  1. They make boxes specific for spinnerbaits. Small, compact square and cube like shape. Strores plenty of baits. Keeps them dry and if you drill little holes in the lid, they can get ventilation and reduce rust, sticky skirtsz etc. Although I don't have that problem or rusting. War Eagles don't rust and look like new for a long long time. I've had some spinnerbaits for years.
  2. I was in the red alum. Ranger. Zeroed myself. The wind made it difficult to stay with them and when younwpuld get near the birds they would break up. Had one hook up but snapped my line before I could get back there and grab the rod. Took hook and some line with a VERY low drag setting so it wasn't a snag. I thought it was a snag at first but the head shakes were plunging the rod tip. Found some later just before noon on side scan and marked a point. Went back to them and tried jigging spoon and bucktail but they wouldn't bite. Right below my boat I'm 23ft. Wouldn't bite. Nothing else on live bait either. Wind pushed them down and they wanted it what they were following.
  3. Dodge. Because Jimmy Houston has his and been bragging on it ever since.

    Swepco Report

Your contact is just not making a good connection. I used to slam my pedal on the deck and that fixed it on my old one. Lol!! Good report and thanks!!
  5. So if flood waters occur this spring and summer, this could cause A LOT of issues.
  6. Yeah. He kept torture-texting me photos while I was in a meeting at work and then I had to pick up kids before a meeting after work. Timing is everything and he has the time. I don't. And it's killing me. Too much going on to take a day off. One day, I'll get to enjoy such fun and catch some big ones.
  7. And I like spinnerbaits and I do pretty well with them. What I want is a 1oz or 1-1/2oz spinnerbait from War Eagle.
  8. 400??? I have like 6 spinnerbaits. That's all I need. A few extra in a particular color. I don't lose that many and I have extra when needed. If I lose one in a trip, I'll replace it. I don't customize. I don't fret over blade colors. I buy them. They work. That simple. Lol!! War Eagle typically comes with a gold and chrome blade but you can get double chrome or double gold. Most of the color combinations sold in stores "as is" in package are just what you need. Takes all the work out. Sure you can try new things but they work as they come from the package.
  9. It is a sticky currently. It's at the top of the General Discussion forum. :- Welcome!! Post some images when you can. All about learning here.
  10. That's just aweful. So sorry to hear this. Prayers sent for the family. I myself would take little brother to ghelake, remember some fun times with Dad, some funny stories, some fishing memories, and cry/hug and whatever is needed. Shout. Scream if needed. Just dedicate the trip go Dad. And if fish were caught, hold them up and salute Dad. That's what I would do. Sounds like that's what you're planning. And I salute you for your idea and tribute. I think F&F can get you on fish. I've seen personally this week the fish caught.
  11. I know ECACTLY where I'd go then. I bet you could find them.
  12. I honestly don't know. With the low water, no idea. Hickory Creek has their dock out of the water and in the parking lot (rear ramp, not at marina). I understand your frustration. The walleye have been a bit mysterious this year. Maybe you should chunk and wind a jerkbait all day. Seems you have to bass fish to catch one. Lol!
  13. X2 on War Eagle. I think the owner bribed them to only support local businesses. I can't get a bite on anything other than War Eagle. I've tried Strike King, Terminator, and even some lifelike looking spinnerbaits. Rascals want War Eagle. Cole Slaw I'm muddy to stisned water White and chartreuese for stained water Some type of silver or grey for clear. As for blades, experiement. I once made up one with custom grey shiny blades to match the skirt for ultra clear water. Caught a few but not what I expected. Seems the bait straight out the package is good enough. You can catch a lot of spotted bass in flooded buck brush. If the lake ever reaches above normal pool again.
  14. I honestly don't fish the upper end anymore. When I do, I have to adjust everything deeper by 10ft additional to anything I typically do. They can get shallow (fish) but most I see on graph are much deeper than I'm used to. And for eyes, I'd go up river. Not down.
