  1. Speaking of Ploppers, 2 weeks ago I was throwing a 90, the only one I have in that size. It broke off on a cast and landed in the water, no big deal I thought, I'll just troll over and get it. I start moving towards it, and I see a fish swirl on it, Plopper disappears. Hung around for a couple of minutes to see if it worked loose from the fish and float up. It never did reappear.
  2. Seems to be a revival of the Plopper bite. Nice fish!
  3. Swimming a Keitech has worked well for me this year. If they are busting top, I'll throw some kind of top water at them, if I can get them to hit it, great, if not I'll swim the Keitech. Even though you'll see fish on top, you'll usually also see a bunch 20-40 feet down on your graph. Slow rolling that Keitech to them will often work. You'll get a lot of bites on the drop, that Keitech tails kicks real well when it is dropping. Something that also has worked for me in the past, is throwing 1/2 ounce jigging spoons at them, as soon as it hits the water, rip it, let it fall for a second, than rip it again, repeat until you get it to the boat or a bass grabs it. Flutter spoon, as Tim says, is another good option. I think if you look at some of Bill Babler's latest reports you'll see some tips on what to use and how to work it.
  4. Awesome! Doggone 4th of July weekend is getting in the way of my fishing, I won't be near that lake this weekend myself.
  5. Daiwa hit a home run on the Tatula, especially at $90. The one I have casts well, doesn't backlash more than any other BC I own, feels well machined, and a smooth drag. I have heard some complaints that they are a bit big compared to other BC's, and I'm sure it's an issue for some, but not for me.

    What's Cooking?

I do something similar, no dill, add black olives, tomatoes, Feta cheese, Greek Vinaigrette dressing, and now you have a "Greek salad". A good way to use up some of those garden cucumbers.
  7. It is not too bad early, but later, about 10 AM it starts to pick up.
  8. Very nice, I love those big spots!
  9. Something I have noticed, is that I have hardly caught any brown fish on top this spring. Maybe that brownies being much more numerous up there by the dam, accounted for the poor TW bite up there. Could be that they need clear water to get going on top.
  10. I couldn't tell you, but it's worth a shot.
  11. Fished the last couple of mornings, caught fish on a variety of baits, but never hammered them on anything specific. Had early top water action both mornings, on the 29th is was brief, but the fish were in one spot, whereas today the fish were scattered in the main channel chasing shad and the bite stayed going for a while, if I could get a bait on them, they would hit it, but just could not find them schooling to get a good, consistent TW bite. I got a couple of keeper large mouth that were just out in the middle of nowhere, but hit the top water. It's hard to pin them down when they are roaming around out there. Yesterday the Keitech bite was decent for fish down 15-30 feet off a couple of steep, rocky points, but today that bite just wasn't happening. Today found some Ned fish and a few jig fish. Jig fish and Ned fish were right up on the bank off rocky banks. Caught 40 bass in the two mornings, might have had 6-7 keepers, nothing over 2 lbs.
  12. Top water bite depended on what end of the lake you were on. Mid-May this year up the White was the best top water bite I have ever seen in my 8 years of fishing up there. Once the shad started spawning, the bass went nuts. I'm hoping once fall rolls around, it will get going again. I remember last fall there was a brief, but good Whopper Plopper bite - I missed that one, grrrr...
  13. That's pretty good fishing considering the time of day you were out there.
  14. Yep, I doubt it is a secret location. Timing is what is important.
  15. Green Pumpkin is a good one. If you're going to night fish, might want to bring black or black/blue.
  16. Very nice chunky largemouth! So, Alex water skied between you and the bank and then came back and jumped in front of you (on your private cove no less) and started throwing a crank? The nerve of some people!
  17. It's 4th of July weekend. I counted 5 fireworks shows in the MO Regatta listings. https://www.mshp.dps.missouri.gov/WP04Web/app/searchRegattaWeb?action=Search+Again I did not see a jig listed in your list of lures, I would throw one at night, if you're going to night fish. Wobble head with a beaver or creature might be worth dragging around after dark also. Carolina rig will get you a few I bet, with a Trick Worm or UV Speed Craw.
  18. I have been looking for a rod that fishes "Crack" baits well. According to this BassPro review, this may be the one. " This rod is an awesome do it all rod , i got the 7' MH fast action. Having fished many rods this thing is by far the best for the money , it's light super sensitive and i mean you can feel every pebble your soft plastics run across , excellent for crack baits'n blade baits just the same. I took it out fishing a few times now and got at least 20 largemouth monsters , although i know it wasn't the rod responsible for catching them but my superior skills as a self appointed master of the trade. Compared to other rods the fast action is a bit more like extra fast with enough backbone for an excellent hook set so now my Duckett is going in the garage sale bin. I've also compared it with the G Loomis rods and this by far is sweeter to fish with. "
  19. 16 and change to win, looks like the fishing was tough. http://www.flwfishing.com/results For some reason I can't get the entire link, so you'll have to click the tournaments tab, then navigate to BFL.

  21. Great to see you and your daughter had a good time. 20 lbs. is a darn good bag for this time of year in a day time tourney.
  22. Never have fished that river, but it sounds like fun to get smallies and trout on the same float. 20" bows are pretty impressive.
  23. Very nice, looking forward to seeing some walleye pics.
  24. Welcome! Looking forward to hearing how you do.
  25. HAHA, you are very funny... I like Strike King Rage Structure Bugs, they have a PB&J.
