That was powerful stuff.... Elliott, the one who used the iPad for his voice, was the most inspirational to me. Sure was great to see the guy who put it all together get emotional about his first trout also. You can watch the entire full length video from the second link in my first post. (the pbs.org one)

I never link music - but if you listen to these guys... these Michigan guys whose band is named 'Troll for Trout', you will understand how it is infectious. This song just kills it. With talks of rods and waders.. duns and daces... "its kinda nice to fish in fleece". These guys really fly fish. " One thing that I try to understand and figure out, is why we get so excited by a six inch rainbow trout. " https://myspace.com/trollfortrout/music/song/river-song-70830718-77976162

The PBS special about injured veterans returning home and picking up a fly rod airs tonight. OPT will air it tonight at 6PM CST. ( click here to find time : http://www.optv.org/schedules/ ) I for one cannot wait to see this inspiring documentary. Full length video : http://www.pbs.org/program/not-yet-begun-fight/ http://video.pbs.org/video/2365099285/ Trailer video - http://worldchannel.org/programs/episode/not-yet-begun-fight/ (there is a video on youtube - i cannot get it to start from 0:01 to post it) Guide Collin Brown shows Navy SEAL Elliott Miller (ret.) how to place the line in the documentary 'Not Yet Begun to Fight.' The film follows five wounded veterans during a week-long fishing trip with Bozeman-based Warriors & Quite Waters. / Photo by Justin Lubke Marine Captain and helicopter pilot Blake Smith smiles as he congratulates a fellow veteran on a big catch. Guide Dave Corcoran steers the boat. Photo Credit: Justin Lubke Witness the journey of five men, hurt in Iraq and Afghanistan, to Montana and toward recovery. "Not Yet Begun to Fight" focuses on five warriors who join retired Marine Colonel Eric Hastings for a week of fly-fishing in Montana through the Warriors and Quiet Waters Foundation. Hastings, who flew missions “high above the death and destruction” in Vietnam, returned home to Montana in 1969 battling dark dreams. His solace was fly-fishing. Montana-based directors Sabrina Lee and Shasta Grenier shadow Colonel Hastings as he reaches out to a new generation of traumatized combat veterans returning home from Iraq and Afghanistan. Through the Warriors and Quiet Waters Foundation, he leads five remarkable, intense and vulnerable young men (three marines, a soldier and a Navy SEAL) to the quiet waters of Montana. His mission is to help them find their way through the space between the war they have just left behind and the new battles they face. "Not Yet Begun to Fight", will air on PBS on November 9 at 7pm, and nationwide on PBS’ World Channel at various times November 11, 12, 16 and 17. ( I had a bunch of pics.. but they wouldn't work. )

A Summer's Worth Of Rain Falls In One Week In Missouri

More down in the town of Hollister.. across from the Post Office is Turkey Creek. It is the one that flooded hard. Any low lying areas were really affected. The Waste Water Treatment plant has R/R tracks that you have to cross to get to it.. the tracks were floating... in mid air... nothing underneath. -

Brian K. Shaffer replied to Brian K. Shaffer's topic in Roaring River State Park
Pictures from KY3's webpage... a bunch of them too. http://www.ky3.com/galleries/kspr-pictures-flooding-along-the-roaring-river-in-cassville-20130808,0,5234372.photogallery -
This is from KY3.com's webpage : " Roaring River State Park officials report people who were camping at the park were warned and the park was evacuated before major flooding occurred this morning. The park is flooded with roughly 9 feet of water in places. Several other campgrounds in the area have also ordered evacuations. "

Now they are saying they are going to open the gates " a little... ". http://www.ky3.com/news/ky3-table-rock-lake-rises-more-than-15-feet-since-midnight-20130808,0,1232225.story By the way - the town of Hollister below Branson got crushed with almost 12 feet of water. That town is really badly damaged. Many homes and numerous business affected. A spot where I fish in the winter for trout in Turkey Creek looks like it came up near to 15 feet. Washed out the railroad tracks badly near the Water Treatment Plant. Very sad.

