  1. Yep, welcome back!
  2. Met Alex Heitman at the ramp today, we put in at 7 AM and fished until 2:30 PM. It was cold, windy and cloudy for most of the morning, I was expecting a tough day when we launched, but the fishing turned out to be pretty decent. Don't know the exact number, but we caught close to 30 blacks, mostly LM's but a couple of 2 - 2.5 lb. spots in the mix. Alex took big fish honors with a 6 lb. LM he caught off a brush pile using the A-rig. We caught a couple of 3 lb. fish and quite a few keepers, probably had in the neighborhood of 6 - 8 dinks, rest being keepers. A-rig for Alex and the tube for me gave us all but 2 fish. Alex got singles on the jerk bait and jig. Fish were, for the most part, up on the banks in 5 -10 feet of water, with a few, especially some of the A-rig fish out deeper. Water temps were 43-47. Alex with the 6 # bass. Me bringing up the rear with a 3 lber.
  3. Thanks for the report!
  4. HAHA, that's funny!

  6. Welcome!
  7. Yep thanks for the report, I need to fish that lake one of these days. Don't they have catch and release rules there, you can only keep one over a certain length?
  8. Sounds like the white bite has begun! Congrats on a good day.
  9. Good job, glad to see they are hitting the DC jig.
  10. Lake jumped a foot and a half.
  11. Mondotackle.com now sells shroom heads in 1/8 and 1/16 with a choice of manufacturers (all size 1) hooks, at least on the 1/16. They are unpainted (except chartreuse) and lacking weedguards.
  12. They're kind of fun, I've caught them fishing jigs on Grand - they'll HAMMER that jig, and like you say fight hard for a bit - then they give up. I can certainly understand why guys fishing tourneys don't want to be bothered by them, but I don't mind getting bit by them when I'm fun fishing.
  13. In the world of canned meats, I prefer Spam. It's much more versatile. Cold spam out of the can, fried spam and eggs, spam spaghetti, spam with Alfredo sauce, spam sandwiches, spam salad....
  14. Cool, Ned may have to make a trip to Grand, if, as Champ says, all the bass are dead, I hear Ned is a great drum catcher!
  15. My dad graduated from Wichita State, so I can pull for them.
  16. I'm not disappointed the Hogs did not make it either, except that I believe it does help recruiting to be able to say to a recruit that they can play for a team (coach) that has a track record of making the NCAA tourney.
  17. Might have been, silver F-150 towing a black/silver Phoenix.
  18. Guys, it all boils down to laziness, after a day of fishing, last thing I want to do is clean fish.
  19. I don't throw the rig either, not much fun IMO. But to win a tourney right now it sounds as if you have to throw it.
  20. Could have been, I was all over the place trying to find spots that didn't already have boats on them.
  21. AR Democrat Gazette had an article noting that February 27th was the 10 year anniversary of the Ivory billed being seen in the Arkansas green timber. The 2 guys that reported it still stand by their assertion that they did in fact see one that day. I hope that there are some out there, but no verifiable evidence has surfaced that they still exist.
  22. The ground outside is now snow covered, but the roads are only wet. Pretty darned windy to boot. And it's a cold wind. Grrrrr.....
  23. Looks like a great day! It was a zoo yesterday.
  24. I wonder if it would work at Grand lake in the stained water? Those fish probably see very little of "Ned".
