  1. Hey Wrenchie, I'm gonna invest a ton of money in purple paint. We'll score via the stock market. Wanna criss-cross the country with me and score some land that we don't own? Seems easy.
  2. Settle down Rapster... like I said, see the Meremac incident. You'll have to figure out if your county government supports floaters rights on top of the state and federal do-nothin's. I'm sure you've done that though. A gravel bar IS just a gravel bar, until the high water mark argument presents itself in a bad way. And jeez brother... if tourney anglers ever resorted to that... you're right, our outdoor experiences, or at least the one's I enjoy, would take a serious hit from
  3. I'm so sick of hearing about "landowners" confronting floaters. And I'm sick of the darn gray laws pertaining to the issue. Hoglaw... being a lawyer you seem to have a grasp on the issue (in Arkansas anyway). Nail this redneck. It'd be a perfect world if nice landowners confronted floaters who fish and respect the rivers. Happened to me on Bryant Creek on the Missouri side. BUT... there are too many instances where a screwed up country bumpkin who thinks he owns the gravel bar confronts decent people (Meremac anyone?). And there's also the opposite scenario. Nice landowner confronting a group of people disrespecting the river or creek. Will our state and federal governments ever grow a set? I seriously doubt it. We're on our own so keep floating guys and gals. Those who respect our waterways will most likely get by.
  4. Nice pics GD. That one pic's a chunky SM. Where'd you put in and take out?
  5. Careful Justin... just think, your Ma and Pa could've messed up your birth certificate and added an "e" to your name....

    Shockers!

Yep, Early couldn't miss. Foot in mouth for me startin' this thread. Calipari might have his young guns finally potty trained. NCAA really screwed the Shockers with their bracket. Bittersweet statement for me here but... best team in Kansas this year is WSU. Best team in Missouri is SLU. What's the world coming to?

    Shockers!

And Mizzou beat Arkansas twice. Kentucky (as you know) is lights out when it comes to skill. But youth in the tourney can bite you in the butt. Of course, this game ain't over yet....

    Shockers!

First time seeing them play and they are one heck of a team. Beat Kentucky and their one and done bunch WSU! Legit title contenders IMO...
  9. Drive along any Missouri interstate. You'll see'em around the adult video places...
  10. Yep Wayne... the BB tourney is such a grind-it-out event for these teams and especially for the favorites with all the pressure on them. Grant it in most cases a top team from a top conference wins it in the end by having a mid-major knock off an even bigger favorite that team didn't want to face (for instance the '88 Jayhawks). I'd guess that 80% of the time the team that wins it all would lose to the best team in the country 8 out of 10 times (or so says my old math teacher Yogi Berra).
  11. Just for fun. I pick Wichita State!
  12. If the NIT were a 3 on 3 tournament, we'd have an outside chance. Brown and Clarkson should stay in school and commit to playing defense beyond the arc, but only if Haith is willing and capable of teaching it. I'm so tired of Mizzou players leaving school early and seeing them not make it in the NBA. Heck... even KU has nothing to brag about outside of Paul Pressey. And don't throw in Wilt or Jo Jo KU guys. I'm talking lately.
  13. I'm all about smallmouth but here's to your endeavour takin' hold brother.
  14. Ducky, it was great to see you again down on Taney. With this weather we're gonna get I'd head up Flat Creek or the James further than ya think you need to go for some early crappie. I used to fish the creeks coming into Truman years ago and got surprised many times catching early spawners. But you know the deal bro. Have fun in AK.

    Baseball!

National League Sucks! Royals are gonna surprise some people (Hopefully me!). But... I gotta give kudos to the Cards. Second most World Series Championships behind the friggin' Yankees. And we have NO complex here in the western part of the state. We laugh at St. Louis trying to be like Chicago. Not our style over here. We're who we are and rule St. Louis in many sports categories. Bring it...
  16. The junk that grows on some people's "bare" feet could probably do worse than felt soles.
  17. Do a fly-in somewhere. Just once... you'll be hooked. Screw paddlin' and portaging. Plenty of good deals out there. PM me for my favorite, but if you're interested better hurry.
  18. Leave it to ol' J. Rapp to bring politics up again... and Direct TV always goes out during a storm.
  19. The NWS started this in the last couple of years. What a joke. Whatever happened to the old days when they or us had no idea how much snow, sleet, or freezing rain we had coming? We persevered, that's what. Polar vortex hurricanes... jeez...
  20. Mike... they will be everywhere along the Jacks Fork if you drink enough of Andy's moonshine ealy June.
  21. Good question... I pulled the truck into one of those Amish cheerleader car washes one saturday and somehow managed to leave with a somewhat empty feeling.
  22. Heck, we're (Mizzou) not even the best team in the state. But alas! Neither is Kansas (Wichita State).
  23. That's a ridiculous price Mark. To be honest, I always thought there wasn't a charge at all for the teachers. I should've known better because, as Al stated, the place has always looked empty when I've floated by it. Here's a dumb question... why doesn't the state give SOMETHING back to the people who educate our kids for the love of doing so despite what the pay is? Hope you get to go down with the family someday. It's a beautiful place with a fantastic bluff on the other side of the river. Great swimming stretch too.
  24. I respect guys like you Alex. But I've been checked on both rivers including the upper JF more than once. Agents hiding in the brush along gravel bars and waving you over. Pay the agents salary and hide him in the brush, guess that's cheaper than putting boats on the riverways runnin' down the hellraisers.
  25. Andy and JoAnne... 54K for a 3 acre lot correct? And are the 11 other lots the same size or comparable? Is there a requirement for other buyers to leave the barrier you left? How many lots have been sold if any and has anyone started building yet?
