  1. Congrats to our own Champ188 and Donna on 2nd! OUTSTANDING!
  2. That's fantastic snakem. What a relief getting that many keepers in the boat early on tourney day!
  3. - AAawwwwwwwww mmmmmmmmmmaannnnn! That always stinks. Sorry to hear it. Hope it doesn't hit yah in the wallet too hard.
  4. Here's a bump for yah Rodney. I saw you only had a few posts; but I recognized your screen name from somewhere. Then it dawned on me...........BBC! - Welcome aboard. Great bunch of folks over here too.
  5. We were down a bit over a week ago with some other friends in different boats. We had a rough go of it in Schooner; not sure I would recommend wasting much time there. We frothed the water with everything but the kitchen sink. - But, some buddy's of ours cleaned up over in Fisher Creek. They caught lots of fish, slow rolling the grub on pea gravel banks, just outside the moss, parallel to shore. A lot of small fish, but keepers mixed in; all species. - Heck, the way things change down there, this could all just be a history lesson. - I try and check the boards here for reports, minutes before heading out the door to The Rock. Even better, if I remember to bring my laptop, I check reports while I'm down there for realtime info.
  6. Hey fozz, we were down a couple weekends ago, and had a tough go of it. We caught plenty of shorts, but not the SMJ keepers we typically do this time of year. Our typical SMJ spots were near deserted..............weird!?!? They've never let us down before, and we typically have consistent results every year in these spots of ours. I don't think it's just you.
  7. - Welcome aboard Jed. Great report too! That's sssooo great when you can get some kids out to fish and really get into them. Especially fish of those sizes. That had to be a hoot!
  8. - Very admirable, and appreciated!
  9. Uh oh..........looks like a post of mine may have muddy the waters again. To add to what Phil said..... - I didn't mean 'contributor' in any official sense. Just referring to 'fishing buddies' as mentioned; and those who make their living as guides, generous enough to post free info. - A bit of a parallel that comes to mind; would be a popular restaurant, reservations needed WAY in advance, and they serve your favorite dish. It always has that special something that makes it fantastic. Now, imagine the chef/cook/owner posting the exact recipe online, and how to fix it; for free. Secret ingredients and all. - Hard to find that kind of generosity these days? Not here at OAF!
  10. - Just thinking out loud here; I wonder if the guides who post on here regularly can attribute their generosity and participation on OAF to an increase in business? - I certainly know I would hire a contributor. And have recommended OAF contributors to others.
  11. Great report Don. Days like those are a blast! I can only count on one hand how many times that's happened to me though.
  12. I know similar threads have come up in the past from guides; and this always leave me scratching my head. - All these calls/e-mails looking for fishing info; isn't that what the OAF boards are for!?!?!?! The boards are FREE! A guides' time is not. - It's callled fishing people, NOT catching. If you're a catcherman, you need to do some research and read the boards; figuring the fish out is part of fishing. - You guides are saints down on The Rock; and have FAR more patience than I with those calls.
  13. Nice fish indeed Joe! It always seems to happen to me down there; I'll get into some nice fish, as a helluva storm/lightning comes rolling in to flush me off the water.
  14. Those are some great pics Edwin! And I bet the sound of those Zebco Omegas screaming was deafening. Those are indeed some nice smallies!
  15. - We were down last week and fished the KC area. Had to keep the boat in about 20 foot of water, as my partner couldn't keep his line out of the moss. - Throwing the blade and 4-5" grubs. We did all right, but nothing wonderful. The bite doesn't seem to be where it has been the past few years this time of the year.
  16. Just thought I'd bump this up to the top. Great price, great way to identify other OAF guys on the water; and Phil's SUPER fast, affordable shipping! - Yah can't lose!
  17. - Weightless? - (I'm guessing split shot in the wind?)
  18. Mine were on last week when I was down, I didn't see any others; but we didn't move very far on the water either; co-angler was a bit under the weather.
  19. - Thanks Jackie, I'm interested. Sorry for the slow reply, not sure how I missed your post? - I'll shoot over a private message and discuss the details if yah don't mind? (no sense in cluttering the forum with our chit-chat?)
  20. I searched and couldn't find anything, so I thought I would post; in case I get down in the next few weeks. (kinda up in the air) - As opposed to calling every Evinrude/BRP dealer around the lake; does anyone know of any dealers who sell XD-100 in bulk around the lake? And if so, what they charge? - Preferably in the KC area; if possible. (cause I'm lazy like that )
  21. drs,......not feeling very confident?!!?!?...............That's no way to go into it. - Like gitnby said, work those big docks along with the other reports coming in; you'll be fine. - Good report gitnby! - One thing too drs, make sure you're throwing fluorocarbon(preferably) or mono in the 8 pound test range. Maybe even 6 if you feel up to it. I see a lot of guys fish The Rock when I'm down and complain about not being able to catch fish; and see them throwing 15+ pound line. The Rock is a different animal, the waters nice and clear; and dems fish is super crafty!
  22. This may not be a direct answer to your question; but if you hit a roadblock here; the gang over at BassBoatCentral.com message boards/forums are great. They've got tons of Merc/Yamaha/Evinrude/etc. Ceritifed techs as members, that are always happy to help. - Here's a link to the Mercury page. - - Not only have the techs over there helped (who usually mod their forums), but tons of fellow board members with my exact engine have chipped in too. That place has literally saved me TONS of money over the years. Great place to get help troubleshooting problems, and I think there's over 100k members registered from around the world! - Don't get me wrong, OAF is my internet home; but BBC is a nice place to visit.
  23. Nice report den, sorry today was rough though; but...... great looking slab there! - Sounds like others are avoiding fishing the moss altogether; nice to hear it can still be fished.
  24. - Same here, throughout the year I lookout for them and load up when I see them. That way, when the bites on, I don't mind blowing through 'em! - The tackle shop up on 13 in KC last year (can't think of the name) had a box on the counter of special run Fish Doctors in Watermelon Candy they had made for 'em. They went like hotcakes!
  25. Nice spot! I'm loosening my belt FOR that Spot. Looks like he might pop!
