When I started fly fishing as a kid back in the 50's, you only used bobbers on a cane pole. The so called indicator was yet to be invented. By the time they came along, I was well into sight fishing. Most indicator fishermen are so in tuned to watching the indicator, that they fail to notice what is actually happening in the water around them. Them little flashes that you see, out of the corner of your eye from time to time, are usually a fish tasting your fly then spitting it back out as the indicator travels on undisturbed. I think that the person who invented the indicator also had a role in the self driving car.

I think most were 8 to 10 inches that they brought to bssp. Not sure if they stocked their own creek below the park. I heard the number was 30 thousand dropped at bennett. Not sure most creeks could handle those numbers.

Water was up level with the spillway lip but a good color. Park was crowded for a Sunday afternoon. Only fished about 4 hours. I was trying out a new hook today to see how it would hold up. It hooked up good, held good, and the point stayed sharp for the first 20 or so fish, maybe 30. I am thinking that maybe tomorrow I will add some fly tying material to it.

Choked on my glass of water when I read the open mouth thing. You gotta ask yourself, why would he cast to a fish "laying " on the bottom? Maybe to" up" his lunker count, or turn it in for the big fish contest ? Or he might have mistaken it for a halibut.

It is confusing. Lakes through out the state seem to have different regs depending on the area. I would have bet against soft plastic being legal if I hadn't looked at the rules.

I thought power worms were scented. Regs call for unscented before christmas.

Since you say that I can kind of see that taking place. I forget you all get a natural spawn whereas you very seldom see a brown on a nest in missouri and especially at taneycomo.

This must be a distinct difference between the true german strain in arkansas and our sheep creek strain in missouri. You put a light on our fish and they run like hell and keep on going. I doubt that they even come back to that area for some time.

I have witnessed the shocking boat, in the big hole, on several occasions. With the vibrations from the generator and lights as bright as a moon landing vehicle, I am amazed that any self respecting fish would get caught up in that commotion.

You may have to ask Seth to verify, but I believe that Rod Caudel's 26lb 13oz record came from just below powersite dam. If they survive there it would be the same as the water from the lower lake.

One controversial rainbow turned out to be a hoax. Don't recall the details.

Thanks to Clint and you Phil for posting this. So it appears that they are working on a triploid rainbow. Go team. Have any been released into the streams and are they identifiable ?

If you look at the record books from other states, it is obvious to me that missouri has the "midget" strain of rainbow trout. We just produced a record brown, so why not continue that success using our strain of rainbow. I think they could quite easily" trip out" the current strain and produce some 25lb rainbows in the next 10 years. Taneycomo would be the ideal proving ground. Plus look at the possibility at having a few in the trout parks.

First met Larry around 1974. He always treated you as a friend and not just a customer. More than willing to help out with any tackle or fly tying problems that you might be having. He will be missed by many. My thoughts and prayers go with his family.
