  1. - I've always been a fan of #6 trebles on those size cranks. And I just use the existing split ring that's on them for the hooks. Except on jerkbaits, then I switch the nose split ring to an oval split ring (see link below). Probably not necessary; just a personal preference. (and heck, the high end jerkbaits come with 'em, can't be too bad of an idea.) - http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_30197_100010005_100000000_100010000?cmCat=CROSSSELL_SEARCH
  2. - WooHoo! I know yah are Phil, now hurry; I'm just a bit jazzed up about it. - Although I probably won't get to listen until this weekend; but still excited!
  3. (eyes closed, fingers crossed, clicking heels 3 times) ".......come on podcast, come on podcast, come on podcast........" - (yah, yah.......I know I already posted this)
  4. (Charlie Brown sigh) Glad it was great, too bad I live so far. Couldn't make it. - (eyes closed, fingers crossed, clicking heels 3 times) ".......come on podcast, come on podcast, come on podcast........"
  5. +1, I was gonna say the same thing. Glad to see yah over here. You've answered a bunch of noob questions I had a while back; very helpful! - Fantastic pix redbud, those are awesome!
  6. - I'll be dipped. That does answer my question, thanks. - I think that's how I would've fished it too. When the time calls for a crankbait, I would just reach for one. - You are brave indeed, I'd be a nervous wreck at the first feel of it coming through those limbs. Way to stick with it (no pun intended), sounds like it paid off.
  7. Orrrrrrrrrr, if you don't want to or can't return them to a retailer or the manufacturer. I'm sure some of the guys (myself included ) who love to tinker/modify/paint cranks would take them off your hands. At a discounted rate of course.
  8. -Yup, good report. - Out of curiosity, how were you guys fishing the bevy shad? I'm curious if it worked better as a jerkbait, or as a crank. I'm intrigued by it, and not sure it does both well, or if it's a compromise.
  9. - Great Thought rebud! It may not make the FLW show, but I bet you could get tens of thousands, if not hundreds of thousands of views, by posting them on youtube! - Maybe then when the buzz ran around different message boards, and finally back to the a$$holes, it might shame them into reconsidering their behavior. (might) - Or better yet, e-mail the link of the a$$holes video on youtube, to some of their sponsors. The threat of hitting the a$$holes in the wallet, that'll wake 'em up.
  10. - Yup, I silence a lot of my crankbaits for that reason. - If you decide to add another BB, or something smaller that will rattle around in there; just drill a tiny hole, then put a round toohpick in until it's super tight. Break off the toothpick flush with the baits body, drip some super glue on the toothpick (liquid, not gel), and the toothpick will wick up the glue and seal the hole.
  11. Man, that's a cool event. And affordable. Once again, stinks I live so far away; can't make it. - Oh well, here's a bump to the top for yah Phil!
  12. - Shame, shame. A little courtesy goes a long way. If some people would just get a handle on what I call 'the basics', it coule speak volumes for the sport.
  13. - Good call den and Phil. I've been watching that Red River stuff onfold online; I didn't think about them heading your guys' way a bit early.
  14. - The last one was posted in the TR forum here as a thread, a day or so after the event. (If memory serves me correctly?)
  15. - +1 - Be sure not to limit yourself to a traditional dropshot tactic. Use the dropshot setup, and fish it like a Carolina rig too. We've done well at The Rock with that setup too. - Just a little something different.
  16. I can't make it down, but I have my calendar marked for the podcast. I'm jazzed up! - This is a topic that really intrigues me. I have much to learn.
  17. - Whoah! Let's hear that story. Come on, don't be shy; talk it up.
  18. Dang 97, those look great! I buy the Jann's blanks myself, and have had good luck with them. Same experience with them you mentioned. - Although I use rattle can to paint mine, so they don't look anywhere near as good as yours; but decent enough for my budget. I'd like to invest in some airbrush stuff, but just can't take the plunge.
  19. - Awesome pic redbud, that's the one I was thinking of I saw previously. Very cool! - Doug V over on BBC is a super guy. I had some questions for him in the past re: my lowly 700 series, and he was very helpful. - +1 with what Don said, you guys keep posting those screen shots; they are really great!
  20. Hhhhmmm............I'm with you Jessary, small craws this time a year. I wouldn't have thunk it. - Cool to hear you got out; looks like you guys are gonna get dumped on down there.
  21. - Woohoo! podcast,....... Thanks Phil! - Not sure how posting a video works online, but if it's a bit of a production to get it online and would cost to watch; I'm sure others would be willing to pay a few bucks to watch it? I know I would open my wallet! - You guys (and gals) really go above and beyond on the site with all the info!
  22. Any plans to record it and offer it up on a podcast like your last seminar? (fingers crossed) - This would be GREATLY appreciated for those of us who can't make it. Although we won't get the visual aide of being there; it'll be better than nothing. - I have one of your seminars from last year saved at home, and it's great to listen to as a refresher!
  23. - Yup, I vote for end of April, early May. That's always been good to us. - I would advise against March. We got burned last year and had sleet, freezing rain and snow to fish in. It was aweful. And it seemd to be a bit much for the fish too; they didn't cooperate either!
  24. - Hats off to you guys Gary! That's great. I bet those dirtbags have used this trick before. Dirtbags!
  25. - Ooohh! That's cool Don. I thought you may have posted that last year; but I couldn't recall. Keep those screen shots comin'!
