  1. Thanks for posting! Ham might like it that you stocked redear fingerlings in Bull.
  2. I like that one, I'll have to remember it.
  3. Reminds me of an old joke: I was sitting down along the lake enjoying the cool breeze off the water, and admiring the view, when I noticed down the bank about 30 yards there was a squirrel sitting on a limb, overhanging the water about two feet, eating a hickory nut. I sat there for a couple minutes watching him and about that time the biggest large mouth bass I ever seen jumped out of the water and ate that squirrel. And do you know what? About a minute later that bass jumped out of the water and set another hickory nut back up on that limb.
  4. Yep, I could fish Minnesota in the summer.
  5. That is a huge sum of money, and a person could certainly donate a large amount to charity, hand out some cash to family members, but still have a chunk of change leftover. I'd buy a chunk of land where I could build my own lake and that lake would be at least 100 acres in size. I'd build it so that it would be structurally the best largemouth habitat that it could be. I would buy a chunk of land in South Dakota for my own private pheasant hunting reserve. And build a lodge on it. Certainly would be doing several exotic fishing trips a year, salmon fishing in Alaska, redfish in the gulf, etc.,
  6. JF, I believe you are about the first person I have heard that wants to go north in the winter to go fishing. I've done the ice fishing thing before, and if I can help it, I'll never go ice fishing again.
  7. Looks like a Liberty head nickel in the back ground.
  8. Yeah, I fear that you may be correct.
  9. I would be afraid to give it to someone, they might get so mad, they'd roll it up and start beating me with it. I don't want to be the next day headline: "Man beaten to death with rolled up Ike calendar."
  10. I was just going to say the same thing, go for the pre-spawn fish. Better big fish possibilities too.
  11. Table Rock Lake Update: The lake is at elevation 929.63 and falling. A combined discharge from the spillway and hydropower units of 20,000 cubic feet per second are scheduled to last up to three weeks without any additional rainfall. So, if this continues for 3 weeks, at a rate of almost a foot drawn down every 24 hours, we should see 910 or so in a few weeks, and that would be fine by me. Assuming no significant rain storms move in, and I don't see any in the extended forecast.
  12. That's where they dropped it to last winter, then we got some heavy rain in March and we never saw that level again.
  13. And I believe this money goes into the general fund, not to the COE's operating budget. So, basically, it's wasted. Might as well take a $10 bill out of your wallet and burn it, you're out $10 and it won't make one bit of difference to the federal budget.
  14. I'm in on that, 7 lb. bluegill would be fine with me. Fly rod fishing with an 8" long popping bug.

    Chiefs

I have a hard time taking them seriously, but it seems every AFC team in the playoffs is flawed, so I guess it is possible for them to make it to the Super Bowl. Chiefs have a good D and a ball control, don't make turnovers offence. But if they need to score because they are behind, that's where I get concerned.
  16. That calendar is so stupid that it is funny. However, it would make a great gag gift for the right person.
  17. If you go to the Table Rock forum you there is a pinned lake level thread near the top. It's just a bit below 930 right now and slowly dropping.
  18. I walk out of the barber shop this morning, there's a big extended cab Dodge truck in the parking lot. Has a camper shell with boat racks on top. Look at the side of the camper shell and it has a small Tenkara sticker on the side. As I walk past the rear of the truck, I look at it to see what other stickers might be on it, no stickers but the personalized license plate reads: TENKARA. So if any of you Arkansas folks had thought of getting a personalized plate with TENKARA on it, you're too late, it'll have to be TENKARA1 or something similar. If I had seen that plate 3 months earlier than this, I would have had no idea what TENKARA meant.
  19. Did you get a chance to do some pre-fishing? Can't say it is this case in your tourney, but usually you will be competing against guys that have been out on the water quite a bit before the tourney. Really tough for a Saturday fisherman to be competitive in these bigger tourneys, I'm not saying it can't be done, but that's a tough row to hoe.
  20. Well here's my first fish of the New Year, he ain't much, but happy to catch him and a few of his buddies in the cold, muddy water. Feel free to add on your first fish of 2016 pics.
  21. I want to fish crank baits more this year and also swimbaits.
  22. Looking at my notes from last year, they took TR down to 909 in early February. Makes me wonder if that is the target for early spring to create room for spring rains.
  23. Good find ^^
