  1. Ya. Gotta watch the tops of the feet for sure. Also the tops of the thighs right above the knee where the shorts end. I'm not the quickest learner but in both those cases it only took one lesson. Sunscreen is applied liberally. On a similar subject, does anyone actually use those hip new "buffs" that have become so popular the last couple of years? I understand sun protection but man I just don't think I would ever want to wear cloth or fabric over my head and face like a friggin' burka. Not knocking those that do wear/use them but I would 1000% rather put on some sun block on my face/ears/nose/neck vs "buff".
  2. This is why during the summer months I wear board shorts and flip flops out in the boat. When I get hot just jump in for a minute then get back to fishing.
  3. X2. He is also right there in the dam area. Kinda late notice and he is more than likely booked (either TR or chasing trout on Taney) but give him a call certainly. Won't find a better guide or guy on TR. http://whiteriveroutfitters.com/ Lodge # 800.544.0257 Cell #: 417.332.7016
  4. I'm at a computer all day at work as well. I am quite the multitasker. Should see me fish a spook while picking my nose and eating a sandwich.
  5. That probably would have been the smartest idea. Let the police or game warden sort it out. Probably would have given them a fine that is the equivalent to the "trashing" you gave to their site and you get your traps back. Also would not have run the risk of them coming back and catching you destroying their stuff. This day in age you don't know what nutballs are gonna do and maybe you get yourself shot over a silly crawdad trap.
  6. It's a fun little system we have when I am down for more than just a day or two. If I get down for 4 days then I have enough time to mess with it. Bass fish the AM's and at night, catch the perch/bluegill during the hot part of the day. Check the line after the morning bass outing, then again before going out just before sundown, reloading at each check. Works for us and has been a successful system. Only after cats but have had a few rare bass on there before. Also quite a few turtles. Biggest cat we've had is about a 35lb flathead and usually get a couple in the 10-25lb range each time we do it. Typically do a trip end late lunch fish fry and some of the bigger "black perch" and bluegill get thrown in the fryer as well. Hungry just thinking about it.
  7. Hope none of those guys are a member on this forum! Busted!
  8. Remind me not to get on your bad side. Goodness! I'm shedding a tear for all that beer.
  9. Those actually look like a worthwhile bait with a nice design (both the denser head and round tentacles). I'm sure the smallies would just tear them up. I just rarely use tubes because for whatever reason fish just inhale the dang things and are gut-hooked too frequently for my taste. Not sure why that is maybe the hollow design that collapses easily for them to swallow? They are fish catchers no doubt but I hate pulling a fish from the water and see blood immediately pouring out of their gill plates.
  10. Instead of the 3" TRD or the 5" Zinker Z.......BINGO! The 4 inch TRD! As if we weren't cutting down the Zinker to size anyways. Reminds me of this:
  11. Hey now! I resent that! I think the way you worded it made it sound like you didn't mark your lines and had them tied a few feet down on the tree/tie off object to avoid detection. I THINK that's all Bo was saying and was pointing out in that case it would be illegal and potentially dangerous. It's been a few years since I've set a trotline but I think if you CLEARLY mark you line MOST if not all people will leave it alone. Just like anything else a few bad apples ruin it for everyone. The lazy thieves running your lines or the chumps that don't mark their junk or never take it in leaving a friggin' mess in the lake for months (or longer) both suck. Typically I would check ours 2 or 3 times a day and reload bait during those checks.
