  1. Keep us posted snakem, I'm at work all day and have to fish vicariously through you guys; so be sure and report back! - (what kind of surface temps did you find too?)
  2. KC, I slowed down the audio a bit, and turned the volume up at one part, I thought I heard Bill discussing it briefly in more detail. And, it also sounds just like how I fish it too. - I think the fish doctor is rigged on the hook as other soft plastics would be, and the Carolina Keeper is up the line at your chosen length, with the weight on top of it. No swivel, no beads, no clackin'...................I think..............but let's see if Bill steps in here.
  3. Dang snakem, sounds like quite the day, way to go!
  4. Thanks a million Phil! I was really bummed that I was going to miss Bill speaking the other night (since I live 4 hours away:-(, this was a FANTASTIC idea. I can't wait to get through it! - I was not able to click on it to get the link to play, but I just right mouse clicked it, hit 'Save Target As...', sent it to my desktop, and just double clicked it when it was done downloading. - Also, KC, if the Carolina Keeper Bill is talking about is this .............. - http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/s...__SearchResults - I've used them for years, and they work GREAT!
  5. Thanks for the heads up Paul. I finally got a chance to chat with my friends who made it over. They said there were'nt many people there, but it was a good seminar. Chock-full-'o'-info! - Oh well, there's always next year?
  6. I think I have the details correct in the title? - Just curious if anyone made it to this seminar tonight? - Friends of mine made it, but with 2 new little ones at home, my wife and I have our hands full, so I couldn't make it. - Just wanted to get some impressions on what people thought of it, and how the turnout was with this weather?
  7. Fantastic report Larry! Those of us who don't make it down (or up, depending where you live) very often, love to read all the detailed reports. Gives me a small sense of being there.
  8. That makes for a rough day in the cold, sorry to hear it. - Don't ever hesitate to post a report, good or bad. I try to check the forums daily, and see whats doing. It helps hold me over 'til I make it down again. - I don't know how I stayed sane in the off season before I found OAF.
  9. Welcome aboard Adam, this site definitely is a fantastic resource. And be sure to check back closer to when you're leaving, for more up to the minute reports. - I fish The Rock a few times in the spring. But, typically in the Kimberling City area. I imagine my experiences would be similar on other parts of the lake; so I'll add my 2 cents, on techniques that work well for us. - Since the water's pretty clear, it's a good idea to have on some 8 lb fluoro line for starters (maybe even 6 lb?, but I prefer 8). Some good baits that work well for novices (as you mentioned some family members are), if the fish are active; would be to swim a 5" salt&pepper grub on 1/4 ounce jigheads, slow rolling them back to the boat; just fast enough to bump the bottom, or keep the tail flickering. Throwing them around docks and other cover have proven effective, but you may want to scare up some weedless jigheads for those who don't fish often. Otherwise, you'll spend more time getting them out of trees/brush, etc. - Another, slower technique would be the ole' tried and true Green Pumpkin finesse worm on 1/4 to 1/8 ounce jighead. Creeping it on the bottom. This can be tough for those who don't fish much, just because some people have trouble feeling the bottom. Heck, even seasoned anglers I've had in the boat, think they're dragging the bottom, when they're actually nowhere close. And in turn, not getting bit. - Both of these methods work great on the spots and smallies. But some of the regulars at The Rock will be able to give more valuable info.
  10. Great read, and cool pix Bill! Makes me anticipate my next trip down, even more.............sigh............
  11. This is from a couple days ago. Not sure if thats as current as you were after? - http://ozarkanglers.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=15119
  12. Way to go t1365. Glad to hear you didn't get skunked. - Even better to hear you're out there braving the weather to catch 'em. It'll be interesting to see how many people get out with these colder temps coming up. BBBbbbrrrrr...
  13. Oh Crap! I just got a chance to watch the Table Rock event all the way through. That was a total waste. FLW brought their poop coverage to a new low. - I couldn't have been more dissappointed.
  14. - Thanks for the details Whack 'em. I wasn't sure how all that worked. :-) - But I will agree with you, the FLW coverage could be better; Zona and Sanders do a great job on the Bassmasters side.
  15. I think they are different. We have Charter Cable. I'm not sure about Dish..........sorry.
  16. I'll be dern'd. - The ole dropshot, I'd a guessed another technique woulda won it. Shows how much I know.
  17. I just saw on our cable guide that the Stren Series Championship from Table Rock is broadcasting on Fox Sports Net on Sunday 1/3 at 10:00 a.m. and Wednesday 1/7 at 11:00 p.m. - I'm hoping it was the most recent event, but we'll have to see. - I was pretty jazzed up to see it coming on; thought some others may be interested. (fingers crossed it's the most recent event )
  18. - Dang.....nobody? - Skeeter, let us know how the turnout was, and how things go. - I'm stuck here in St.Louis, and have to fish vicariously though you lucky dawgs down there!
  19. Dang nice fish Edwin! - Holy Moly Bill! That's quite the action from Beck..............wooowee.................that is unreal!
  20. - I was hoping someone would post a report after being out when we had these warmer temps. - Even better to see Donna getting back on the water so soon.........and catching fish too! Fishing is very therapeutic! Way to go, I'm excited for yah. - My father went through a similar ordeal a couple years ago, and it took him much longer to get back on the mend. But things are closer to normal now. So I can relate.
  21. Don, I shot you a message with a few questions re: rods, I didn't want to pull this thread any farther off topic than I already had. - (and for you grammer freaks; yes I realize I ended that sentence with a preposition.................I think )
  22. Don, On the topic of rods, you mentioned: - ..........Anywhere from 60 million to 75 million modules of graphite per inch........... - Do you (or anyone else) notice less sensitivity with a 2-piece rod? - I have always preferred one piece rods, but found a 2-piece on clearance, that I've been eyeing for a while, and it has a very high modules count. I'm just concerned with the 2-piece part of the equation.
  23. - Funny you should mention that, most people are concerned with the Braid to Fluoro knot, but you're exactly right; most breaks occur at the hook. - For everyone else, sorry to get off topic. Now back to our regular programming about Football Jigs! (great topic! )
  24. - I'm with you Joe, but I use a much longer leader, in case I need to re-tie. And I've been using the Hi-Vis stuff to detect the subtle line movements; works like a charm! I think Denny Brauer picked up on the Hi-Vis stuff this year, and said he wished he'd of done it sooner.
  25. Dang Champ, that's great! Home by the end of the week, that's good to hear. Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz was right, 'there's no place like home'. - Techo makes a good point, the boards do tend to feel like family. All though much more for you guys down at the lake. But I'm always reading, and only post a bit. It's tough being so far from The Rock. - Give Donna our best!
