  1. DD'sMC works at the Chateau and she had to work today. Since we got another 3+ inches of snow last night, I decided to drive her to work this morning. First thing this morning, I loaded the waders rods and fishing gear in the car along with the grill and some grub. Got DD'sMC to work at 9 and slid on down the hill to the hatchery parking lot. Not another vehicle there. Suited up and hit the Rebar hole throwing a 3 inch white mink leeche. Caught several nice fish stripping it back in. Very fat fish. Worked my way down to the big hole catching several more. Switched over to a zebra midge under an indicator and caught 10 more fish before heading up to the pavillion for a bathroom break. While I was up there took the time to grill a new York strip steak for lunch. 6 or 8 cars had showed up by now. After lunch headed to the flats between 1 and 2 and continued fishing with the zebra midge. Picked up a few more fish then switched to a white mink sculpin. Caught 7 more fish and decided to call it a day. Beautiful day to be fishing and grilling.
  2. Dont know about the Baxter area, but I live in the Coney Island area near Kimberling City and we picked up another 3 inches today. Still snowing too.
  3. Where are all the fishing reports?
  4. Welcome to the Party! Fraid there aint no duck hunters on here though????? Would definately like to hear reports on how the dog trials go. One of these days when my wife and I grow up, we are gonna get us a dog for hunting ducks. There have been a few times I just have not felt like fetching
  5. I have found that if it moves, it goes good with rice
  6. Looks like a couple of inches of snow on top of a couple inches of sleet on top of a layer of ice. Not near as bad as I was expecting.
  7. Well, if you come by today to get me....bring a crow bar. The door is nailed shut.
  8. That was funny! Love watching Bill Dance bloopers.
  9. Leonard never showed. I stood outside waiting on him to pick me up with fly rod in hand and by the time I gave up, I had snot cycles hangin 12+ inches off my nose. Asked the wife if she wanted to go this morning.....She said she is nailing the door shut so I cant get out??????
  10. Yeah, come by and pick me up!
  11. Must be the left overs from the yearly stockings.
  12. Just wanted to wish my fishing partner and wife a Happy Birthday!
  13. Great story. Awesome fish! Kudo's on you hillbillyflyshack! Hope you catch her when she's 30+ pounds!
  14. Front page is nice and clean, easy to navigate. So are the secondary pages. Once I got into the individual pages like accessories, it go a little tougher to figure out which text box belonged to which picture. It would be nice to have a return to home page button. Just suggestions. Other than that, looks good. I hope the site brings lots of business your way.
  15. I'd fish with those! Keep up the good work.
  16. Took advantage of the water being off today and headed to the lake about 10 a.m. this morning. The sun was shining bright and a little breeze created chop on the water in several places. Started at the Big Hole using an indicator with a size 14 zebra midge about 13 inches under the indicator. Caught a few at the Big Hole then headed down to the Rocking Chair. Caught several 14-15 inchers down there. Several of the bigger fish had absolutely huge bellies. They have been gorging themselves on something????Shad????? About 1 p.m. had to take a bathroom break then headed to the flats between one and two. It was just like Tuesday. A fish on every cast. Must have put 45 fish to hand up there including one in the 18-19 inch range. Fun day. Get out and get you sum!
  17. I'm a little late, but hope you had a great day Bill. Happy Birthday!
  18. Nice report Phil. MC and I enjoyed it!
  19. Some were silver bullets, some had very visable parr marks and some were colored up like male spawners, and that's all in the 6 inchers, well maybe they were 7 inchers??? Didn't take the time to tape them.
  20. The water got shut off just a few minutes after 10:00 this morning just like the schedule said it would. I was already on the road and headed to the parking lot below the Hatchery. When I arrived, the water was still around 705 and dropping fast. To my amazement, there was not another vehicle to be seen. Got suited up, headed to the rebar hole to fish dropping water, and started with some size 16 grey and tan sow bugs. Caught a few fish then relized that there were gulls everywhere. Switched to a white micro jig under and indicator and caught 5 or 6 more fish. It just was not happening as fast as I would have hoped so I switched to a black soft hackle size 16 and headed to the Big Hole. Caught 10 or 12 fish down there stripping the soft hackle then got hungry and headed to the truck for a bathroom break and some pecan pie for lunch. You see, I was expecting to share some homemade pecan pie with another fella on here, but he didnt show up. Lucky me! I had two pieces for lunch! After lunch, I headed to the flats between outlet 1 and 2 and stripped the soft hackle again. Caught three more fish on that and decided to switch to a size 16 zebra midge about 10 inches under and indicator. This is what the fish wanted. It was a bite on everycast for a solid hour. It then slowed down to a bite on every other cast till just before I left at 4:00 p.m. I think I stuck just about every fish in that hole and had to move down towards outlet 2 just past the rock jetty to get a few more fish. Have no idea how many I caught but it was a lot. Now the quality of the fish was not that great. Nothing over 14 inches today and several in the 6 inch range, but the numbes were fantastic. I did miss several bites by watching the ducks fly around taunting me instead of the indicator. The ducks know they are safe now.

  24. I forgot to mention....I had the pleasure of meeting one of our Conservation Agents, Buck, today while taking out at Rockaway Beach. He was sitting in his truck waiting for the duck hunters to come back in. I was the first one in today he said. He came down to me while I was getting gear out of the canoe. Very friendly man and a pleasure to chat with. He asked how I did today and then talked about bird numbers and things like that. Buck even offered to help and did help me put the canoe in the back of the truck. After getting all loaded up and cold weather gear off he then asked to check my permits. I was happy to show them to him and I thanked him for checking and doing what he was doing.
