  1. Fished it this morning with a friend. We caught around 25, biggest was 2.5 lbs. About half were 10-12" dinks. Mostly on Carolina rigs with plastic craws. A few on the drop shot also. There's about a 1/2 dozen boats that sit out in the main lake looking for a top water bite, talked to one of them back at the ramp and he said there wasn't much of a bite this morning. We did see some fish chasing shad up on the bank, but not a lot.
  2. Yep, a good day for this time of year.
  3. New hard swim bait that just came out, and for $20 it's reasonable in the swim bait world. Just curious as to what the swim bait guys think about it. It says it is "slow floating" - does it sink when retrieved, then float up on the pause? http://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Lucky_Craft_Real_Ayu_178/descpage-LCRLAYU.html
  4. They do a lot of graphing on the TVA lakes it seems. Those fish seem to gravitate to the off shore ledges post spawn and school up. I believe those lakes have quite a bit of current compared to what we have in our COE lakes. It is interesting that lately with some current being generated on TR, that guys are finding some good fishing off shore throwing deep cranks. It wouldn't hurt to be able to locate those fish on the depth finder.
  5. I'm in the depth finders as a tool camp. When I'm fishing the shallows, or the local BV lakes that I know like the back of my hand, I don't even turn them on. I'm also a little suspicious that the constant tick-tick-tick noise the sonar makes, may alert the fish that you are in the area. Or maybe not, I'm still on the fence on that one. But, if I'm fishing the drop shot, or winter fishing in the depths, or fishing the depths at any time, I use it a lot.
  6. Sounds like some tough fishing, I've heard that from some other folks also. Seems they are grouped up, if you can find them, it's pretty good, if not, it's tough.
  7. I wonder if the TW description is off? Looking at the video the Bad Shad looks much larger than the 2" and 2.5" in the description. Looks like Berkley has decided to target the bass fishing market with a lineup of new crank baits.
  8. Good one!
  9. Phil posted this on the Taney forum. I don't think we will see a rapid drawdown anytime soon. JOPLIN, MO – July 16, 2015 – The Empire District Electric Company announced today that lower lake levels may be possible for Lake Taneycomo beginning in the next several days. During the recent high water flows at Ozark Beach (Powersite) Dam, damage occurred to the air bladder system that holds the steel gates at the top of the dam in an upright position. This automated system helps maintain the lake level at elevations up to 701 feet. It also provides a safety mechanism to release larger flows when necessary to aid in flood control. Releases from Table Rock Dam will be slowing over the next several days to allow the storage balance between Table Rock and Bull Shoals to return to normal. The reduced flow may result in Taneycomo levels dropping to approximately 697 feet. To allow Empire’s Ozark Beach personnel to investigate the damaged system and make plans for necessary repairs, Bull Shoals will have to drop to approximately 680 feet. This could result in low levels on Taneycomo for an extended period. In making the announcement, Kyle Slagle, Director of Water Operations, stated, “We apologize for the inconvenience to Taneycomo area dock owners and recreationists. We are working with the U.S. Corps of Engineers, the Southwest Power Administration and the Missouri Department of Conservation to ensure fisheries are protected during this period.” Slagle continued, “Once lake levels drop to a point where we can access the air system for the gates, we will work to complete the repairs as quickly as possible to allow the lake level to return to normal.”
  10. It's a Yozuri Whack-O. They quit making them several years ago. Sometimes they pop up on Ebay.
  11. Son! You guys really got into them, congrats on the win!
  12. You guys are talking me into thinking smallie now. A couple of means: A dark smallie:
  13. Yeah, I look at the pic on the left and think Mean, the one on the right, smallie. I wonder if hybrids (meanmouth) can spawn? As far as I know, most other fish hybrids are sterile.
  14. Good times for sure!
  15. The regular 110. I don't believe they have a 110 +1 knockoff, but maybe it's out there.
  16. Never been on LOZO, but it would be hard to beat Grand.
  17. Nice fish Wyatt! I'm leaning Mean on that one, but hard to tell for sure. if it is a Mean, it's close to the state record, which I believe in 5 lbs. 10 oz.
  18. 6th Sense has a 110 +1 knockoff http://www.6thsenselures.com/#!provoke-106dd-jerkbait/c1m1c Predator Baits sells a 110 +1 blank for $2.75. If you do your own painting you could save huge coin. I'm surprised Luck-E-Strike hasn't come out with a +1 knockoff.
  19. Interesting, sounds like they are clearly going after the Wiggle Wart. Berkley cranks are usually reasonably priced.
  20. Cool - Did you get them to bring back Missouri Craw?
  21. Yeah, I agree, not what I anticipated at all.
  22. They've downsized the Rat. I like the 30 size. http://www.tacklewarehouse.com/ICAST15.html?ccode=SPRO15B
  23. I am disappointed by the colors they are using. Looks to be targeting the trout/salmon market. You'd think they'd throw out a couple in craw type colors. http://www.tacklewarehouse.com/ICAST15.html?ccode=SPRO15D
  24. Re-introduction of the Daiwa Fuego: http://www.tacklewarehouse.com/ICAST15.html?ccode=DAIWA15D
  25. The EPA proposed cutting corn-based ethanol from the original Clean Air Act standards through 2016. A final decision is expected Nov. 30. The RFS — passed into law in 2007 — calls for the use of increasing amounts of ethanol each year. In May, the EPA released the proposed volume obligations for 2015 and 2016. The proposed standards decrease volume levels to 13.4 billion gallons for 2015 and 14 billion gallons for 2016. Congress scheduled at least 16.3 billion gallons for 2015 and 17.4 billion gallons for 2016. In 2014, the U.S. used 15.9 billion gallons in 2014, some 1.7 billion gallons less than legislated.
