  1. Tell us how you really feel?
  2. That is correct. All the baits were dummies except for the middle one.
  3. I thought the same thing and I posted in the youtube comments asking him what lake this was shot at. Will see if I get a response from the guy who uploaded the video.
  4. Ya there were a few things that I found interesting about this video. One is that it yet again kinda blows the thin/low vis line thing out of the water since this guy is running a frickin camera (with some sort of home make custom harness if you read the comments he posted below in the comment section on the youtube video) about 5+ feet in front of his A-Rig. Fish don't give a crap that there is a contraption tied in front of another contraption. Two, a few times they hit the top 2 baits when attacking from behind and I thought most of the time the would hit the 2 lower or 1 middle bait. Three, you can see when one decides to commit that the other fish get the green light so to speak and lose all reservations about not attacking and just go into a feeding frenzy. Four, like ProCraft mentioned at the end of the video he had the rig straight down vertically working it like a drop shot and was still drawing strikes.....makes me think back to Mike Webb catching that 11lb'er last year supposedly seeing a fish on his graph and dropping it down vertically to it and bringing up the kraken. Food for thought.
  5. Ned strikes again. Nice work Quill.
  6. If that isn't the truth
  7. Just thought this was really neat how this guy attached a camera to his line out in front of his A-Rig to show how fish react/strike an A-Rig. Might be able to learn something next time out. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cgp4_Sv8qPk
  8. We had this conversation a few months back when someone had asked what kind of line to throw jigs on and I basically gave the same answer. Use whatever line you can get away with and go with what line suits the presentation best or what you wanted the intended action on the bait to be....need distance or need a crank to get deeper throw 10lb, need lower stretch on long casts with a fooball jig use 15lb, etc. etc.
  9. I don't mean to be rude but man there are MULTIPLE threads going right now on what the BASS Elite guys where using and where. Just have to read and its all there along with pics.
  10. Techo.....can you confirm? Or Deny, Deny, Deny.
  11. Just a reminder this Elite tournament will air on ESPN2 on 4/20. Putting my DVR to record it now so I don't forget or miss it.
  12. I am very partial to Netbait products because: 1) They have some really perfect bait styles and profiles 2) They have a fantastic array of colors to choose from 3) They have fantastic action 4) They're relatively cheap in comparison to other top brands That being said the Paca Craw should work just as good as that menace with a very similar profile and action. Lots of craws, creature baits and trailers that would work just the same.
  13. Thinking the same thing...Biffle Head is just sort of a variation of my beloved Jika. I have always just used the cheapo Gremlin bell weights from Wally World but those in that Cabela's link look great and I am sure work better since they are meant to be bottom bouncers/draggers for the walleye guys therefore are less prone to snagging.....shocking walleye geared mentality coming from you RPS. lol.
  14. Awesome pics Bill. What area of the lake did Mike fish mostly?
  15. Fantastic report. Next time they come to the Rock I will be putting my name in for being a marshal. Sounds awesome.
  16. This is who I was referring to in my post above with the excuses galore. But you went ahead and let the cat out of the bag. Guy just loves to stir the pot and is more worried about what gear and boat he is running that actually winning tournaments or placing well.
  17. ^-----THIS Secondly, the main one making a stink does so about every other tournament and the excuses run the gamut from motor issues, locals hole jumping his spots to even to place blame on other BASS Elite Anglers causing him to miss hours of fishing in a tournament due to holding up the lock times on a river. I think his sponsors pay him to be the loudmouth of the sport because he gets more media coverage and newspaper face time for spouting off than he does for actually winning or placing well in tournaments. Like others have said, the ones catchin' them aren't the ones complaining....go figure.
  18. Make time. Sign up. Cross fingers. Pay money.
  19. Not sure if its true but was told by an old timer if you are catching small ones or buck bass shallow go a little deeper to find the gals. Not sure if that holds true but that was the saying. Congrats on the nice day Bigmo.
  20. Ya the purpose of the trip was really to get the boat in ship shape and also to get the new electronics installed. The fishing was really just secondary but heck I wanted it to at least be a little better than it was. Will be interested to see what the Elites do on the Rock and where the majority of the top bags are coming from on the lake.
  21. Got down there Friday night and spent all day Saturday cleaning up the boat after the winter gave her a beating and installing two sonar units on it. Got out Sunday and ran down to Long Creek all the way down the Cricket creek and the water has a real brown stain to it. Temp was 53 to almost bumping 55 in certain spots. Was just a tough go and only caught 4 shorts with 3 on a wiggle wart and 1 on a a-rig. Water visibility there is about 1 maybe 2 feet. Had boat troubles this morning and was only able to fish around the 86 park with the troller and temps there were considerably cooler than in Long Creek at 47-48 degrees and had one bite on a jig and that was it. Pretty poor weekend but mainly was just to knock the snow/dust off the old boat. Saw G-Man and Ish Monroe's truck + rigs at the ramp at 86. Saw Jason Christie on the water as well as another pro and didn't see either land a fish. Dam area still seems to be tough right now or just had lockjaw today with the fronts blowing though. Long Creek looks to be ready to have some good fishing soon one would think with the temps that are 5-6 degrees higher than the main lake dam type stuff. Will also mention couldn't get them to eat a jerk bait for the life of me and usually I can. Pretty disappointed but that's fishing. Good luck out there and will be interesting to see what the pro's do later this week and weekend.
  22. Will also add the cove right there to the left once you pass backbone bluff as you head upstream just past the MO/AR state line can also be a good spot for crappie. In early April sometimes you have to take a number and get in line to fish those types of locations all the way down to Yokum.
  23. That marina used to be Gage's and now it's Bass Pro Long Creek Marina. If you are looking for crappie I would launch there and work the south bank about 2/3rds the way back in Brushy first. I've had success there in years past and I always target laydowns that run from the bank down into the water and work a swimming minnow all over it from 5 feet of water down to 15-20ft. You can work your way towards Cricket and hit the little cuts and pockets on the way and pick up some crappie.
  24. x 2. Lew's has or is coming out with a "Wart Special" rod that is made for warts.....obviously. You can finds Lew's from Sportsman Outfitters out of Dothan, AL that has the best prices on Lew's gear. Lew's reels are 20-30% less there than retail plus no tax and free shipping. If you are wanting to burn your BPS gift cards then the BPS Pro Qualifier in a 5.2 gear ratio would be the best bang for you buck and pair that with rod of your choice in your budget.
