  1. I like to hear that you are getting them on the deep FB jig. That's always a fun bite.
  2. Didn't know they got that far north.
  3. It is funny how two lakes so close together can be so different at times. There were lots of shad on top out in the channel, perfect conditions for the bass to be after them, but they weren't. There were would be one or two every once in a while after the shad, but never any schools that I saw. The gar were really active however. It would be a good time to throw one of those rope lures at the gar if a guy was so inclined.
  4. Neat old pics. Is that Fish Fishburne?
  5. Table Rock was foggy early yesterday and the fish were biting, then it got slick, sunny and hot like you saw on Beaver. The fish just shut down also. Not seeing any schooling activity there like you saw.
  6. Sorry to see that. I have done it a time or two myself, but fortunately never caused any damage.
  7. Got to the launch at 0630, and the fog was thick, stayed close waiting for it to burn off, took almost 2 hours for it to go away. Threw a buzz bait to start, boated 2 short bass and had another half dozen take a swipe at it. Gar were interested in the buzzer also, had one follow it right up to the trolling motor, and had another one, and it looked to be about as long as my leg, grab it right at the boat. He had it for about a second, I looked at him, he looked at me, and he swapped ends and took off. Fortunately he let go of the bait before he took off. Threw a "Crock-o-Gator" buzzbait for the first time today. Compact buzzbait, you can bend the wire a little so that the blade makes contact with the body and get a pretty good clacking noise if you want to. One thing I did not like about it was that the skirt strands will sometimes work their way onto the shaft holding the blade, easy to fix, but it will wreck the retrieve when it happens. When the fog burned off the top water bite died, so I threw some jigs and did a little drop shotting. Picked up a few fish, but never really found them. Left at noon with a dozen total, 2 keepers. Water temp was 80. Did not see a single wake boarder, skier or jet ski.
  8. Whoever has Power Poles will win. Doesn't hurt to have a Hydrowave either.
  9. According to the guide, tomorrow at noon, NBCSP will air a one hour recap of the spring FLW tourney held on Beaver Lake. Something neat they have done on the other shows this year is they give you a Google Earth type view of where anglers are fishing. See Jimmy Houston catch fish on a spinner bait!
  10. Thanks for the report, I like that they are doing some shad chasing on top.
  11. September is so tough at times, but a guy should be able to get a sniff or two on the buzz bait early. Get 'em next time.
  12. Glad to see you pulled through and are on the way to healing up.
  13. The Hog proves to be mightier than the Frog. Watching that game just about gave me an ulcer. A lot of rabbits were pulled out of the Hogs hat.
  14. Ouch! Tell Champ he has my sympathy.
  15. I believe there is a tournament or three going on today also. Hopefully this rain will get the bass going.
  16. Looks like it is looking to spawn a few months early. A nice fish nonetheless.
  17. From my quick look at Little Sugar as I passed over it on 71, it is not up much, maybe a foot, but it is the color of coffee with cream. No rain here so far today, looks like it all passed just to the north, but the forecast is for more tonight.
  18. In Elaztech we trust..
  19. I see the generation info now. Still can't see the TR lake level graphs.
  20. Was watching the FSSW Fishing report show, and one of the local OK "Pros" mentioned this bait for the Ned. It does not appear to be made out of Elaztech. Little paddle tail on the end might give it some good fluttering action when twitched or slow crawled. I don't see it for sale anywhere yet. http://www.tacklewarehouse.com/icast16.html?ccode=GENE16A
  21. The charts break periodically. I tried to get the lake level for TR from the Corps site, but it errors out with a security certificate warning. It has been broke since last Friday.
  22. Sounds like you'd better stay away from BV Marine. I was concerned when I saw they had gotten big.
  23. Wow, I don't have a rain gauge, but I think about an inch or two at my house. I'll probably drive over Little Sugar later today and let you know Trophy. Radar shows another round on the way.
  24. The thing is, I doubt there is anyone here that fishes or would fish a Zebco 33 as an ultra light trout rig. So you're probably not going to get any advice on here on how to use that reel for that purpose. If you can make it work for you, that's great, but you're probably going to continue to face the same issues you're facing now going forward. There's some folks on this board, Ham and Phil Lilley come to mind, that fish 1/16 oz jigs quite a bit for trout. I think you'll find they use small diameter braid or Nanofil with a fluoro leader. I've seen Ham in action and he can sling a small jig pretty well. If you are interested in how they do it, you could PM them and they would probably be happy to share with you what their set up is. If you're going to go that ultra light route, the right tackle can make a world of difference. That doesn't mean it has to be expensive tackle either.
  25. If Fishinwrench is too far away, you can give Bella Vista Marine a shot. Do you think you need a new lower unit? If so, you could give BV a call and see if they can give you an estimate, and then you can do some comparisons with other mechanics. I used BV Marine about 6 years ago and they always treated me fairly and got the job done. But, they have grown quite a bit since then. Even though they call themselves BV Marine, they are located in Rogers. http://www.bellavistamarine.com/
