  1. Envy? NO. Jealous? NO. I was having a good day using my new boat and enjoying it.
  2. I know what you meant. And I can say what I want about a friend. And he is a goober.
  3. That's sad. Thanks for the update. I don't watch news.
  4. When the spear fisherman was missing last year near the dam, it was weeks before they found him. Once it's deep, water clarity is terrible they say. Tragic nonetheless.
  5. Awesome!!!!!!!!! Now that walleye are being targeted more than ever on Beaver, an ongoing restock program is needed. They are sustaining a good population it seems but the growth rates would mandate a healthy management program I would think. Thanks for the update!!!!
  6. http://www.4029tv.com/news/rescuers-search-for-missing-woman-after-canoe-tips-on-beaver-lake/31992082 Still no updates on the search (what the original story/post was about) I also spoke to the Water Patrol as they were docking for the day on Friday. I volunteered, rather I asked if they needed volunteers for sonar searching or otherwise and was told politely no, not at this time. They had not had any luck and continued to search over the weekend. I passed the search & rescue area Saturday. If the incident occurred where they were searching, they are not going to find her sadly. There is a shallow point at the mouth of that cove and a TON of submerged trees on the main channel side and if she sank there, I don’t think they will ever find her. After 50-60ft, even structure scan can get a little muddy on a hi-definition sonar. And the towable sonar buoy that they are using has incredible definition. My brother-in-law is a search and rescue diver and has searched for many people over the years. The statistics say if she is found it will be at least a couple weeks if that. I do hope they find her for the sake of the family. A beautiful young girl lost her life because “she was a good swimmer” and did not wear a PFD. I don’t care what certifications you have, if you’re a Navy Seal, etc. Wear a PDF!
  7. Was 48-51 in Rocky Branch yesterday. 51-53 in Prairie Creek. I bet it's 47-50 at Lost Bridge. Getting close to some good fishing.
  8. I'm not going to sell my Ranger on anyone. There are lots of good models out there today Phil. Just depends on what you're looking for. But a RT 178 with a 50 would be an awesome rig on Taney. Extremely stable fishing platform. No rocking or swaying when people are moving around. For the price paid, Ranger will win out on fishability over a few other brands I've tried. Some rock more than others. For a rental however, get the most affordable thing out there. No frills, bells, whistles, etc. A center console is nice. But a bass type rig is very versatile. Even for fly fishing. So I'm told. I haven't crossed over to that yet in life. Lol!
  9. Yeah.....like this one. Local "goober" for sure.

    YIKES!

Somebody needs to call one serious plumber. Lol!! Insane.
  11. Also sounds like Ike wanted out because he signed with Skeeter yesterday (or so I read on BBC).
  12. Well that's a cool deal that he posted that. Sounds like a win for all to me.
  13. (Boom) Mind Blown :-/
  14. Be sure and try some of my seasoning & sauce I gave you. I think you'll love it. :-)
  15. Good deal. I also totally agree. While I don't feel I myself am better, the new rig has certainly made things easier, more fun/relaxing, and the new fish finders..........well those are as essential as I felt they would be.
  16. Awesome. What does the wife think If the new ride? Bet she's happy too. Sounds like a good outing to me. I'm hoping this coming cold front doesn't shut them down again. The bite is picking up.
  17. The hollandaise sauce was great. Simple. Not too flavorful, just right. A buttery sauce of fresh fish. He did the work. I ate some fish. Win win. Lol!

    Odd SIghting

Somebody limped that poor thing back to the dock, put it on the lift, then went inside and changed their drawers! :-) I guess they felt insurance or something was going to settle out or maybe they have to find a trailer to take it somewhere. I'd probably take it right back to the lift until I figured things out too. As Roscoe P Coultrain used to say.... "Cleatus!! You done scuffed up my vehicle! And poor Flash lost her nummy num-nums!"
  19. These are the rods I'm using with spinning reels. I'm pretty happy with them. I held them side by side to the Lews crappie poles and for the price difference, I couldn't justify the extra cost. http://www.academy.com/shop/pdp/tournament-choice-premier-edition-12-freshwater-crappie-pole/pid-133435?color=Red&N=10001+4294724628+97010080&Ntt=tournament+choice+rod&Ntk=All And don't let the plastic fool you......it's extremely durable and tough. I've had all 4 rods hung up and the rods/holder brought my 19ft boat to a hault from a .5-.7mph troll. So it's durable enough. I only went with this option because I felt it was easier/faster to remove. I also thought it would interchange with my existing rod holders. But it DOES NOT. You have to have rod holders or extensions that are by THAT manufacturer so there is this to be aware of. http://www.academy.com/shop/pdp/mr-crappie-pro-series-rod-holder-system/pid-555301?N=387091155&Ntt=Mr.+Crappie+rod+holder&Ntk=All These are not the greatest reels but for spider rigging, they are great. The drag is actually smoother than some of my Shimano reels. (More room for adjustment) I've had crappie and big fish on these so they hold up well. I've even taken one of these and put it on a 7ft spinning rod and thrown other baits on it and I grew to like it. For spider rigs, you typically don't need a super tough hi-end reel. Some people use the tiny crappie baitcasters but that seems like a mess waiting to happen. For me at least. http://www.academy.com/shop/pdp/daiwa-strikeforce-b-spinning-reel-convertible/pid-1000755?N=933739031+10001&Ntt=diawa+spinning+reel&Ntk=All So that's my exact setup. I would have posted a photo but I'd have to dig it up off an archived flash drive. :-)
  20. That thing is an absolute beast. Biggest I've ever seen. That will hold for a while I bet. Unless there are a few more that size.
  21. It kinda did. Had a sign that said big fat paddler!! :-)
  22. Outstanding for taking the students out. And I bet that sleigh ride was a blast. A bit nervous, but fun!
  23. Lots of screenshots here.
  24. Probably not but if you're paddling, at least 10ft. The shallower you fish, the longer the rod. That's the rule I've read anyway. I'm still learning myself. And it's a Mr Crappie rod holder from Academy kjackson. It's removable. I have a mount on the bow.
  25. Think cheap. Long rod, (12ft min) and cheap reels under $20. I got the entire setup with Mr Crappie spider rig rod holder (up to four), rods, reels, and line for about $300. Rod holder is about $70ish, reels around $15, line around $10, rods about $25-30? It adds up quick. You can upgrade later if you like it.
