  1. If you want to cut through bones get an electric. Save the wear and tear on your wrist. I'd like to try the litium ion version of the Rapala electric knife. My original Rapala electric has been going on 10 years. I just buy replacement blades every 2 or three years.
  2. We caught 4 hybrids last weekend. Couldn't keep the blue cats off the hook. Had a lot of Blues in the slot. Fun Day. I like to catch hybrids, but Blues are fun too. There was a lot of bait on the humps around KK later in the day.
  3. Yep and there's always a bass fisherman in the other crowd that thinks the stripers are ruining his bass fishing, despite all the numerous studies that prove it simply isn't true. Dinosaurs gonna be Dinosaurs I guess.
  4. It's not the arrow, it's the Indian. Buy an 11$ Berkeley and 9 dollar ceramic sharpener to hit the blade with in between filets. Spend the rest on gas for your new boat.
  5. I don't blame you for being ignorant, but it's been established that there were naturally occurring riverine populations of stripers that never made the journey back to salt long before impoundment or stocking made their presence in fresh water more predominant, so I guess god wanted them in freshwater too.
  6. Your mom told you to stop or you would be.
  7. Not me. I'll probably go Tomorrow. Looking at the USGS gauge this morning, it should be fine.
  8. nice one Billethead. I wondered if you'd been catching any.
  9. No, it's not possible. there are only 5? I believe naturally reproducing populations of landlocked stripers in the United States. They need a very long, 30-40 mile plus length of free flowing river with a high salinity content to reproduce naturally. Beaver tailrace meets none of the criteria.
  10. I've been told that Missouri is one of the few states that requires probable cause to pull a boat over on the water. I don't know of that is true or not.
  11. I couldn't tell you. I think I've heard it's a blind drawing and I think I've heard it's first come first serve but the locals with those blinds have been hunting the same spot for 20 years and think it's their property. I don't know for sure. Personally, I wouldn't think it worth the effort for a pressured marginally good to poor piece of water but I guess it's up to you. I'd call KDWP for clarification before hunting it.
  12. Anthony Bourdain filmed a hunt out there when he was in town filming No Reservations a few years ago.
  13. I don't know. A lot of this story puzzles me, but very sad anyway you look at it for all parties involved. http://www.desmoinesregister.com/story/news/2014/06/02/witness-describes-brandon-ellingsons-struggle-water-clive/9895195/?sf26877813=%5B%271%27%5D
  14. I grew up in Batesville. I caught some really nice trout in the white water below the lock in town when I was in High School. You can catch a lot of them at the Lock and Dam by Locust Grove or Bethesda
  15. You know, Truman is a lake that I never catch accidental bass on live shad. Weird. I know I'm no help, but I don't LM fish. I guess what I'm saying is that they aren't suspendend on offshore humps eating shad during the summer or I'd have caught one.
  16. Wild butt guesses here, but that's how I work on my own stuff. Underneath the switch on the foot pedal that you step on, there is a rubber cap that is supposed to keep water out of the switch. Make sure it's not worn. If it is, it won't depress the actual switch which lies underneath it. The other thing is that the switch you bypassed would melt internally if I used it on 5 (high) for too long. Make sure you have continuity through the switch and that the terminals haven't melted away inside.
  17. We went last weekend and the two 5 year old girls just had a blast catching bluegill. It's a good time to take a kid fishing up there.
  18. I wonder if there was impact to Shoal Creek.
  19. Please get current. It is now referenced as "the rig" or "the little rig". In case you are scoring at home. Jig head with worm = midwest finesse rig = ned rig = the little rig = the rig.
  20. I dont no weather or knot you guy's are trieing to sound holyier than thow, but its suck seeding. What do you mind if some won makes a miss steak spelling they're peas and cues? Are you like a principal at the school or something? You know what makes me mad? When the neighborhood punks walk on my grass.
  21. Actually, the correct terminology has been changed to "hoosiers"
  22. I'm heading up Tomorrow afternoon Phil. Doing all those same activities. We'll probably be more South towards Mutton creek though. I don't get service up there or I'd send you my phone number. I'd like to get a couple of those decals. We did real well last weekend on the walleye and crappie. Hoping to repeat it Tomorrow.
  23. That's a nice report on Grand. Sounds like a fun day with your boy. thanks for posting.
  24. Nice hairdo and Shorts, Phil. Those are some sexy legs. I've been meaning to send this to you for a couple days. I saw it on another forum I frequent. I think an honest compliment is one that someone pays you when you aren't around, so i thought you might want to see it. Congrats on your success.
