  1. - Dang! Good point Jack. Everything we (and others we could see) were fishing were brush piles, nowhere near docks. Guess that would explain the rough go of it. The few keepers we had were just barely keepers. - Just out of curiosity, what arm of the lake were you fishing Tuesday? (water temps?)
  2. - Thanks for the info Joe. That makes sense! - Don't be stingy posting those screen shots either. Those things are hypnotizing!
  3. Thanks for the screen shots Joe, those are VERY cool! That one of the school of baitfish on the run is awesome! - But, I have a question that might be a bit off topic. I notice on some of your screen shots, it looks like you may have a bunch of waypoints tightly clustered together in certain areas. - How do you determine what/where you mark a waypoint? - I get jazzed up when I catch a fish (sometimes 2) in an area, and want to mark that spot. But, unless I establish a pattern of multiple fish, I don't mark the spot. (I don't want to clutter things up with spots that have not proven to be consistent) - Although I do return to spots I have caught fish at before, to confirm if they are worthy of a waypoint.
  4. Anybody else out on Tuesday? (lets here how yah did ) - Crappie fished the Glaize arm out of PB2 yesterday. Got on the water about 9:00 a.m., fished until about 2:30. Found water up near PB1 in the afternoon around 52+. Beautiful day to be on the water with bluebird skys. But those bluebird skys may have been to our problem? - Fished brush piles on the main channel for most of the day. Throwing 1/8-1/16 maribous and small tubes in multiple colors, no real color pattern. We only caught a few keepers and not many more dinks. It was a tough day ineeded. - Everything we caught were holding VERY tight to the brush/if not tangled in the brush in about 8' of water. All our catches were made on VERY sssssslllllllowwwww presentations. Painfully slow. - There were quite a few other boats up there in the morning. Everyone seemed to be making milk runs; so I told myself, the bite must've been tough for others too? Otherwise we would've seen other boats staying in one spot for longer time frames. So maybe it wasn't just us? - Oh well, it was nice to be on the water on a beautiful day! - (As a side not; I did notice a few good size shad having trouble on the surface. We'd disturb them and they'd swim back under the surface.)
  5. - WooHoo! Thanks Phil! - And you to Joe for bringing this up.
  6. That winter storm that came through sat/sun, did you guys get much rain/sleet/snow? - Also, anyone been out on the water today with surface temps report (and water clarity info) around the state park on the Glaize arm?
  7. - Yikes! You said it Joe. I know I have the attention span of a 5th grader, and I'm a scatterbrain; but this has quickly veered off course. - Not to try and steer the ship here; but let's keep our heads in the game guys. Start another thread for other OAF thoughts/activities. Joe's onto something here! - I'd really like to see this get rolling on the ribbon idea. I hate being down on The Rock, only to wave at every boat passing by and think, ".......hhhmmm???..........wonder if that was an OAF member?........"
  8. -I've used http://www.iguanagrafix.com/ in the past. They're board sponmsors over on BBC. Darryl is quick to respond, and a great guy to deal with. - I contacted him a while back about OAF stickers, and he just said he would need a jpg file to get pricing together. I thought about trying to organize something, but the reality of my homelife, with 2 toddlers and a full time job quickly came to my attention; that I do not have time for one more thing right now. - Someone mentioned a ribbon not lasting on the trolling motor. I would think as long as it's securely attached/wrapped and not flopping around, it would hold up. And I concur, in the long run, when the ribbon idea gains traction, it would need to have some UV protective properties to it.
  9. +1 - I second the yellow ribbon idea with Ozarkanglers printed on it. That's a great idea; something visible from a distance; I think that's key. Decals would not be visible until you're right on top of them. And, I know a lot of people don't want to put decals on there boats. - Generic tape/ribbon would not be as aesthetic either.
  10. - Great report, you guys tore 'em up. Great day for father in son indeed! - Those fools being that close to catch your line, that's absurd!?!!?! What a bunch of losers. Those guys aren't fisherman, they're 'catcher'man. Part of the fun is figuring the fish out, and catching your OWN fish. Those jerks! That behavior infuriates me! Good job snubbing them out though! That'll learn 'em.
