Well, that one was OK. But I REALLY liked the first one! "WTF" I think I blew soda out my nose.

I like Wrench's High Tech graphics.

Don't buy paddlefish (and their eggs) from strangers.

Those names sound like they are Russian. Does anybody know if they are illegal immigrants? If so, they won't see jail time, they'll probably just get a free trip home. -
And I thought that I was the only one that stepped on my line and got it hooked on my sandals and danced around it while I was casting. It's good to know that I'm not alone.

Well, I don't mind fishing at night to beat the heat and beat the crowds. Hopefully, the water will be right for both day and night.

I'm planning on making a Trip to Branson around the 25th of September. I prefer to wade fish and I will have a few newbies in tow. Provided we do not get any big rain events between now and then. What are the odds that we will have any wade-able water?

From one Oklahoman to another, Welcome!

OK. I'll play.... I, usually, get to take a couple of trips per year to fish TaneyComo. A few years ago, Leonard, another forum member, introduced me to the methods and flies used to fish at night with success. I have been hooked on night fishing, since then. I prefer to fish with friends, but if none are available, I don't mind fishing alone. However, one night I was fishing, between outlet #1 and #2 and not having a lot of success. There was a little bit of a crowd, early on, and a few newbies that kept turning on their lights. So, I decided to move down river, away from the crowds. So, I went back to the Pavilion and walked down to outlet #3. As I was walking downstream, I ran into a couple of guys coming out with their headlamps on and they were telling me that the fishing wasn't very good. (I wonder why? Hmmm) So, I walked all the way down the gravel bar past the big Root Ball. (It probably isn't there anymore as this was a couple of years ago) I had a #8 Purple UV and Black Hibernator tied on and I finally got where I wanted to fish. This was as far down from outlet #3 as I could walk. There was a shallow Riffle section that spilled into the rest of the river, which was over my head. I started casting to the bottom section of the riffle and letting it swing out into the deeper water. Low and behold, I started picking up fish. I am an addict and that tug was my drug. I, happily, fed my addiction for the next 30 minutes, or so, before I heard a noise, across the river from me. Now, this was about 2:30am and a light fog had started setting in. The noise that I heard was the growl of an animal and it sounded feline. Then I heard the crunching sound of something walking in the leaves across the river. Getting a little nervous, I shouted, "Hey!". The noise stopped, for a few seconds, and then picked up again. I could tell, by the sound, that whatever this was, it was directly across the river from me. So, I turned on my headlamp and, instantly, the light bounced off the fog around me and I couldn't see anything. I took my headlamp off and held it out facing the bank across the river and I saw 4 or 5 sets of Yellow eyes staring back at me. I could not tell what they were. I turned the light off and, thinking I should head back to the truck, started reeling in my line. Then I heard more crunching noise and a splash coming from down river and another splash coming from up river. I, quickly, turned my light back on and shined it across the river. There were 2 sets of eyes missing from the group! I panned the light down river and saw a set of eyes coming across the river. I panned the light up river and saw the other set of eyes coming across the river. I was being surrounded and because of the fog, I still couldn't tell what it was. I backed out of the river, constantly panning my light back and forth to keep track of where they were. They followed me all the way to the stairs and stopped as I started going up the stairs out of the river. To this day, I still do not know what they were. But I, definitely, felt like my place on the food chain had slipped a notch down, in the pecking order.

Pictures will help sell it.

Link didn't work, for me.

Don't want to hijack the thread, but, did you guys read Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time series? If not, it is a "must read" for this genre.

Well, Alright then! I'll look forward to the books. Thanks for the update, FF!

I think that I read, somewhere, that GRRM wasn't going to finish the books. In an interview, he said that he was going to let the HBO writers finish the storytelling with some of his guidance. Since Myrcella was killed, in the books, in a story line that had nothing to do with Jamie, I don't think we will see anymore of her. It's too convenient to have the Red Witch at Castle Black for Jon Snow not to be brought back to life. So, we'll see him next season. I, also, think that Tyrion will show how well he managed the realm in Danni's absence and she will reward him accordingly, by keeping him as her counselor. I will be really surprised if Tommen dies before he meets Danni and her dragons. (Tyrion always liked Tommen). I do think that Tommen will get Margery back and there will be a reckoning between her and Cersie. Regarding Arya, wasn't she blinded for a spell, in the book? I think it is all part of the path to the many faced way of life and will be revealed next season. In the books, Sam and family left Castle Black along with Aegon and another crow and they wound up meeting Arya. So, I suspect that Sam and family will meet Arya and inform her of Jon Snow's status. There is still a lot that can happen with Bran and Rikkon and it will be interesting to see how that will play out. I suspect that Sansa and Theon will meet up with BreAnne of Tarth and begin another story line that may wind up finding Rikkon and bolstering an army of Northerners behind them and they will take over Winterfell. In the long run, I think that Danni and Jon Snow will become allies, at the least, and maybe love interests. This will bring the Dragons into play and lots of Dragon Glass and Valerian Steel weapons will be forged to fight off the White Walkers. However, it'll probably take them until Season 10 to make that happen.

I bought both of these, (What a Deal!!) and finally got a chance to get them on the water. What a blast. I got to spend the day with my Dad and he had a great time. Here's a pic.

New Recessed Tray Installed

Cool. How does it drain, when it gets water in it? -
Nice!!

Aside from Trout, I've been focusing on tying a few panfish flies. All of the rain has been blowing out the rivers, but the ponds around town are in good shape. So, lot's of panfish being chased, right now.

Yes. It will be running all weekend and more, until they get the lake down to 632 ft.

pm sent.

Pictures with goats.... Sounds like political blackmail.. Nice fish. Nice pics. Jealous of the pond access.

JCW is correct. We hosted the event but the OK City 89'ers TU Chapter guys showed up to help, also. It was a good combined event for an even better cause. And, we even had time to fish before the water ran us off.

Tenkiller Dam, Gate Changes 4-17-15
DaddyO replied to a topic in Upper and Lower Illinois River (OK)
As JCW said, 632 is the magic number. They weren't managing to that number, earlier, because they were working on the dam/turbines, etc.. They have their issue fixed and began releasing water. Look for them to go back to normal generation patterns when the lake level gets down to 632. By the way, the fishing was great below the dam prior to them letting the water out again. -
My personal best was on the same river, almost the twin of that one. Mine was 26 in with a 15.5 in girth. I didn't have any scales so my math says it was around 7.5 lbs. I love fishing the Norfork river. And, that is a REALLY nice Cutthroat. Congrats!

State record rainbow trout caught Saturday
DaddyO replied to Trout Predator's topic in Upper and Lower Illinois River (OK)
If they stay a few hundred yards away from the walk-in access points, they'll probably be safe. And, yes, they did stock a few larger fish, recently.
