  1. You need to figure out the correct placement of the hooks ---- for goodness sakes. The jaws have two grooves. AND the tip has a smooth flat surface. I will be a little disappointed if you really sent the vice back.
  2. Sam - I think you are doing everything right... maybe you should look into the river more... with your polarized glasses... find the feeding lies / and lanes. Also - the scuds in Taney can be huge... so I suggest a scud then the midge dropper rig, and you have to vary the length from your indicator depending on the current and water level.
  3. i am calling it now - again - same result - "all circuits are busy " calling back inside again....got the wrong guy this time.. he said - "we'll take a look at it.. have a good night" and hung up in my ear...
  4. Once you have your share of fish limited by your license agreement - isn't that it ? I have no idea...
  5. Nick - how did you guys do ? how did the guide trip go.. and how was the wade fishing on your own ?
  6. LOW ... it is really low at low water.. did they remove them.. ?? phil ?
  7. Are you guys throwin' them in Taney with the rubber bits attached ?
  8. The actual link to choose which APP - http://usacelittlerock.conduitapps.com/#
  9. the correct link is posted - in the Automated Phone msg thread
  10. i just called and its still down for me, and my prefix of 417-595- so i am on hold right now to the inside - and its still down for me --- BUT --- I did get some news about a Google App and Iphone app - USACE little rock - apparently that's real time info fed
  11. Still says " All circuits busy. " I might call in later tonight and see whats up with the decktalk (that's what they call the phone number and system).
  12. dude you gotta show us a pic somehow...............
  13. sold - deleted
  14. Gorgeous fish..... wow... nice job! and here I was just gonna post about how the river looks kinda dead from looking above and not fishing the water itself - I have been walking the river the last 2 weeks .. but the re-bar, or below the rebar hole is obviously always going to be good... -8 lbs ? edit - on a second look - I know right where that fish laid up.... but still - good on ya Jeff (hey Jeff, if you read this, give me ring.. we need to talk again)
  15. wow... I never insulted your traditions, Im sorry if you felt like I did, if it sounded like it I didn't mean to. I just thought it was strange how many people go out on opener to fish. I didn't know it was tradition. I just didn't get all the hype.
  16. So how did it change the rod ?? cast it and let us know... I bet not much.. but a little noticeable...
  17. I would buy 6 to maybe 8 different rods for the price of one of the Helios rods. glass and graphite both. I have an arm that can hold a fly rod.. probably 3 or even more at one time..wow..magic? no.. Whether it weighs 3 ounces or 6 ounces.. for hours on end, my arm can hold on to it... So can all of us. (most of us all really) Do not believe the marketing hype! (unless you can totally afford it.. then by all means.. blow it!) For the price of one Orvis Helios2 rod I could buy line weights 3-7. 4 rods.. and 2 backups... and reels and line.
  18. Its all about the shoulders on that fish if you ask me.. Sorry, but I have to show my fish for the shoulder significance of Eric's fish :
  19. Congrats to Eric... what a fish... nice to see it happen to such a cool friend too! I caught one real similar to that looking fish down in Arkansas 10 years ago. (it never got weighed, but I guessed it at 12 or so) I am saving up for a Boga now.
  20. You can buy offset bend hooks ... no sense in de-tempering the hook if you ask me. Just one lost really big fish will teach you.... believe me. Good link for some quality info on smaller'ish hooks : http://books.google.com/books?id=WxpvoYxhMXUC&pg=PA11&lpg=PA11&dq=tiemco+offset+bend&source=bl&ots=Wu-WH7IfHR&sig=hNPaJpy1itUNXKaI5qjbv3-0b3A&hl=en&sa=X&ei=IQ0UUYmlH8nf0QHd4oG4Ag&sqi=2&ved=0CEwQ6AEwBA#v=onepage&q=tiemco%20offset%20bend&f=false
  21. now the hooks went up to $3.24 a pack... ho hum.. but they added TMC 3761-SPBL's to the 3769's. (still better than $8 at the fly shop)
  22. - black out gate - The momentum totally switched during that delay... but that one pass not caught by Jones was the end-all to the game. Good game over all.. at least it did not turn out like it started (score at halftime).
  23. I like this hook.. Phil has them at the shop too. Good price as well. (I'm gonna smash that barb down though) Same principal as the Marinaro hook.. short shank, super strong.
  24. rut - I had the right hook once.. actually I tied up 25 of them.. but whenn I ran out... I couldn't find them anymore. It was a Partridge - well this one : http://greatfeathers.com/hooks/partridge/vince-marinaro-midge-fly-hooks-by-partridge.aspx I know this say they have them.. but if you call em to order.. it aint happening! not in the size I had them in
  25. I always feel like the hook itself is preventing me from the actual hookup - the connection to fly and trout. Many times I have been fishing faster water and had many short strikes.. thinking I was doing something wrong with these soft hackles....actually... I was doing everything right - just using the wrong hook for the bite.
