  1. Scott, killing a couple of birds with you would have been cool, but I really just wanted to go and pick your brain about deep water hunting. See how you do things as far as setting up and hiding. We will have to get together and hunt next season
  2. Good report. Glad you got into some on Bull Shoals. I've only hunted that area 4 times this season. Only had one good day there in November.
  3. Have not made a report in a couple of days. Been real busy hunting and taking care of some business. Cold front came through the other day. Thought the hunting would be great in some corn fields up by Mt Vernon, Missouri, so a couple of buddies and I headed up that way on Thursday morning. Temps were stinking cold, wind was gusting up to 40 and the snow was coming in sideways. Saw 6 birds at a distance. Packed everything up and headed to Turn Back Creek on Stockton Lake. Got the big goose egg there too. Friday morning hunted over by the dam on Table Rock with a buddy and we got one greenhead and a hooded merganser. Was supposed to hunt Beaver Lake in Arkansas on Saturday with Fins and Feathers but on my way out the door on Friday afternoon to go get my Arkansas licenses, my wife informed me of some unexpected buisness that would have to be taken care of. Hated to cancel out on Scott at the last minute like that. Did get to hunt for just a couple of hours. Hunted close to the house on TR and ended up with 2 mallards, a golden eye and a goose. Did a morning and afternoon hunt today on the Rock. This morning was interesting. Had a red fox come in. He got a little to close and some #2 steel took care of him. Got one greenhead this morning. The last couple of morning before it gets light out, I have been jumping some geese off the roost. This afternoon I decided to hunt the roosting spot to see if I couple help put some birds to sleep. 15 min before sunset, 3 geese came in and 2 went to sleep
  4. Ok, I'm in. Duck season is over the end of Jan. so I figure that will give me a week to tie some up. I'll go with my Depth Charges that I like to fish polish nymph style on Crane Creek.
  5. Sliced up some goose breast the other day for poppers and its been in the special marinade for 2 days now. Took a couple of the fillets and pounded them out with a meat tenderizer (big spikey hammer thing) then dusted them in some flour and seasoning and flash fried them in butter......There is no longer enough left to make poppers. One of my new favorites. The special marinade... 1 can Mt Dew 1/2 cup soy 1/2 cup worcestershire sauce 2 tblsp lime juice You gotta try it Marty!
  6. Haha. You cant forget him. The four of us have really been sharing the stories this year. Wish we could get some more action in the migratory bird section.
  7. Called Winchester on Monday and told them the problem. They sent me at no charge a new bolt handle and it just got here today. The SX3 is back in business. I asked them what a spare would cost and they quoted me $18.75 plus shipping and handling. Think I'm gonna order a couple of more to keep in the gun cases just in case.
  8. Nice Can. where did you get him?
  9. Welcome to the forum. See ya on the water some time
  10. Yep that's the third time this year that has happened
  11. I love messing with the sandhills in Alaska. Looking forward to Sept 1st when they come back in season again up there.
  12. Hunted the Rock again this morning. It was slow but better than the last 3 no bird days. Had a group of 4 mallards take a look first thing this morning. One of them decided to Peel off the group and commit. I missed. Messed around with some golden eye and dropped 2 then had another single mallard swinging by to take a look. Quacked at him 3 times and he spun right around and locked in. Awesome! Just the way its supposed to happen. Had a bunch of goose decoys out and some fart smeller motored right up to them in a pontoon boat like he was putting the "sneak" in them. I think he was fixin to take a poke at em till he saw me????
  13. Looks like another great float. I seen Jack Roy and the boys made it this year. I'm gonna have to go on one of them someday. Too busy duck hunting this year
  14. Welcome. Looking forward to hearing about your Taney adventures

  17. The only way I could log on was by hitting the reply button on this thread. It then gave the message that I did not have permission to reply and I was then able to click on the link to log on below the message. Cannot click on the sign in bar.
  18. Sounds like you had a great time. The picture is awesome. I got the goose egg again this morning. Did not get to hunt to long because I'm taking my girlfriend to Springfield. She may have found a new home.
  19. Im in for that for sure. It be great to get together with some of you guys on a hunt or two next season
  20. Sure is a nice one!
  21. I like the Browning set up better. The Winchester sx3 20 gushes are like the Browning. I wonder why they made the 12 guages.friction
  22. I had it fall out one other time right after cleaning it. I cleaned it last night and just forgot to double check to see if it was seated properly. Other than that, I love the gun. I will get a couple of spares to put in the gun case to keep me from being on the sidelines again
  23. Ill let you know by Thursday. If I'm in
  24. Fins and Feathers gave me the idea of the pontoons. They are expanding foam filled 3 inch thin walled PVC. Would rather them be 6 inch but I could not find any thin walled 6 inch
  25. 12 dozen...I haven't put out a spread that big in years. Sounds like a good time. What's the non resident tags for one day cost in Arkansas?