  12. Larry Dahlburg (Plopper Designer) is a renowned lure designer but usually deals in soft plastics and resin concoctions. I think he just happened to use that plastic for the tail on the plopper on a whim, the lure became a hit and River 2 Sea has just stuck with it. If they went to a harder plastic or heat resistant tail piece one would think it would be better but at this point in production that probably isn't going to happen. Muskie guys have been using the "plopper" style baits for a while and here is a bait that has a hard tail section. I believe someone here on TR used it when ploppers were kinda hard to come by in a pinch when they REALLY took off after Watson's win on TR last fall. Not sure on all the sizes that they carry. Would imagine this bait precedes the plopper by quite a ways. Tyrant Tackle Crusader
  13. You and I are in the same boat. Well said. I have all sorts of brands and am not a "fan boy" of certain things. If they work...they work. Although I am becoming more and more partial to Daiwa stuff. Plus my HUK/Daiwa rebate hoodie just came yesterday, so I have to pimp their gear now I guess. It's no jersey like Champ likes to sport but it will work.
  14. Well I used some Bass Pro ones YEARS ago and they were the small size, maybe a size 0 or 1? They were total trash. I wouldn't dare use them again. It goes back to a thread we had going a few weeks ago about the price of baits and upgrading components. I understand if you have a tight budget and just can not afford to spend any extra on better hooks, rings, etc. But if you can afford it and don't upgrade hardware on some baits (the WP in this case) you are risking losing fish, perhaps THE FISH. I don't get to fish NEARLY as much as I would like as I am 4 hours from TR and have a growing family of 4 (+2 furry, slobbering children). So when the stars align, the I-44 Sea parts, the wife has a momentary lapse in judgement and I get to get away for a weekend I want to make the most of it. You spend all this money to chase these green and brown fish between gas, boat (and maintenance), rods, reels, line, baits, etc etc etc and you don't want to spend an extra $20 to upgrade your baits to ensure you have the best possible trip? I just don't get that. For one Jefferson (I guess a "Tubman" soon) and about 20 min of your time swapping components on suspect baits in order to land more fish without issue and have peace of mind with every cast that is a small price to pay.
  15. Owner and Spro if you want 100% fool proof and peace of mind. If you are in a pinch and want to take a risk Eagle Claw or Danielson will work. If immediate failure is your goal purchase Bass Pro split rings. Haven't tried Worth, VMC or Molix.
  16. Dave just looks for any excuse to put up any rod and grab his Ned'er.
  17. Fighting your inner crappie chaser? I could picture you set up in Schooner with spider "ned" rigs ablazin'. When all lines were set I would imagine you would make the same evil mastermind cackle as you did when you ran over poor Punxsutawney Phil.
  18. You mean to tell me you haven't tried a double, triple or quadruple rigged Ned? I find that hard to believe. I thought you were Mr. Hoover and vacuumed up any and all fish with the lil' guy. Maybe step your game up to a Dyson. Way better.
  19. Have never heard of this. My only few thoughts would be: 1. Has the angle of the plastic tail been altered as a result of heat, on a hot front deck in the sun or having it laying in a certain position for a length of time in a hot storage container/box? If that angle gets altered it would change the way the bait throws water and "plops". 2. Is there any corrosion or build up on the wire or shaft that the tail rotates on? Maybe those spacer beads got gummed up are causing friction on the tail and it's unable to spin freely or with added resistance? The tail piece naturally is pushed back towards the tail end on retrieve so maybe look there if there is more resistance from something. 3. Shaft of wire holding the tail is slightly bent? That's all I got.
  20. Sorry, it was put on a tee for me. It's all in good fun! Feel free to take jabs at my Tigers. The ones not as LSU's Tigers.
  21. It worked for Mangino at Kansas, to a point. Then a black hole developed and imploded on itself. You see the result as the nothingness that is the KU football program in the Lawrence Nebula.
  22. I also listened to the video with my headphones. Helped quite a bit.
  23. I had forgotten about that. Thanks for the laugh.
  24. I just don't see the appeal on this one. If you are wanting to go finesse which is subtle presentation, why have more action, flair and larger profile with a skirt??? Kinda defeats the purpose. If I am wanting to use a jig, I'll just use a standard casting jig in the size I want with the trailer I want. Each tool has its place. This jigs seems like using a sledgehammer on finishing nails. Just my opinion.
