Dam to Long Creek 3/14/26
razorbackfan4life replied to snagged in outlet 3's topic in Table Rock Lake
Sounds like a great day! Dad and I drove up from NWA to fish same day. He enjoys Indian Creek so we put in there. Caught 3 good keepers right off the bat at the fork of Big and Little Indian. Shad were thick in and around main channel. But didn't want to scope all day and we went back into Big Indian to try the jig bite. Not even a nibble in 1.5 hours. Tried wart on a couple of banks and didn't have any luck. We caught our 3 on Jerkbait, Swimbait, Spinnerbait. -
We went to Table Rock(Indian Creek) only caught 3. Wanted to catch some shallow, but they were MIA. Could have caught more out in main creek channel, but didn't want to scope all day. Should have gone to Beaver.. Thought about it, but had heard the bite was good on TR and I haven't been up there in several months.

That's Arkansas weather for you. Wait 5 minutes and it will change.

I unfortunately didn't measure that 6.2 I caught in early January. But judging by that length chart the fish would have been 8/9 years old. I'm hoping the vegetation can grow more and more. I know it's tough on a highland reservoir due to the constant change of the lake level thru the corps of engineers. Any vegetation that was able to take hold would help the bass growth. Also I've always wondered if they could add a new species of bait fish that like to stay shallow. The more the merrier.

Great pictures.. Looks like I need to make a trip up there.

Appreciate the post! Love those days when you catch the trifecta of bass. Spawn is just around the corner.

I will add to this. Whether it's just luck, or a sign of things to come, I've caught one over 6lbs , three over 5lbs , and four over 4lbs in the past 1.5 years. I've also caught two smallmouth over 4 in that same time period. Two of the 4lb blacks I caught within 5 minutes of each other. There was a bunch of shad moved in a creek I was fishing. Thought I was about to win the fishing tournament, but the Striper nudged in on the area I caught the bass, and the bass just quit being aggressive. I tried everything I could think of to catch one more, but it just didn't happen. Beaver is weird, you will catch a lot of the 2-3lb largemouth certain times of the year, but the bigger ones are harder to come by at those times. Seems like winter up to pre spawn is when they are more available to catch. Which is typical on most lakes. So we know that there are quality bass in Beaver, but not the #'s we'd all like to see.

We went out yesterday to Little Clifty and Rambo. Caught about 15 in 5 hours, but no big ones. There was quite a bit of bait in Little Clifty. Caught mostly Kentuckys. Wiggle wart and grub(scoping). Then the striper moved in like they always do and the bass became apprehensive. We got into Rambo about 11:30 and I caught a couple of Kentucky's scoping moving across a pocket in 60 ft of water, they were down about 15 ft cruising along. One was a pretty chunky fella. Dad caught a few additional Kentucky's on ned rig. Tried the shallow bite and caught a couple of blacks, but they weren't as active as the K's. I didn't find much bait fish in Rambo. Before we left I was cruising around all over trying to find fish on the scope, but there was NOTHING. I think the last hour or so I didn't see a single fish or ball of shad.

I know, and our next full moon looks to be on March 3rd. Could have some early ones. I'll be down at Broken bow that weekend, and last year we went on the 3rd weekend of march. The males were on the beds all across the lake. Caught like 60-70 a day. Good times

Might be an early spawn this year if the water doesn't get much colder. We went yesterday, launched from Lost Bridge south. Water was running 43-45. Kinda shocked me. Bite was good when the clouds were overhead. Then the sun came out and that was that.

