  1. Most people I think just cut the barb or rounded portion of the hook off the jig head and run their dummy on it. I on the other hand bought these: http://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Do-it_Hitching_Post_25pk/descpage-DOITHPS.html and just screw in through the nose of the dummy and that works as well. My 2 cents.
  2. Posted this in the Best of Table Rock but thought I would post it here as well. Don House, on 12 Jul 2007 - 16:22, said: Well its getting about that time for top water to heat up so I took out my redfins that don't "wake" right. I remember Don saying how he has tried using a bic lighter or matches to heat the bill and they crack. Well I decided to heat up the bills using a hair dryer and well...... it worked. I heated the plastic on the bill for about 30 seconds putting the hair dryer about 1/8th of an inch away from the bill and then just put even pressure on the bill with my thumb being sure not to got to fast to crack it nor too slow as it does cool pretty quick and re-harden. It worked perfectly and I have the perfect angle on the bills which is almost a 90 degree angle perpendicular to the bait. The angle of the bill is now basically identical to my Buckeye Wake Up and I really think this is going to make the redfin run fantastic. It shouldn't dive now retrieved at any speed which is the problem I have with just about all of my redfins. I haven't thrown it yet but I am pretty sure this will be a home run so to speak. Just thought I'd share.

  4. True. I was just saying its like clockwork, not complaining.
  5. November....posts start about tackle, rods and reels...check March....fishing reports start and posts cursing the weather....check April/May.....posts start about the ongoing battle between fisherman and pleasure boaters/water fleas......check June/July.....posts about heat and high temps........next on the agenda
  6. I know Dave will kill me for this but I just use the 1/8th and 1/16th oz stand-up jig heads made by Arkie from Walmart for my Ned Rigs. They are like $2.50 for a 5 pack. Have a small single cable weed guard and they are cheap so when I lose a while bunch I don't care....what can I say I'm cheap!
  7. Pictures sum up Table Rock...one day shirt off...next day bundled up with the 100mph gore tex on...hahahaha. What length/size swim bait you throwing?
  8. It looks ridiculous, small and unappealing and everything about it screams no action at all but those little boogers will put fish in the boat. Don't know why but it does.
  9. Great report and congrats. Seems like you have the touch this year on the big gals. Good stuff and thanks for the pics along with the report.
  10. Yep, Mink. See them all the time and they usually catch a fish from the bank before I do.
  11. Good stuff Bill and I would also love to see a greater effort to get the Walleye going on TR. Not to say that MDC isn't doing their best, just would like to see them concentrate more of an effort on them specifically.
  12. I don't know the full details as to what went on with the neighbor I am just telling you what he told me. All the trees and brush cut was on his property and maybe a touch of COE property near the shore line....not a public site or area to enhance his view. He was making a trail from his yard to his dock and didn't think he was doing anything wrong. A very honest mistake which should have warranted a fine but geesh not multiple thousands of dolalrs. I do not have a high opinion of the COE just from the stories I hear from people and I also think they are quite arrogant.
  13. I am no biologist nor do I know what are or aren't healthy populations of particular species of fish but I would say Table Rock is just fine the way it is with game fish and shad populations. I really don't think they would need to stock anything other than maybe some walleye as they seem a little low on the totem pole on population numbers in TR. I also believe there is some stocking that goes on but don't quote me on that.
  14. Boy if that ain't the truth. Had a neighbor get hit with a fine (I believe 5 or 6 grand) for trimming some trees/brush back in his yard and I guess unknowingly some on COE property. Not only do I find this HIGHLY excessive and down right almost criminal but the COE employee had him make a CHECK OUT IN THIS EMPLOYEES name for the total amount and not to the COE or State of Missouri. I find that very suspect and this neighbor is one of the nicest guys I have EVER met. Would never harm a fly or knowingly break the law. A small fine of a hundred (or a few benjamins) would have been sufficient. One other problem with the COE is that you talk to 3 different people and get 3 different answers as to what is the law/code/regulation. They really have nobody that keeps them in check and therefore have free reign to do whatever they see fit. They need some sort of check and balance if you ask me. Step all over people and you can't fight back. Rant over.
  15. I agree with all the sentiments of the above posts. When I filled out the survey I said that the shallow habitat that they made was kinda useless almost because of the fluctuation of the water level and TR bass are more inclined to stay deep for the most part. Have seen QUITE a bit of rock piles completely out of the water on the bank which is obviously not going to hold fish. Even at normal power pool it would be in like 1-5 feet of water and also don't think it is much of a fish attractant. If it floods like it did in 2008 and 2011 then I could see it coming into play but how often does the flooding of that magnitude happen? Not often. Also said that rock piles were probably the best thing they added because of the reason you all have mentioned above. Also like stump fields on some of the areas they placed them. That is why there is this survey guys, to help them and us.
  16. Awesome pics added to an awesome report. Much appreciated.
  17. Dave how the heck did you let a fish take off with your new Spro Blue? Bad knot? Or just another excuse to run to the tackle store?
  18. Dylan, Go on Ebay and search "wiggle wart" and then just take a look at what colors are selling best or for the highest amount of $. The Hunter Boys color schemes are really going for high dollars $50+ bucks a piece so I would maybe paint something similar. Can never go wrong with greens, green pumpkins, browns with hints on oranges or reds in craw colored patterns. Good luck....I need a "gas fund" myself with the price going to be around $4+ this summer. Hope you do well. Here is a link to Hunter Bro's feedback. Click on the "view item" and it will show you the listing of the wiggle wart sold and the color pattern. Maybe give you some ideas as to what is selling well. http://feedback.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewFeedback2&userid=clhunter21&iid=200912078298&de=off&items=25&which=positive&interval=30&_trkparms=positive_30
  19. Have been to Phil's place and it is as clean and top notch as you will find on anywhere on Taneycomo....but its on TANEYCOMO not Table Rock like the OP is asking for.
  20. Completed the survey, thanks for the link. Only takes 1-2 minutes and I am sure the guys/gals at the MDC appreciate the feedback and it is all in effort to make our time on the water more enjoyable and preserve our fishery and resources. Whether you like the MDC fish habitat program or not feedback is the best way to let them know what to do or not do.
  21. Wow you are only 15? You have some serious skills young man. Those look fantastic. There is a for sale forum here on that I would dare to say you might do pretty well on just looking at your work. Give that a try. Ebay is also a good source to sell things but there is an ever growing amount of custom painters there now selling custom painted wiggle warts so the competition level is somewhat pretty high. Ebay custom painters on wiggle warts has seriously probably increased 10 fold in just the last 6 months to a year. Good luck with your talent and baits.
  22. That's how they wanted it about a week or so ago as well. Just enough of a pause to reel up your slack really. No more than 5 second pause at a time. Nice report Dave. Hope you slay them this week.
  23. Fantastic report WdBerkley. Awesome that your Dad caught some nice ones and broke his personal best in the same day. Too cool. Thanks for the solid report.
  24. Awesome report and congrats on the win.
  25. Nice report. That fish has an 8lb head and a 4lb body. Poor thing. I once caught a LM very similar that also had one eye, an irregular body and was 24" inches long and was missing probably 2 inches of his tail and yet probably only weighed 4lb's. He is forever known to me as "One Eyed Jack" as my grandfather named him. Would imagine the next 2 weeks they are really going to cut lose lake wide. Congrats on the nice day.
