  1. Do you have a rod witht the flexibiltiy of a broomstick to throw those? All in All it was at trip down memory lane on how the pothole can be so greedy at times yet so generous on others. Now that I look back I wouldn't give a nickel to go back on another "Stiper" trip. Next time i'll throw sliders and catch whites near the bank.
  2. Fished the pothole with a buddy. We had a great evening. No fish, No Bites, and no boat problems. We threw what we thought were big swimbaits..........until we noticed what the rest of the guys were throwing. It looked like most people were throwing a rubber chicken style bait. I've caught fish that i was proud of that were smaller tha n the baits that most were throwing. I'm sure there are a lot of fish up there right now. You can fish warm water or cold water or a mix of both. Feast of Famine at the ol' PotHole.
  3. Great Report. All of these 14" fish are those from the floods of 08. We are looking at a bunch of keepers in the next couple of years. I was in your marina the other day....you all have one the of the best selections of tackle I I've seen in a while.
  4. While workin in the campgrounds today, I spoke with several people who came to Table Rock due to the algae advisory on Grand Lake. According to some of the Oklahoma locals, this is very common, it just happended to take place durring the holiday weekend. It is usually later in August. According to one guy, it should only last for a week or two.
  5. I'll have to go with a 10" worm on a steep bank up one of the river arms after dark. There is nothing like feeling the tap reeling up the slack and laying into a rod bender. A full moon makes it a little better, especially if it jumps and you can get a good look at it.
  6. There is a nice one on craigslist today under Springfield/Boats. It was posted at 5:53PM. Im looking for a 25 HP johnson or evinrude and a nice flat bottom aprox 16'. If you find one let me know.
  7. The title of the post is "Killin' Smallies on Jigs" not Jugs. Don't you know you can't catch a trout on a Jug? Get back to Taney Leave those poor catfish alone!
  8. Fished Cops for Kids tourney today and partner caught at 20 incher on a DD22 shad Color. I also talked to a buddy who had caught a really nice one on a shaky head. Ours was within sight of the mill creek ramp. Ended up with 12.5 lbs on the bass. Couldn't get the good ones to the the boat.
  9. I have tried all of my old haunts that I usually catch them and haven't even had a nibble. Last year it seemed like they were stacked in gravel pockets in the 15-20' range. I have tried them the last couple of weeks with crickets and yet to catch one in these areas. I have a feeling they will be bedding up in the junk this year. It is still a little bit earlier than I was catching them last year. Keep us posted if you get into any. Its pretty sad when you can catch more keeper smallies than bluegill
  10. I heard that it was 22 lbs fist place, 17 for second and 14 for 3rd.
  11. They are being caught very well in all of the river arms. In the main lake From the Dam to Campbell Point, there are several being caught around docks as well. We are having one of those years, much like back in 2005.
  12. The BFL Guys must have been missing the boat, me included. 16LBS won and it fell off after that. Not a lot of fish brought in. IT was the shortest weigh in line that I can ever rember.
  13. Rounded off secondary points that had some chop on them. I really wish we could have got an earlier start in the day, I think it would have been a really good day. We caught fish anywhere from the 5-15' range, pretty shallow.
  14. Donna, I really appreciate you not mentioning any names. I'll admit. It was me. I forgot that I was on the taney a week ago and the bunks of my trailer were frozen solid. Fortunately very little damage was incurred. We ended up having a solid day of fishing. 4 keeps in 3 hrs. One went 5lbs. All on a grub. 3 were on swiming a grub and one was on jiggin a grub. None the less, indian point ramp is in great shape exept for the fact there is a little bit of my fiberglass on it and some of my skag.
  15. Those are probably worth some money. Especially the ones Signed by Phil Lilley.
  16. TP, There is nothing i'd rather do tomorrow than donate my money to you. I ask that you do me a favor and take Mike F's money. I will be wrapping up my finals and research paper for my master's degree, so think of me while you are ripping their lips off. This is a great group of guys. I talked my boss into fishing it. He will be in a gray ranger with a Yamaha.
  17. Every reel I replace, it is replaced with a Pro Qualifier. These are an awesome reel. I Like them better than my Curado's. Also, there are times when you can catch them online for $69.00----$89.00.
  18. Bill, I can't speak on behalf of the dept but I think they are sinking stucture on behalf of the fish and not the fishermen. Regardless if you can get a jig through it or not, its probably not their concern. Creating fish habitat is probably their top priority. I have spoke with the guys and I know for a fact that Smallmouth, along with LM and Spots are all utilizing the habitat that they are placing. It makes sense to me that the habit they are restoring is making up for the hardowoods and cedars that are slowing going away. The year class of 08 for LM bass has reached nearly the 14" mark and this habitat will be a good thing in the future. I would assume that adding structure would only help a fishery and not hurt it so why should we complain.
  19. Topwater bite is excellent on the main lake. Look for steep banks that have timber lay downs or standing timber close to the shore. We had 19.25lbs on Monday. Keep in mind, it was the first cloudy day we have had in about 3 weeks. 11 keepers, all on top except 1 on a jig late in the day when the sun came out for a while. Spooks and buzzbaits were the ticket. Didn't try anything else, it probably would have worked as well.
  20. 15 LB Seagar Carbon Pro. This is my favorite Line. You can't break it.
  21. I think that the 10-12"ers that folks are talking about are red ears. I didn't think that we had them in TR but I saw a huge one on a stringer at Eagle Rock Park this weekend. I had also been getting a lot of reports from an old man who fishes off of the bank at Big M. He swore to me that he catches quite a few 1 lb red ears. I honestly wouldn't have believed it until I saw it. I spoke with Mike and Shane with the MDC and they have seen red ear durring some of their shocking trips. None the less, I am having almost as much fun chasing the gills this year as I am the bass. A great change of pace.
  22. Went this evening and my wife and I targeted gills. Fishing was great. 15'-20' range. They were full of color. Fished the same spots phil had mentioned a couple of weeks ago. They are still there. Gravel pockets, the key was to sit in about 25' and throw down the middle of the "Gut" We could have caught a ton but i got tired of rigging crickets, and my wife wanted to get back to her book. Ended the eveing catching 3 really nice smallies on a football jig, wife got to reel those in as well. Ended up cleaning 21 gills, all were loaded with Japanese beetles, i'm glad something is eating these beetles.
  23. This is the case every year. The bass are biting a few different reasons. The water temp is mid 60's to possibly even 70. The metabolism has increased because of water temp. Bass are not only biting our baits to eat, they are biting our baits to move off a bed or keep it from going into a bed out of instinct. After the spawn, they will be biting to eat.
  24. What if we run into imposters....we then need to have a secret handshake to make it official
  25. When you say "We" caught our limits does that mean that Vince=24 Whites, Phil=6. Either way you look at it, Vince is pretty handy when you have him in the boat on a white bass trip.
