  1. Justin, I've been on the North Fork many times, but it's been awhile since my last time. Stayed at Sunburst once back in 1978. What a weekend that was. Used Twin Bridges folks most of the time back then. Floated the upper river for smallmouth. Hale's and Hebron put-in's I used the most. Were you around there in '78 ? I'd bet Sunburst is nothing like it was back then!
  2. Lake guys I see... forget my response then.
  3. Good luck to you and your wife Tim! Hope you are supported well down there! KC
  4. Didn't take a pic of me and my buddy cleaning a turkey in a motel room in Osceola. They even had a note posted to not clean fish or game in the room. Oh well... took care of the mess. Like Wrench said, why did we do that?
  5. OTF... free flowing streams right? No tailwater fisheries to be included... I'm guessing the Current, Eleven Point , and North Fork guys will all have their say. This could be interesting! KC
  6. Them young fellas look so happy SWMO... wonderful pics! Nice fish too... KC
  7. I'll bring some shredded cheese too. What time we eating? I've gotta leave by ABOUT 1:00... Seriously!
  8. Happened at Stockton. Like I said, kinda like what Hoglaw went through. Motoring down the middle of the lake early morning... and the thunder roared, but the lightning hadn't flashed... YET. Sucked it up (literally) and headed to the nearest bank. Beached my old john boat while the wife and my buddy laughed at me while I duck-walked into the timber. In the midst of my ecstacy, I heard a little kid's voice going... "Eeewww look at that guy". I'd parked my butt next to a playground at a campground! Never even saw it and the leaves hadn't come out yet, it was early spring. I continue checking, but as for now I'm not on the state troopers website...

    Thanksgiving

Skip the turkey, unless you're a traditionalist. Great sirloins with various toppings. Just kidding though Terry.... munch on to whatever pleases ya!
  10. Well bud... you know what he's given you. Good luck to you two and I hope your relationship with your in-laws are as special as mine! KC
  11. Should have read the post better... Arkansas Game and Fish reported this? Where's they're source?
  12. Where did you see the Missouri warning on this Terry? I've ate them cooked, wouldn't think of eating them raw unless I was lost in a bayou or something.
  13. Hoglaw... that was hilarious! Mine is similar to yours, tell it later on here... gotta go!
  14. Chief mentioned earlier in the thread that he's got a grate. Don't know about a pot though... KC
  15. I'll be there... crackers and hot sauce be o.k.?

    Thanksgiving

Got two dinners to attend. One on the traditional thursday with the usual good stuff. The other with the in-laws on saturday down in Cassville. Looking forward to the Cassville meal myself... consisting of fried Jayhawk (2:30 PM starting time for them to be COOKED!) GO MIZZOU...
  17. Jeez... we're playing "The Price is Right". I'm gonna say 7lbs. 10oz.'s
  18. Are you a lake fisherman primarily? I myself love the Chomper stand-up jighead in 1/8th and 1/4th for river fishing. KC
  19. Coolers I buy have rulers on the top. If I'm too far from the canoe and the fish seems worn out I don't take the time to walk back... just admire it and release. Missed some camera shots in the past too. Like the idea of marking your rod. I'm gonna do that on all my rods! KC
  20. In the end (no pun intended... ), "Bambi" was forever haunted by his given' name...
  21. Beautiful fish jay bird! Booked a trip in late October down there and we had the worst luck. Gonna do it again this spring after learning a few things. Caught just one, barely over 10 lbs's.
  22. Sorry you got skunked, but seems you're like most river guys on here... catching fish is just iceing on the cake. Wife and I did the same float back in late July. River was up, lots of color to it. I caught nine with the biggest at 15". The others were all above 12". I'm more comfortable with soft plastics (Chomper stuff... Spider Craw, Skirted Grub, etc.), but they weren't working in that type of water. Shortly after we started, switched to a craw- colored Wiggle-O. Had a blast after that! But... have had many days like you had as far as boating fish. Plus I've got to travel a ways to get there. Still... I cherish every trip to any river in the Mo./Ark. Ozarks, whether I catch fish or not. Be fun to hook up with ZHOYT on Crooked Creek sometime. I've always wanted to fish that. Enjoyed the old Jerry McGuiness (spelling probably wrong) Fishin' Hole shows when he fished it in the old days. KC
  23. Make'em dance like the bad guys did in "Pale Rider" OTF! Seriously... maybe we're differnt personalities, but... I'd be telling them their ethics ain't right. Happened to me turkey hunting down around Pomme. I politley described the situation to them. They acknowledged and split.
  24. Well, I'm proud of the way this team fights! A bunch of no-names beats the defending Super Bowl champs. Maybe there's hope for the future. Only got beat bad once this year, against San Diego. Of course we play them in their house next week. We'll see if this carries over. For once, Kansas City Chiefs fans are ecstatic! Been a while... KC
  25. I'd like to see someone post something proving turkey eat small quail or their eggs. Whether it be on a regular or infrequent basis. We all know, I hope, that turkeys don't eat adult quail. LOL! Destruction of their habitat from clear-cutting farm practices, from it be leaving no native grasses along fencerows, to farming to the edges of hard timber, to not row-cropping, have led to the decline in our upland game bird populations. Quail and Pheasant. Easy meals for coyotes, coons, raptors, foxes, snakes, rats, etc. Is CRP helping? It's got to be... right? Maybe we should start a "Turkey eatin' Quail thread" ! Probably happened already... if so, hope everyone was good!
