  1. i know. Smoked the f*** out of it. SOP for me. BTW, I'm 6'2" and 280 lbs. To give the picture some perspective.
  2. The end of my line. Jerkbait,
  3. It's January. You're going nowhere. Ask advise the end of May. Good grief.

    Tattoos

Everything is art. As long as YOU do it. Spray paint a wall? No, not graffiti! ART! Gather naked people together? Conceptual ART! String some plastic beads together for a wrist? Fashion ART! Have no talent, but have a compelling (read: difficult and/or being un-Caucasian) personal history? Write a biography or splatter paint on a canvas. High brow ART! Re-paint old fishing lures? Low brow outdoorsy ART! Moral of the story? Don't paint hawks.
  5. Why are we always "simplifying" things? Why is "simpler" perceived as "better?" That, for example, if we somehow pare down our fishing lures to a few basics and favorites, that our fishing experience will not only improve, but make us the successful anglers we are (were) meant to be. Most of us know, in our heart of hearts, that we generally throw the same lures and flies 95% of the time. The rest is for show and tell. I, for example, throw a white super fluke almost all the time for smallies. Just recently, I've started throwing topwater all the time. But that's it. I'm cutting myself off. Yet, I still carry a bunch of everything else. In case. In case what? They're hitting crankbaits. Red. 2 to 3 feet down. Or. The stream is up. The stream is down. The stream is clear. The stream is murky. White 3/16th spinnerbaits with gold willow leaf blades and a grub trailer (knocked 'em out on the Piney last week). Ned rigs. OH MY GAWD! Ned rigs! Homemade jigs with enticing orange and brown silicone thingies. Don't forget jerkbaits. They haven't forgotten you. Chompers. Craw worms. Sliders. Marabou. Rabbit. Morning. Noon. Night. Deep water. Shallow water. Sunny. Cloudy. Spinning reel. Baitcaster. 6 or 8 0r 10 or 4 pound test. Fast. Sloooww retrieve. Wade fish. Canoe. Kayak. Jon boat. Jet boat. Drift boat. Nah, no drift boat. Meramec. Huzzah. Piney. Gascondade. Bourbeuse. Current. Crooked Creek. White River. Today. Tomorrow. Next week. One day two days three days one week. With friends. Alone. Nevermind. Simplifying would be too complicated for me.
  6. I know I'm a crab, but I just can't leave this simplicity thing alone. I go to the White every year in January or February, so, I just like being prepared for any water condition. Too much time and effort go into these trips, so I'd rather not limit myself for simplicity's sake. I don't think this approach makes me a better or worse fisherman. But, obviously, I should get over MY fishing ideals, such as they are. I am a deluxe wanker.

    1St Place Mizzou!

From Division II to the SEC. Oooof! I'm skeptical. Let's see if he can recruit. If you don't have talent, it's too hard to win in today's major college hoops.
  8. Your success rate will improve the farther you travel from your access point, Which is everyone elses too. On a likely busy day on the stream, try walking, walking, and more walking, to get away from other fishermen. Don't stress too much on your fly selection. Pick something and throw it. Lures and flies only work when they are in the water. So quit fussin and start fishing.
  9. So, in your opinion Ham, are the browns coming off their beds now?
  10. oy.
  11. Overthink this: Take a spinning rod with big jerkbaits on 8 pound test to the White River and hire a guide. Especially if BSD is running water. Okay? Get over your one fly box ideal.
  12. I saw a drift boat being pulled behind a vehicle on the road to Tan Vat (from Mauntauk) last Saturday morning. Why? WTF? Am I missing something? When are f****** OARS needed to float from Tan Vat and Baptist to Cedar? Good grief. I'm all for different strokes and finding your tao, but... Drift boats?
  13. I wish AGF would put a slot limit on rainbows on the White (in a semi limited area). Just think how big they would grow. Then we wouldn't be talking about color, would we?
  14. It takes knowledge, skill, and passion to catch fish on a fly, while filming in HD, then editing it in a stylized way for public consumption. I possess none of those attributes. Just lumbering along hoping to get lucky. I will say that I'm tired of the Current being so low for so long. Doesn't help my method of fishing at all. Still fun. No big whup. 70s. Bell bottoms. Long straight hair. Chevy Novas jacked up.
  15. Sorry, no GoPro or flyfishing shenanigans. Rapala F11 and cigars.
  16. Mizzou isn't a top ten team. They got blown out at home to Georgia and lost, again at home, to a lousy Indiana team. Their "best" wins came against teams that are 7-5 and 6-6. Their ranking could be a little higher, but not top ten. A miracle win would hurt Alabama more than it would help Mizzou. They are destined for an okay bowl game.

    Quick Report

Minimum flow keeps fish alive in the summer. Right? Trout? In Arkansas? Next, AG&F needs to manage rainbows on the White for size. Imagine the possibilities if rainbows were allowed to grow in certain sections. The White would be stellar. Big browns. Big rainbows.
  18. It sucked. For three fishermen. For four days (one fisherman fished for three days, two fishermen fished for two). Over 20 miles covered. Covered with countless casts of every type of lure over every inch of water. Makes three years in a row. Just wait til next year.
  19. Posting Under the Influence. Just got it. Shameful behavior on my part, I'll vouchsafe.

    New Pb Brown

I'm complimenting you Kayser. I'm jealous. You're young and already flailing away. And documenting it in a modern way. Bully on you. You can't "get" your "friends to understand why (you) fish so much." Nor should you. Do what what you love to do, everything else will fall in place ,

    Pizza With Sourdough

There is nothing like making bread, Good on you Ness for a pizza dough with a sour dough starter. Info from my experience (not that you need it, please). 1. do not use table salt. period. 2. use a better (ok different) flour, not bleached, less processed, more organic (gawd) and hopefully more local. 3. let your starter ferment more (even in the fridge) for a more distinct flavor and mouth feel. 4. ignore 1 through 3 because obviously you like what you made. 5. then ignore me, and eat up!

    New Pb Brown

Nice fish. Nice images.. Seems to me trout fisherpersons take "photographs" and "films." Bass people take "pictures" and "videos."
  23. No, it shouldn't. And you guys have no right to give information on a public stream, especially one so small and fragile. What is this anyway? Some public forum or such?

    College Football

Luckily didnt see game. Maty Mauk is a sophomore with less than 10 games under his belt in arguably the toughest college football conference. They lost to a team that is correctly ranked higher than them and is more talented all around. I think our expectations are a little too elevated for this team.
