Bassmaster, if you don't mind, what kind of watercraft were you using? You were standing, I saw a paddle, yet it looks like your vessel can accommodate a trolling motor and/or something bigger. Looks interesting to me. Thanks in advance.

Trip Report - 3/29 And 3/30 And An Armed Confrontation With Landowners
joeD replied to hoglaw's topic in Crooked Creek
Huh? Did I miss something? Wasn't the thread topic "...Armed Confrontation?" Was asking where this incident occurred so out of bounds? But, as usual, I have offended. So, the point of thread is, now, my indiscretion, and the umbrage many have taken with my choice of words. And the attendant glee with which other posters can pile on, affording the opportunity to give their own negative opinion of me and who I am. Fair enough. Hoglaw: You are correct. I am a female, or at least I am becoming one. Due to my weight issues, I seem to be growing a nice set of breasts. In fact, my nipples can rival any 18 year old co-ed. Thus, and I mean this sincerely, I have no problem kissing your, or any other swinging dicks on this forum"s, behind. Hey, as the immortal Lady Gaga says, I was "Born That Way." I can't help it, I was reared this way. I couldn't leave my brother's behind. So, I guess, in a manner of speaking, Hoglaw (or anyone else), if you are ever in Fenton MO and at loose ends, please feel free to give me a call. You never know.... -
If your son wants a big brown trout on the White, hope for generation, then, put down the fly rod, pick up a spinning rod with at least 8 pound test, and throw big (BIG) jerkbaits. Yes, chucking big lures, on a big river, is not glamorous. It is not Montana. But, your choice. Laugh with the sinners or cry with the saints. And we know who the saints are. They will be the guys with a fly rod in their hand, pounding away at the same fast water holes. But. But. As always. Your choice. And there is nothing wrong with that. Fishing is it.

Trip Report - 3/29 And 3/30 And An Armed Confrontation With Landowners

Hoglaw: Thank you for your answer. Obviously, there is plenty left unsaid. In fact, maybe you should have left it unsaid, feeling the way you do about the incident. Seems to me that you were not wholly innocent. However, I do think it is your duty to reveal the whereabouts of this confrontation. This is not an attempt to place blame, but to inform others who frequent CC about possible dangers. I love CC and have floated and gravel bar camped (not so much lately ) many times. I have not had any problems, so, this incident is quite worrisome to me. Again, no blame or fault is implied by me. Just facts. Me me me me me. Yes, I know, I am quite selfish. -
Trip Report - 3/29 And 3/30 And An Armed Confrontation With Landowners
joeD replied to hoglaw's topic in Crooked Creek
Hoglaw: So, as an aside to your fishing trip report, you just happen to mention being confronted by two armed individuals, at night, on a popular fishing stream, threatening you and your fiancee, yet, you don't mention exactly where it happened. Why not? Don't you think people ought to know where this happened? So as to be informed and prepared? Why mention it if you don't tell us this obvious danger to fishermen and campers? I don't get it. Please tell us exactly where and what gravel bar this happened. The safety of others hangs in the balance. Again, I don't get it. I get no sense of fear or outrage. Just rote ramblings about navigable waters and other pointless legalese. And kudos about your impending marriage. I'm quite sure I am missing something. My apologies. -
I wouldn't worry too much about the length of the contract. Coaches are immune to contracts. They can pick up and leave for another school without any repercussions. Let the mediocrity begin!

Of note, every wadeable stretch of the White is known to almost every fly fishermen. You will be sharing the river with many other anglers at any given time. Now, if you want to broaden and deepen and fulfill your angling destiny, you should consider fly fishing for smallmouth bass. All the fun, and then some, without all the crowds.

The SEC has three teams that are winning. Doesn't mean that the SEC was somehow under rated. UCLA has won 11 titles, but that doesn't mean the Pac 10 was a great conference. Get past your "conference" strength arguments. They are useless and beside the point. It is about a team that is playing well, and playing better than their opponent on a given day. Period. Not to mention: They are still kids. Big ones, athletic ones, fast ones, whatever. Still just kids. Sticking with Florida. Not strongly though. Virginia might be it this year.