  15. I think it's how I set up my graph. I also zoomed in on the image on the upper right view window that was on down scan. I was idling at 2.5mph and the Fish were not suspended. They were swimming around slowly. Notice the fish are at different angles in relation to each other. If suspended in a school, they would be more parallel with each other I think. Setting on the graph can make a difference. Color background, contrast, sensitivity, speed, etc.
  16. I would do mid lake. Unless you have a particular reason for going to the dam and seeing 20ft down. :-) I have had more luck mid lake and up river. The Coppermine suggestion is a good one. We need a place like Lileys Landing down here! :-) I'm town (Rogers/Springdale/Lowell) has a plethora of hotel options with access to electric. When FLW is I'm town, the hotels are booked up solid with boats everywhere.
  17. Nice write up. I've been tinkering with it. Just can't stay in it long enough. The tube has been working for me and I like feeling a bait vs soaking it and waiting. I'll have to get past that. Once I locate fish, soak it and wait I guess. What's the Fish Doctor?
  18. Welcome to the forum Savant!!
  19. I release mine straight to a salt and baking soda brine. Then on the grill with blackened seasoning. Salt water flavor. Backyard Ozark fun. Darn tasty fish!
  20. Some of the best pictures I've seen on here in a while. Now..... I AM NEXT!!!! Dagnabit!
  21. If anyone wants more explanation of what they are looking at in these images, let me know. Happy to help. I found a school of paddlefish yesterday. I zoomed in on my upper right downscan view so I could get a better look. This clearly shows the sonar image as a paddlefish. Zoomed out, the images was crisper and easier to see. I zoomed in for accuracy of measurement. This big fella appears to be about a foot tall and probably 5ft long. A downscan view on top and side scan below showing paddlefish images. Two images showing the large paddlers on side scan. And this one..........well this is a first for me. I found the largest school of shad and white bass mix I've ever seen to date. Took up probably 100yards or more. Solid screen blackout.
  22. I got out for a while yesterday. Ran 41.3 miles on 8.5 gallons. Gotta love an Optimax! I could have gotten better mileage but my heavy foot and the hot foot pedal seem to like each other. Rarely got below 4,800rpm so….there’s that. LOL! Thought I’d share some fun images from my outing. No fishing report for me really. I only bagged one fish yesterday. Hardly a report by any means but I was covering a lot of water and only fishing areas very quickly. If fish wouldn’t bite within 30mins, I was trying other areas for more active fish. This crappie was 13.5” when measured flat and both hands. He was very lethargic too. I found several areas with crappie but they did not want to bite. Also saw a few friends on the water as well. I was mainly checking out some of the lake I never fish. Seeing what’s going on, where fish were relating, etc. Lots of boat traffic out yesterday. Saw a deep V and a Gambler in some VERY shallow water areas on plane. I do hope folks are careful. I’d hate to see someone have to pay for lower units and props because they simply did not know about the stumps and channels. My new tin rig is great for shallow but I have found a few stumps (bottom of hull only) with the water being so low. I did manage to find a large school of paddlefish. Got some nice sonar screenshots of them. Also found a MASSIVE school of bait. Love my new HDS units!

  24. Sorry to hear about the bad luck. That is Beaver for sure. I am not the person to be giving advice for bass especially this time of year but it sounds like you did the right thing. In the winter, many will struggle because bass either want a particular reaction bait or very lethargic and very very particular. And most often, there are simply not many fish in a larger area. I refer to this as “fishing unpopulated water”. If you don’t know fish aren’t there, you’re frustrated spent a lot of time/effort fishing when the fish were not there. Having “fancy graphs” is not a mandate to fishing success but they sure cut down the time you spend fishing an area not realizing there are not many fish there. I have found Beaver to be a much smaller lake than it is acreage wise. Finding a productive area and pattern is key. Beaver is tough any day of the week. Add in winter and it’s even tougher. My advice would be to try the Monte Ne area and Horseshoe Bend. There is always a population of bass in these general areas all year long.
  25. Cool pic!! Thanks for sharing. I hope you reach some folks. We should take care of our OAF members. Sorry to hear about you and your sons struggles.
