  1. I've read that about both the Current and Eleven Point rivers both in the last couple weeks? Don't know what to believe.
  2. Good call on the buzzbait in current and weed edges. Never really thought of that although I do it for largemouths quite a bit. What size flukes do you use?
  3. Never really tried them since I usually fish in current (or real close to it). Don't imagine those types of baits work well in current. I suppose if I was fishing early morning or late evening when the smallies go hunting for minnows in the shallows or slack water, I might give them a try? I don't get a chance to fish those times of the day often since we usually float or wade fish during the day, but I honestly can't remember seeing a smallie hit something near the top of the water but a couple times. All the big ones I have ever caught were in deep holes with current holding tight to cover.
  4. Those undercut bluffs are awesome. Thanks for sharing.
  5. As in Rebel Teeny Craws?
  6. Floating the Current from Williams Landing to Two Rivers in a couple weeks. I have wade fished at Round Spring three times and had a lot of success on Strike King Bitsy Tubes. Honestly that's pretty much all I ever use for smallies anymore. However, if those should fail me, what are your go to baits. I plan on packing a couple crawdad pattern cranks, small spinner baits, 4 inch worms, spinners, and a few maribou jigs. Can you think of anything else?
  7. Somehow I failed to notice until yesterday that this was going on (or I guess already happened). Hope it happens again next year. I'm always readyfor an extra float trip.
  8. You and me both. Had a two day float from Pultite to Two Rivers planned with two other couples. My gf and one other backed out and now we are doing just one 12 mile float from Williams Landing to Two Rivers.
  9. That last picture is too cool it almost looks fake!
  10. 2 Rivers Canoe Rental does floats all the way to Big Spring (which is just past Van Buren if I remember correctly). You would have to schedule your pickup time, but they do it. Sounds like a good time to me.
  11. So you floated from Slabtown to Ross on this trip?
  12. Looks like a natural
  13. Nice bass on top of being a double!
  14. Haven't seen them in stores for a while (I'll let you know if that changes), but several friends and I have used a Walmart chair similar to this: http://www.basspro.com/Bass-Pro-Shops-Canoe-Stadium-Seat/product/10213338/-1666420 except the arm rest are 90 degrees. Very sturdy and durable. They have been in tipped canoes pinned against log jams with rushing current and have never broken.
  15. If you're not worried about the crowds can I come?
  16. I paddled upstream about a mile (I think to where Pearson Creek comes in) from Creighton last summer. There were some decent spots in between, but the river was just starting to look good. Unfortunately, it was getting late so I couldn't go up any further. I would recommend trying that.
  17. Thanks for the info. I do love trout fishing, but the group I am going with rarely, if ever, fishes for trout. And honestly, having never fished a river, I would be much more confident in my ability to catch smallies than trout.
  18. I'm planning a two day float for about 8 of us total in mid-August. We are going to camp Friday night and float Saturday and Sunday. What's a good section of the river for fishing with either a campsite or ample on-shore spots to camp in the middle? We are looking more for smallies but definitely don't mind some rainbows. We'll need canoe's and shuttle service as well. Also, how does the Eleven Point compare to the Jack's Fork as far as speed of floating? We usually float Alley to Two Rivers (16 miles) on the JF fishing heavily on the way in about 12 hours.
  19. I keep telling people. I have tried everything there for over a dozen floats the last few years. Nothing else catches fish like those bitsy tubes.
  20. WOW, what a change! With all those changes to the bank, what would be your estimate as to the highest level where one could still wade?
  21. Can you recommend a canoe/shuttle service for the Buffalo float? How's the camping at Buffalo Point?
  22. It's not that I left them out. I have just floated the JF and Current several times. While I love the JF, I want to try another river.
  23. I am looking to plan a late summer float and camping trip. I have been on the Jack's Fork, Current, Meramec, Big, and Huzzah rivers so I am looking to try something else. I really like the blue, spring fed scenic rivers like the Jack's Fork. I was thinking about the Eleven Point, Buffalo, St. Francis, or Black rivers but would be open to other suggestions. Need good smallmouth fishing and a place to tent camp with showers and canoe rentals. Would like to keep it under a 4 hour drive. Thanks
  24. Those were awesome. Thanks for sharing