Frank Haith is not a good coach. Nor is he a good fit for Mizzou basketball. Once Uof M realizes this, then, once again, we can move forward. (Please stop with Kim Anderson entreaties. While popular, he is overmatched in this venue). Mizzou basketball deserves more than the recent futility the current regime gives them. And us.

Clay- Please record and post digital information (pictures and/or video) of 10 pound brown trout. Obviously you have a camera with you. I would hazard a guess that most forum trolls would rather see a trophy fish than multiple takes of 12' stockers. I could be wrong though. Trolls have no thoughts.

Do not mistake water clarity for fishing success and/or opportunity. Your question is too vague for any kind of effective and helpful answer. There is a lack of information as to where you live, how far you want to travel, skill level, desire to be successful, etc. In other words, be specific, otherwise, rig your rod and go fishing wherever and whenever you want. You'll learn much more than anything we can give you. Figure it out.

Heart or brain? Do you want to win money or do you want go down fighting (cheering) for your team? Florida will win.

Just saw the "Lego Movie." Excellent! I highly recommend it. Smart. Clever. Modern (all things that I am not). No poaching or gigging in that movie by the way. So, getting back to me....

Hmm. Used to be a good spot. Now I know: Ruined by a woman. Joking. Congratulations. Good luck. I'm old. Like A/C and a bed.

Guilty as charged. Addendum: Blazerman, after 209 posts, you are hardly a neophyte, Not a "regular" per se , in terms of number of posts, which, I assume, is your implication. And the perceived cynicism and negativity that goes with it. A majority of my posts can be presented as "Exhibit A" as it were. However, the reality is that most posts on this forum are met with enthusiasm, humor, information and good will. There are certainly some subjects that are flashpoints for spirited debate. But, while some subjects consume and focus much discussion among a passionate minority, the reality is, that we are all here for you. Fishing is fun.

BTW- Georges Creek. Now you actually have to slog up it and up the hill to the road if you want to get out (reverse to put in) there. The field downstream isn't an option anymore. As of October. Check with Jimmy W at CCCanoes. He'll tell you. And then some.

Garrisons To Onondaga - Frozen? Canoe Trip 2/15-2/16
joeD replied to Whiskey Joe's topic in Meramec River
People were stronger in the past. And smarter too. Common sense. Can you imagine!? Seatbelts in cars! What's next, giving our kids shots so they don't get sick and die? Geez, next thing you know, moms will have reglar jobs and be able to vote! PSHAW! (Go git me another beer Junior) -
Mizzou boosters and fans will not tolerate any "rebuilding." Especially when the football team is doing well on the field and off. The climate for large and visible schools is to win NOW. Coaches understand this. Fans don't. Let me put it this way: If you love and support your school, especially sports, you show up to games regardless. Support your school. In Mizzou's case, just look at all the empty seats on any given broadcast. We're a bunch of whiners who will only support a winner. Face it, the fan base of Mizzou hasn't gotten over Norm Stewart.

11 pictures. Differeent times, diffefrent years. Still, not 200.

1, I'm done with Mizzou 2. No heart 3. No defense 4. No faith in Haith anymore, despite old posts regarding support of said ineffective coach 5. Bench all starrters, play scrubinos the rest of the game. 6. Knee jerk reaction acknowledged. 7. Frustrated with play of an obviously talented team.

Potential World-Record Brown Trout Through The Ice
joeD replied to Phil Lilley's topic in General Angling Discussion
Ice fishing in the middle of nowhere in the middle of winter. Yet. It was recorded. Hmm. -
You should get together with Al Agnew. Numbers might top 300. Sorry. I'll stop now. Serious. What time is it? OK. One more.
