  1. My son called me last Saturday as I was on my way to Stockton Lake to make check out an area of deer woods we are going to hunt.He was fishing around outlet 1 and had just caught his first fish on a fly rod. A 6 or 7 pound brown. A man fishing close to him asked if he had a camara and my son said no. This guy had a camara and took his pic got his name and adress and told him he would mail it to him after he got it developed. Whoever the gentleman is I want to say thanks. Not many people would take the time or trouble to do this. Guess he had a good day catching several big browns and bows. Again thank you whoever you are!
  2. The only place I have ever had a problem with slippery rocks is around the cable area. Guess I have been lucky, but I get along just fine without felt.
  3. My mistake, I am not too International. lol
  4. Thats one big blue!!
  5. Is it possiable that the 6 inch fish are a result of a natural hatch in the lake? I would like to think so, but not sure.

    Tuesday

Just got back a day of fishing. Ripped the white bass in the CC area. Several nice black also in same areas. Fished wind blown flat banks , not mud banks, found them in areas that had a little rock on the banks. Great day on the water! Most were caugth on small rattle traps.
  7. Got a late start sunday morning. Went to my never fail dock in about 28-30 ft. Just caught 1, 12 incher. Came out of Indian and fished a smallpea gravel point in the horseshoe bend area. 45 - 50 ft. caught 3 nice 2/12 - 3 lb. spots there on a 4 inch zoom worm. Also had 3 hit my buzz bait in the same water but were hitting short. That was it for the day.Fished untill 3:00. The three nice spots were caught around noon.
  8. Used to be a bait store in Stoneridge 10 years or so that made a spinnerbait called Wally Gaubers. (don;t know if I spelled it right) Are they still around? They had a heavy powder coat on them and a vibration like I had never seen before. They also caught fish! Any help???
  9. I remember back in 1989 I fished and won the BASS federation on the Rock the end of sept. Sounds like conditons are the same as then. Pre fishing was tough and during the tournament tougher. I ended up fishing in the back of Indian creek doing a Paul Ellias thing, kneel and reel with a Manns 20 plus.Fished in about 15-35 ft of water banging into trees all day long. 3 fish the first day and 2 the next. Couldnt believe that was enough to win but it did. Around 12 pounds for 2 days. I dont think I could throw that man killer all day anymore, lol. Had even hired a guide during prefish and he had to resort to night crawler to catch some fish, but ended up fishing my spots as I had more confidence in them. I would think they would have these events later in Oct. when you can catch some fish. The rock does this every year at this time. I am working with a customer now who lives in Idaho and his fishing buddies are Dave Dean and Stacy King. Small world!
  10. In this heat, I think I am going back to wet wading, geeez its hot!
  11. shhhhhhhhhh. Give me a dock anyday this time of year, day or night.
  12. I think it is mostly new people that do it. Once the excitement of having all those fish at your feet wears off, wheres the fun or sport in it. Its kinda like masterbation, we all have done it to see if it works but nobody admits to it. I spoke to two guys aroud 3 weeks ago doing it around no. 1. I asked if they thought that was fun, cause I didn't get any excitement out of it. The one guy said not really, but wanted to see if it worked. They then started fishing. Most people if spoken to in a polite way will respond in kind.
  13. Like it or not the hispanic community will only continue to grow. I guess I would appreciate someone telling me I was in the wrong rather than a game warden telling me. Just tell em mucho denaro if they get caught! LOL. But on the other side of the coin ignorance is no excuse in the eyes of the law. In my youth I spent the night in Jail in Juarez Mexico. Seems you can't walk around on the side walk after you have been drinking, (I only had 3 beers). I passed by 2 policemen and they asked me if I had been drinking, they saw me come out of a cantina. I told them yes and they said come with us. I learned my lesson even if I didn't speak the language!
  14. Fishing is my passion. I am not species specific, I have dipped smelt in lake Superior to catching big ole redfish in the Gulf of Mexico, ( yes out of my bass boat)lol. Whether or not I catch a bunch or just a few makes no differance. Boating, wading, sitting on the banks , its all good. I used to tournament fish and did in 1989 win the Bass federation state championship on Table Rock. But it got to be no fun anymore so I gave it up. I have two sons that share my passion, and nothing feels better to a Father than watching a son wade a creek in along side of you outfishing ole Dad. What a wonderful sport we have. Guess what I am trying to say is,that we are all very lucky to be able to enjoy this sport, protect it and cherise it. We all take it for granted that we can go out whenever we like, and we can! God Bless America! And God Bless fishing!
  15. When Phil mentioned buget overun on the landing, it jogged my memory. We went down there about a week after opening, and I heard a trolley car driver talking to an enployee about needing gas for the trolley as he was about out. He was told to go park it as gas card they used was maxed out. Didn't really think to much of it until now, but maybe they are in trouble.
  16. As far as small buisness goes, I belive BP will in the long run help the mom and pop stores. As a small buisness owner myself we had an Ethan Alan store open up 4 bocks from us, and a Hanks 2 blocks. We sell furniture also. After the honeymoon was over our buisnes picked up like crazy. Customers were looking for somthing differant and the low pressure that a Mom and Pop provides. They more they advertised the buisier we got. I would suppose in the fishing buisness a little where and when is worth a ton of buisness, that you won't get at the Bp's. Good luck , bet it works out well!
  17. There is always some idiots anywhere you go. Guess I am ignorant as I dont know what shuffling is. Kicking up the bottom? Saw 2 guys this afternoon fishing way up past the cables, they didnt catch anything that I saw, but sure was hoping the man would stroll down that way.
  18. Ripped em this afternoon between outlet 1 and 2. 8 or so fsherman down there, nobody catching fish. Threw micro's for awhile, had a few chasers but no fish. switched to a super duper and they went nuts. Started gathering a crowd, guess they thought I was cheating. Caught 20 25 fish 10 -15 inch. Had a ball. Even had one pick it up off the bottom as I was pulling out a loop on my spinning reel.
  19. My neighbor told me. One hot day I jumped in to cool off and tested it. Works slick.
  20. Any good cat holes in the Indians? Will be staying at the back end of North little Indian. I have also heard that it was good under the bridge at Kimberling city?
  21. Heres a neat trick if you ever fall out of the boat. Swim to the motor and put your feet on the flat part above the prop. Hug the motor and reach to the tilt button and raise motor. When up all the way you can slide back into the boat. Many motors have the tilt button on the side of the motor, so it is easy to reach. Ever try to get back into a bass boat? Its tough!

  23. I use 6 lb Trilene xt or the xL.
  24. Love the cam! Has anybody noticed the humped back and crooked tailed trout? I see him often. My grandson tells me thats where we ought to fish. lol
  25. I always point my boat into the wind and run trolling motor when needed. Works best for me especially when fishing structure, timber logs ect. Part of it is it makes me slow down and fish. I am the worlds worst at fishing too fast.
