  8. I have found hog nosed snakes there or some people call them spreading adders. They are frog and toad eaters. That one doesnt look like the hog nosed snakes I have seen at Busch Wildlife Area though.
  9. Caught a few on Taylor Shoals this morning, but it is winding down fast. Only 3 big males and 10 or 15 small ones. I did see a guy catch 2 spawned out females above the shoals. Taylor Shoals is south of Galena or down river from Galena. Take 248 up the hill out of Galena. The 2nd road on the Left is Blunk Road. Go down Blunk Road and there is a boat launch there. Go up river about 1/2 mile from there to the big bend. That is Taylor Shoals.
  10. I was just telling you that you are #1
  11. Got on the shoal pretty early and caught huge numbers of small males. Did get to put 8 big males on a stringer though. There are some bonus fish up on the shoal to play with right now. Big gar are up in there spawning. Caught 2 of them about 4 1/2 foot long on the flyrod this morning. They sure are fun to fight. Heard there were some big sows caught last night down at Blunk. Waiting for DD'sMC to get home from work and tying a few more grey and white clousers up then heading back down for the evening bite.
  12. Fished Taylor Shoal last night with DD'sMC and caught small males on just about every cast. Only brought two big males to hand in 2 hours of fishing. Water is stained and perfect for fishing right now.
  13. I like the hand gestures idea....We could just flip everybody the bird and if we get our butts beat or shot at you know it wasnt an OAF'r
  14. I fished Swan and Beaver yesterday morning. Only picked up one small male. Went over to the James at Taylor shoals last night with DD'sMC and we caugh bunches of small males on just about every cast. Only picked up 2 males that were nice sized in the 2 hours we fished.
  15. We need to start a thread on what the Kyle's could name their new baby... Boy names... Brandon Iron Justin Thyme Moe Harry Girl Names.... Misty River Congratulations to the Kyle's
  16. Got a report today that the water has gone way down again and started clearing up pretty good. People were catching whites on Taylor Shoals. Did not hear what sizes though.
  17. From the dam take 265 to 76 east then 465 north to 65. Go under 65 and the road turns into hwy F. Follow F to 160 and go east to Forsythe. Go through Forsythe and down the hill. When you cross the bridge that is Swan Creek and there is a park there with public access. To get to Beaver keep going past Swan on 160. As you come up the next hill the speed limit changes back down to 45 mph and 160 turns off east between 2 gas stations at the top of the hill. Keep going east on 160 through Kissee Mills and down the hill. The next bridge you cross is Beaver Creek with a park and public access. We have been crossing Beaver Creek and taking the next road after the bridge on the right which is Slough Hollow. Follow it down and you will see the public access down there where Beaver Creek meets up with the road.
  18. I've been fishing size 4 and 6 grey and white clousers on a 12 foot sinking leader. I imagine a 150 grain sinking tip would work also.
  19. That is a hawg!

    Practice

I like the relocation link Gotta try that!
  21. With the water running there are not going to be many place open to wade fishing above Fall Creek. There are a couple of spots on the South side you might be able to wade a little bit and then the outlets are always crowded during high water. One or two spots along the trail can be wadeable during high water also.

  23. Fished Beaver Creek yesterday afternoon. Water temp was 57 degrees and stained. The color is perfect for fishing right now. Caught small to average males on just about every cast for 3 1/2 hours straight using 12 ft sinking leaders and grey and white clouser minnows on the fly rod up above the tin whistles where the water starts to slow down after the shoal. Today and this evening should be great fishing over there.
  24. Not as many as there was awhile ago !