Broken Bow Lake
razorbackfan4life replied to razorbackfan4life's topic in General Angling Discussion
We went this past December and had luck on the wiggle wart. I also caught several on a jerk bait. It's nice fishing that lake because it fishes like a new lake still. Not much pressure. Very noticeable when I'm running live scope on them. The fish commit at a much higher percentage than they do on Beaver, or any other lake where I live. My heart will always be for straight up jig fishing. Nothing beats it. I'll have a couple tied on for sure. I've never gone into Bee Creek. I've hit Otter, Biggam, Bear, and I finally went to the last long creek up the river South Linson Creek. Linson Creek was very productive. I'm definitely going to try that again. Just have to idle thru there when you get close, a lot of trees just off channel. Thank you for the tips. I'm really going to make an effort to catch a big one this trip. I enjoy catching numbers, but I'm craving a 6+ plus. -
Any of you ever fish that beautiful reservoir in South East Oklahoma? No docks(except rentals at Beavers Bend), no homes, just peace and quiet tucked away in Quachita mountains. We try to make it down there twice a year. Once in the late winter/early spring, and once in late fall early winter. We go down there in hopes of crappie and big bass. Every trip I've made we've either been too late or too early on the crappie. I have no clue where they go. I've scoped all over the creeks and haven't had luck. They must go out deep deep when they aren't spawning. The bass fishing has been great all but one time I've gone. I catch great #'s of bass, but no 5+ pound bass. They don't get pressured much. If the timing is right you can go out and catch 50-75 2 lb fish a day. Someone caught a 13.5 there in 2018 I believe. A friend of my dads caught one about 10lbs on a wiggle wart years ago. I know there are some giants swimming around down there, but haven't lucked into one yet in the last 5 years. I think we are planning on the second week of March this year. Maybe it will be perfect prespawn/spawn time. We went last week of March in 2025, and the males were everywhere. Wacky Rig delight.

Ready for the cold air to move out in a week to 10 days. I enjoy one good snow a year, and we are getting it now. Hope to get out there sometime soon.

Edit(The fish weighed 6.2) I've fished just about every arm on Beaver Lake, but there was one arm I had never really ventured in to other than the mouth. I told my fishing buddy(dad) to load up and we headed out that morning. It was the first day after a cold front, cloudy and windy. Water temperature was still running 49-51. Started out in Rocky Branch, and caught a nice 2.5-3 lb large mouth on wiggle wart, couple of additional small keepers and a nice 2.5lb smallmouth(scoped him). Then we headed to the spot I've never fished and landed this beauty. Caught it on a jig in back of pocket 4-6 ft deep. Shortly after that dad landed a 4lber on wiggle wart in same area. Quality fish were shallow that day. We did catch some keepers on points, but not the tournament winning ones. The bite was great all day. I think our best 5 would have gone 18/19 lbs. In true Beaver lake fashion we went out the next day and fished same part of lake and caught 4 fish in 5 hours with only 3 keepers. Largest being 2.5 smallie. It was bluebird skies and light winds. Livescope made it abundantly clear the fish weren't active that day on that part of lake.

I agree with Quillback. If you wanted even more seclusion you could live near Rocky Branch area. It's about 10-15 minutes further east on HWY 12 from the bridge, but there's a couple of boat ramps to choose from. From the ramp area its about 25 minutes from down town old Rogers, and probably 35-40 minutes from Mercy depending on how far out you wanted to live. Really beautiful and quiet in that area.

Saturday's tournament should be a good one. Clear skies but the wind should be 10-15 from the south with gusts towards 25. Curious to see the quality of fish brought in.
-
54-60 is jerk bait n jig water up there. Also if u want smallies throw the grub.
-
They are running I'm sure. Shad were everywhere around mont ne
-
Caught our limit then some. Too bad our biggest 7 only weighed 7 lbs. Leader had 9 when we left. Good day of fishing caught crappie from hickory creek to escaladia. Bass are biting aggressively too.
-
Can't go wrong with the smoke grub. They also will be hitting the jerkbait and jig IMO.
-
I'll be fishing it. We've had pretty good success the last couple of weeks so hopefully the big ones will bite.
-
I've been catching them in the main lake end for the past couple of weeks. I've been flipping jigs, and that's it. Find some dingy water(which isn't hard) and flip the jig right up in the bushes. The strange thing is, a few of the fish I caught on Wednesday evening had bloody tails. Almost like they were spawning, but I don't see that being the case.
