Got an early start this morning and left the house with boat in tow around 7:30 heading for Flat Creek. I wanted to put in at Flat Creek Resort because the ramp is not too steep and I knew all the ramps in the area would still have snow on them. Pulled down to the ramp and the water was solid all the way to the bridge. Did a drive through and headed back over to the Bridgeport area to launch. Temp gauge on the truck was reading 10 degrees. Slide down the ramp, got the boat launched and even managed to get the trailer out of the water and vehicle parked. Now for the fun part, boating up to Flat Creek. Decided to get the boat ride over as fast as possible and paid for that with some serious brain freeze. Started finding crappie in about 16-18 feet of water with in 30 minutes of being there, but they were all shorts. Took over an hour to catch my first keeper, but was staying busy catching lots of shorts and a few spots. Started moving around looking for another school of fish to play with about noon and started finding some better fish in 20-22 feet of water. Pretty much, right in the channel. Did manage one nice large mouth and one short smally today also. Ended up keeping 12 today, but had lots of fun. Only saw one other boat and a canoe today. Most fish came on black, tuxedo, or black and chartuese Bobby Garlands with 1/16th oz jig heads. It ended up warming up to be a real nice day on the water.
