  1. I was gonna go out for a few hours after church today, but with the wind howling like it is, I think I will work on some things around the house.
  2. I make a round head version with Mustad hooks. They are for sale at Jug-N-Plug in Shell Knob. They come in black or brown.
  3. Try giving Cedarwood resort a call to find out if they have what you need. We stayed there several years ago. They have a dock and launch ramp.
  4. I wish these reporters would do their homework. The ramp at the Shell Knob bridge is a public ramp that is maintained by Hill and Hill Maintenance and Excavation. The Corps has nothing to do with this ramp. As far as I know it has always been open to the public.
  5. Thanks
  6. Does anyone know the entry fee for the midweek tournament at Cape Fair? Thanks Dennis
  7. I have a 2003 101 Maxxum for sale as I just upgraded to a Fortrex. $200 or best offer. 417-559-1273. Dennis
  8. I am curious as to what size drop shot weights to use. What is the general consensus?
  9. Just wanted to wish everyone a happy New Years. I hope that the new year bring good luck to eveyone that fishes the Rock.
  10. I have used this new bait twice now and have been throwing it where everyone else has been catching them or have reported to have caught them. My frustration is this. I cannot catch a cold with this thing. I also seem to get the rig tangled up quite a bit. Today I threw it on points, bluff ends, and bluff walls. I fished it shallow and deep. I let it fall for several seconds to just a few seconds and still nothing. I just don't don't see what all of the hype is about.
  11. One of my neighbors went to a Corps meeting yesterday. I think that the Corps had suggested that they cancel them for 14 days. I did see a report on the BASS site stating that the Water Patrol had canceled all tourneys unti at least Sunday May 1st.
  12. ust looked at the MODOT site and there is nothing about the bridge or hwy 13 being closed.
  13. The corps office has canceled all fishing tournaments for the next 14 days. They have also closed all of the corps parks and ramps to keep boaters off of the lake. However, I did see a couple of boats on the water here in Shell Knob. Why these guys wanna go out in this is beyond me. Do they not realize the danger that lurks just below the surface with all of the debris coming down river?
  14. It is guys like this that have turned me off to tournament fishing. There have been rumors about someone catching caged fish in the Shell Knob Wednesday nights this year. No proof yet, but it still makes you sick.
  15. Jug-N_Plug in Shell Knob caries them also.
  16. Motoman, I feel your pain also as I used to get the same treatment when I had a 16' Tracker. I too have a great deal of respect for those that fish the less expensive rigs as the water belongs to everyone not just those of us with the big glass rigs. If you ever make it down near Shell Knob, look for a 20' Triton (white with a green stripe) stop by and say hello. Or drop into Lakeside and get a cup of coffee or just to say hello. I work there Monday and Friday evenings, and I open once in a while on Sunday's.
  17. I did not get out today. But I noticed there was some color to the water at the bridge after the rain we had on Saturday. The color was not real bad, just stained and murky from what I could see.
  18. It's about the size of a poster.
  19. We carry the laminated wall map at Lakeside which is just south of the bridge in Shell Knob.
  20. Just south of the bridge on highway 39 is King's Harbor resort. I know in the past I have recommended them to guys need to stay for just one night. You might want to give them a call. (417)858-6171
  21. If you are from around Shell Knob I would suggest that you go to Hill Country Tire in Viola and talk to Steve. He runs the tire shop out of his house right before the turn in Viola as you go south on 39.
  22. Looking at bluff banks that have small 45 degree banks, there would be a mix of dirt and chunk rock and possibly some trees that have fallen form the bluff above and have slid down the bank either into or near the water.
  23. Another thing to look for along bluffs is for quick changes to a 45 degree bank with what looks like a landslide. These kinds of banks paid off for us yesterday in our tournament.
  24. Your first question is the correct answer in this situation.
  25. I just look for transition banks that are above water. Whatever you see above water, continues the same under the water.
