So I attended the launch this morning from the water and watched the pros leave the no wake zone and launch into the fog. After that, I proceeded to Long Creek but was stopped short at the 86 bridge due to the thick fog. So I fished the little cut on the right and waited for fog to lift. Once lifted, I went I back of Long Creek area.
Water temps were all over the place. Never seen anything like that. Lake is so large, temps can vary as much as 5 degrees within miles!!
I didn't find any bass, crappie or anything else that would bite my wide arsenal of baits. Granted I wasn't fishing like I was fishing for $100k either. I decided to try a crappie spot and as I got to the spot, there are 4 boats with 3 being spectators. KVD is fishing my spot!!! Hey Kevin! Hurry up, there's crappie over there!! Lol!! (I was thinking it, didn't say it).
Mark Zona and James Overstreet were watching KVD so I did too. Bei g a bit star struck as I watch these guys in TV all the time.
He left a d out of respect, I stayed out if the area so it could rest.
I then went into Big Cedar cove for bass . Found some around 20-25ft. No bites. Went back south of Long Creek and passed Rick Clunn, Brandon Palanuik, and 2-3 others. Figured I was on the right track at this point.
Found some fish in middle if cove around 20-23ft. Immediately went to jogging spoon that's been killing them on Beaver. Watched it on my graph and watched fish. Not a single bite!! Dead calm, murkey water, 53 degrees. Should have got a bite. I think it was a group of big crappie based on graph.
.had a super fun day fishing same waters as guys I respect and watch on TV all the time. What a cool experience!!
No fish for me today but going to try it again tomorrow and tomotrrow, I'm getting serious!!!