  11. -I'll second that. Great report, and big smiles; even with that gloomy looking weather!
  12. That's very cool jay! I'm a firm believer, that white bass fishing is an excellent way to get a newcomer or young person addicted to fishing. Man, if you can get into them white bass; they're a hoot! I bet the little guy was thrilled.
  13. - ........that's funny. - Great report, and pix Bill. A real treat for those of us landlocked for a while.
  14. - OOOOoooooooohhhhh Champ! No you didn't! I'll bet techo will disagree on that one!
  15. - +1! Welcome aboard EP. I'm sure they'll be a few OAF guys at the AIA. I was going to try and catch up with a few of them and say hello last time I was down during the AIA; but circumstances on my end prohibited it.
  16. - That's what I was afraid of, it would not be very helpful with just audio. - But, bigredbirdfan brings up an interesting point. Would the Power Point presentation along with the audio be a possibility? (my only concern would be knowing when to switch screens.........but, just like conference calls accompanied by a slideshow at work, you can kinda figure out where you're at, after someone talks about the particular screen shot a bit)
  17. That's really cool Phil. You've outdone yourself again. Any plans for this type of podcast again? (weekly?/bi-weekly?)

    Big Girl

Nice one ryan! - How much did she weigh?
  19. That's a GREAT!! day if you ask me. I'm with yah, that kind of activity is very nice. Sounds like it was worth braving the elements. Good job!
  20. Ya'll-Mart Everstarts. Myself and several other buddies have used them without issue for years for trolling and starting battery. - Also, most areas have 24 hour Wal-Marts. (Helpful night fishing one time when the white bass fishing was unbelievable. Had a battery crap out, ran to wal-mart at 2:00 a.m. and got a new one. Back on the water in no time for more action, and only lost a little fishing time!)
  21. This may be older info, not sure if it even still applies? But, last year when we were down, we parked at Blunks one day, and hoofed it quite a ways down the river to a good spot. Only to find out there was a closer place to park and walk to this stretch of the river. - If I'm not mistaken, it as off of Sandstone Road (off Blunk Road). You take it all the way to the end, and you're kinda up on this hill in the woods, the road is lined by a barbed wire fence. But, there's a sign (I thought?) and some nice, sturdy stairs built to walk up and over the fence. Then a path takes you down to a nice bend in the river. (It's a bit of a stroll through the undergrowth, but nothing treacherous, and well worth the trek; and you can see the river the whole way you're walking, so you know you're getting close) That's where we did our best, and there were a few other guys fishing/wading-fly fishing there. VERY nice large, wide gravel bank to walk around on. The water gets a bit shallow before that, so only one boat even got close to where we were. Heck, we didn't even have waders and caught a bunch of nice whites. - Maybe someone else can give better details/directions to this location? - Also, the recent rain may really have things moving through there; but worth a shot. I know last year after some heavy rains, the river really started moving, and got discolored quick.......and sadly.......the bite shut off.
  22. - Those are surface temps (I know some guys have transducers loose to lower down to check temps at desired depths), but if you're talking about depth of crappie, 8'-10' is what the word is. - We've got another buddy who lives down there, he's been on 'em all week. Doing pretty well. - I should be down in a week or so and be able to give some firsthand info.
  23. This is second hand info, but rock solid. A buddy of mine went last weekend, found 38 degrees around PB2. Hit some crappie spots and zeroed. - Ran several miles up the Glaize and found 48 degree water in the shallows. Knocked the pooh outta the crappie up there on some of his spots. - Anyone else telling me this info, and I would be very skeptical. But, I've fished several times with this guy; and if he says it;' it's the truth.
  24. Cool. Thanks.
  25. - Blunk is the only ramp I can speak of, but last year we fished the area a few days. Got a good amount of rain one of the days, and things were VERY sloppy in the parking area, and on the ramp. So something to keep in mind if you have tires with low tread, or 2 wheel drive. A few guys had some problems; but nothing everyone wasn't able to work around.