A Summer's Worth Of Rain Falls In One Week In Missouri
Brian K. Shaffer replied to a topic in General Angling Discussion
I just drove over to Hollister. That town is demolished. Many businesses just totally ruined... they really got nailed... the amount of water is unfathomable. I totally believe the amount of water after seeing it firsthand... looks like the creek did rise somewhere near 15 feet. -
Yesterdays Branson paper had an article that said T/R Dam operations director Greg Ollier thought the lake was going to hold the water without much worry. What a difference a day makes. 24 little hours.

Hollister, MO south of Branson got over 8 inches in one hour. The College of the Ozarks airport collected 9 inches in 2 hours. They say Turkey Creek rose almost 12 feet. Mobile homes swept away... 200 people evacuated. http://www.ky3.com/news/ky3-flash-flood-emergency-in-effect-for-hollister-area-20130808,0,2529387.story -

T R Dam Had A Lightning Strike, Phone # Down
Brian K. Shaffer posted a topic in Upper Lake Taneycomo
The operator didn't know the "decktalk" or Taney/Beaver generation information phone number was down until I just called in and told them. The guy was really friendly about it - but he did say, "We work here, so we never have a need to call that number. We just look outside." He said the structure was hit by more than one lightning strike with the last batch of strong storms that moved thru. In addition to the phone line being down, their own card readers to let them in the parking lot and into the building were compromised. He said it really has made things difficult since Friday. "The fix could actually be handled remotely by CenturyTel or Suddenlink...", James also said. "But more than likely the strikes blew out some capacitors or surge regulators and they will have to come out and fix it all back up." At least its covered under their monthly additional protection fees they pay.. uhh.. wait .. I mean WE pay. If you do not know the number - it is (417) 336-5083. They had it upgraded to where it now gives you the cubic feet per second (CFS) the river is actually flowing in real time. (No projected loading schedule on this number by the way... just current real time info for Taney/Beaver generation.) Phil has the SPA Projected Generation Schedule in a link next to Lake Levels and Quick Links above. Just choose the day you wish to know about, confirm your date is correct and not last week, and look for # 12 which is TRD. Extra Credit Fun Reading Material to brush up your skills - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lightning "Objects struck by lightning experience heat and magnetic forces of great magnitude. The heat created by lightning currents traveling through a tree may vaporize its sap, causing a steam explosion that bursts the trunk," Phil and I experienced this on the Pere Marquette River in Baldwin, Michigan. Lightning blew up a tree right next to us while we were fishing on the river. We had thunder-snow that same day. -
http://thelimpcobra.com/2012/12/08/why-you-should-always-wear-glasses-and-only-use-barbless-hooks/ Be advised.. this is gonna get weird. It's gonna be a little gross.. even puke inducing for some. THE lesson .. always wear eyewear around hooks. Get your kids some sunglasses. Get yourself some sunglasses. Give your neighbor who fishes sometimes.. some sunglasses. Click the link above ... but be prepared : (squeamish need not click the link)

I just remembered, I got run off from one of my hi-highfalutin golf course ponds in Houston TX (RavCC) growing up... we used to get shot at by Marshals flinging rock salt at us, from little potato guns! This was 1987-89.. we used to sneak onto that *well stocked* catfish course to catch dinner.. no lie. I wasnt sport fishing - I was meat eating for cats .. our parents used to ask us to do it. and I remember sneaking my friends car out at 1am to go buy chicken livers... and we got stopped by the cops.. and he let us go.. cause he knew we were just dumb kids sneaking out his dads car to go cat fishing..

cpriest - NICE! Your spot look awesome too... very fishy.. err.. bassy. (BTW, its never a threat to hijack a thread in my opinion when you include the same content) - Tell the others where that is .. uhh.. privately so you can protect your spot from non-ozarkanglers forum members. Forsythian - if you guess it right.. I will tell you. You wanna go sometime ? Thanks for all of you pitching in on the idea of " golf course bassin' " -- but do be logical about it. No one in handcuffs off my suggestion, please. Here a few new pics from the same place this past Sun morning : Most of mine are all dinks ! more fun though, on a limp 8ft 6in 6wt (i got one bass 4 inches long )
