Wow, I just usually apologize, load up my gear and leave the trout park... Fishin's better on the river anyways... But sometimes I flatten their tires, poop on their hood, pour gasoline through their sunroof, light a match and dance naked around the bonne-fire... Suppose it depends upon my mood. But I assure you of the one thing I will NEVER do.. And that's pause for a moment in my routine and allow the uneducated to pass behind me unhooked. Anymore, being overtly polite is just an excuse to get walked on.

Anyway, regarding the subject.. First thing you'd have to decide is how to shorten up the shaft of the trolling motor.. Maybe even do away with it all together? As I mentioned to you before, I've seen real fancy kayaks the have the trolling motor attached/recessed into the bottom, complete with hand controls and foot peddles for the rudder! It looked kewl and all, but you'd destroy it in these ozarks rivers pretty quick just because there was no protection for the motor... Second is handling.. Are you planning to steer with the trolling motor, or ruddering with your paddle? Battery weight will always be a problem, but as someone pointed out you could just re-purpose a small battery from a smaller car (salvage yard), they weight allot less and would prolly still do the job... You'll definitely need to consider counter weighting your battery on the front end of the boat, or maybe you could run wiring to the front of the boat and put your battery there? (guess that depends upon the structure of your boat, eh?)

Not the motor, the vessel (with motor attached).. Non motorized vessels need no markings, the way I understand it..

Well, I hope you don't mind my slight hijack of your thread (the weedeater idea sounds kewl!) but I am currently in this pickle.. I've got a canoe, a wooden trolling motor mount that I've made, I also have the motor and the battery... So does anyone know the law, for sure? I just have the word of the water patrol at Barclay a few years ago who said: "Where's your registration for this vessel? You have no markings on the side.. Any vessel with a motor MUST be registered." To which my question was: "How do I license it?" I was told I must have a title... I do not, it's a canoe... So what now?

As a lazy man, I find this to be an admirable goal... My question is still: how will you get around the fact that once you mount a motor on it, it MUST be licensed...?

I leave the waders at home and strap on some sandals.. Some call it "wet wading", normally I call it "swimming and fishing"...

The stylists I know, after being rebuffed by the counter person, would either throw a fit and demand service or (more likely) they'll take a photo of the feathers they want to a friend who IS a fly fisherman and have THEM go in and buy it for them.. Where there is a will there is a way is all I'm saying... and there's apparently a large demand for feathers in that industry right now... I'm still chucklIng about the mental image of a few salon owners (some of them looking "absolutely fabulous, darling") having a verbal confrontation with Bass Pro shop employees.. aughta be interesting!

There ain't no fish in them rivers, but there's plenty of landowners to argue with... You're better off spending your money on a time share in Hawaii or something.. I hear the smallies there are badazz, Maui is a City Boy's paradise... (and then all your city friends will wanna visit... Who's gonna wanna visit you in Competition? lol)
