  1. Yeah I saw that lone boomerang. I talked to someone that caught a spot on a spoon 65 feet deep a couple of days ago.
  2. Did you see any bass around those shad?
  3. Thanks Dan, and I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving!
  4. Went out yesterday myself, caught 10 on the Ned. 2 bluffs with timber held some fish, most other places nothing.

I'd like to see some sort of leveling mechanism in the NCAA, certainly for football. In the NFL teams have to operate under a salary cap and the worst teams get the first picks in the draft. Don't know how you could apply that to college football and I doubt it will ever happen, but it sure would make it more interesting to see some level of parity so that going into a season, you might have a half dozen teams that had a good shot at winning the SEC (as an example). Looking forward to the Hawgs and Kittys game, I just hope he Hawgs show up for it. Man do they stink this year. National Championship? I really don't care, no interest in any of those teams that are in the top 4.
  6. Thanks Mreed!
  7. That bite did get really weird later. I was dragging that Ned in 20 FOW, probably missed 5 fish in a row, no bite at all, it would just start to feel heavy, I'd set the hook, have them on long enough to know it was a fish, and they'd come off. That smallie whacked it, but it was a different bite also, had one on, probably another smalls, it got off, I let the Ned drop for about a second and the one I caught whacked it. Had another nice brown fish follow that one to the boat.
  8. Way to go Jaguar! My theory for Friday is that when the sun came out it brought the shad up, followed by the stripers going after them.
  9. I second that motion!
  10. Fished in the morning, the day started out cold and foggy, but rapidly warmed up into the mid 60's. Mainly fished the Ned rig, and there was a decent bite, boated 15 fish and lost many others, it was one of those days where the bite was weird and they were hard to stick. Mostly 12-14 inch spots, had 3 that were right around the keeper mark. Chunk rock banks in 10-20 FOW WT was 54 early in the AM.
  11. Some great fish, congrats!

  13. Launched at dawn at Indian creek along with a couple of other boats. Looked for striper activity around the launch, didn't see a whole lot, made a few casts with the top water but no takers. Decided to try a few spots for smallies, couldn't find those guys either. Noticed some terns circling and diving, motored over to them, and spotted some stripers boiling. 2nd cast at them with the top water, had a fish blow up on it twice, but it missed it both times. Couldn't get any more pops and the top water activity died down, so back I went on the black bass hunt. Just could not find the bass, I covered a lot of water, caught 4 spotted bass of no account on a ned rig, for what it is worth they were around cedar trees in 10-20 FOW. About noon I was ready to call it a day, got about a 1/2 mile from the launch and once again saw boiling stripers. Chased them around for a while with the top water, just could not get them to hit on top even though they were eating shad on top. I decided to try and match the hatch, tied on a one ounce tail spinner on my spinning tackle and started burning it around the boils when I could get near them. I could really toss that chunk of lead a long way which sure is a help to get to those fish that are always on the move and hard to get near. Anyway, about cast #6 I hooked a freight train, I was using a medium action spinning rod with 8 lb. mono, so not much I could do but hang on and follow the fish around using my trolling motor. That fish made some long, deep runs - I was in 125 FOW and a 1/4 mile from shore so had plenty of water to work with, so I'd let it run when it wanted to. Sometimes it would stop, I'd try and move it towards me and I couldn't move that fish. Had it on for several minutes and the line broke - looked at it where it broke and noticed some frays, my guess is that fish moving away from me rubbed the line on its back or spine, who knows, but line fray did me in. Tied on another tail spinner, started chasing fish, got another hook up, after a lengthy fight, put an 8 lber in the boat - it was a hard fighting fish, made several good runs, but I could tell it was not in the class of the one that got off. That was enough for me, I was out of there at 2 PM. Lots of terns in the area, they weren't there 10 days ago, those birds see the stripers and they'll start diving on them to get the shad they push to the top. Surface temp was 53. 15. I don't know if it was ever ON the rails. 😜
  16. Weren't we talking about fat goldfish?
  17. Caught in Hungary, at a place known as a 'Carp-fishing paradise'. https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/more-sports/catch-of-massive-carp-places-british-angler-in-rare-company/ar-BBPFTAg?ocid=spartandhp
  18. Isn't there a convoy with a couple of thousand Honduran bow fishermen headed our way?
  19. When I lived in Washington state I used to trailer my boat to saltwater launches and I had my share of trailer light issues. You have my sympathy.
  20. Looks to be plenty of boats. Thanks guys!
  21. I think I included him in the calculation. I figure by the time it rolls around the number will change by one or two either way. Should be in the $115 to $125 range per person. But be prepared to go as high as $150, just depends on if everyone shows.
  22. I would give Ranger a call. That being said, I bet 3700 sized containers will fit, assuming that's what kind of storage box you prefer. They measure around 14"X 9" X 2" deep.
  23. Need to get a line on boats and open seats, several of us are boatless and are greatly appreciative of seat offers. However, should there not be enough seats, we can rent boat(s) from Miles - it's $100/day. We need to get this figured out before arriving in case we need to notify Miles to get a boat ready. Here's the boat people I have so far: Mreed (possibly one open seat) Zigjigman Terrierman (possibly one open seat) Little Red Ham? Eric? Here's the list for boatless bank beaters: Myself JestersHK and possible 2 friends Daryk Campbell SR John's Folly Billethead I think Wounded one could be fishing with Eric? If I missed anyone, please reply.
  24. Well I have 16 down for lodging now - if that is the case that works out to 112.50 each, but we can round it up to $113. If it's 15 it will be $120, so bring some extra cash in case someone cancels. Remember Riley's only takes cash or checks. I have no problem being the treasurer, I'll have a big envelope we will put the money in and hand it to Miles, come see me when we're there and fork over the dough. I am claiming dibs on the first bedroom to the right on the ground floor of Cedar Gables, I am bringing my pooch and it's a convenient place to put him.
