    World Cup

Watched some of the Germany vs France match - good game.
  2. Yep I always say the same thing, nobody seems to work anymore. But it is worse on the weekend. Of course, I'm retired also and just add to the weekday crowds. Come on November!
  3. Here are a couple of them - they're about 4" diameter.
  4. I have noticed that, plenty of shad, and the bass seem to be ignoring them - maybe that will change soon.
  5. Did a quick search for "drop Shot" and author Bill Babler. See Bill's comments in this thread.
  6. Bill Babler put together some drop shot tips a year or 2 ago, great stuff, you may have to do some searching to find it.
  7. I can't believe anyone would even think of pulling skiers in the fog.
  8. Good luck - I'll be curious to hear how you do, I've been thinking about going over there next week.
  9. If these onions get any stronger, that will not be good.
  10. Nice bass, not many folks weighing 6 lbers. lately.
  11. Yeah I like that wake bait (hopefully they run straight out of the box). If that re-issue of the Wiggle Wart is truly like the old ones - there's some guys out there that are going to be stuck with some old baits that suddenly won't have much value. Cool stuff, thanks for posting.
  12. Lots of fish getting stuck this spring, not just by the tourney folks either, and probably 80% are sub legal, so they are not going in live wells to be weighed. Maybe all the pressure wised them up a bit. I don't know. But as a counter argument, I'm just not seeing much feeding activity the last couple of weeks. I believe the bass are still there, just not very active. Now I just fish the White river channel, so can't speak for the lower lake.
  13. Ok, thanks - guess I'll need to give them some more time.
  14. Bought some sets this spring, "Texas Sweets" supposed to be a "sweet and mild" onion. Planted them last half of March, they are supposed to be read in 90-100 days, when the tops turn brown. Many of them now have brown tops, and about all have the tops fallen over. Pulled a couple today, pretty strong, but edible. But not what I would call "sweet and mild" Should I leave them in the ground a while longer? Or is this as good as it gets?
  15. Bird Watcher has given you a couple of good recommendations. I also see that WalMart.com has the new Daiwa Tatulas for $103. I haven't fished one, but the guys who have, rave about them.
  16. I noticed that yesterday, most of the bites I got were of the swim off, or feeling some rubbery tension on the line variety. I also had maybe a half dozen bites where they would tap it one time and drop it. The fish seem to be inactive, feels more like August fishing instead of early July.

I'm liking the Germany vs France match. You can bet that's a big deal in those 2 nations.
  18. I'm thinking whenever we have the next get together there.
  19. Well thanks for bringing those smallies up there - they sure are a hoot to catch. I have caught a few 6-8" smallies this spring, they must be spawning up in the White channel.
  20. Who woulda thunk?
  21. I believe he was 1 for 4 last night.
  22. So true, Grand is a rodeo during the summer.
  23. Fished from 0530 to about noon, it was tough sledding - caught 7 bass, biggest was a smallie that was just short of 3 lbs. Every fish came on a Megabug fished on a 1/2 oz wobble head. Caught a couple shallow early, then the rest came in 10-20 feet of water, usually on rocky ledges or points with timber. Dragged the drop shot around on a few of my deep drop shot spots, but not much going on, had one hook up and that was it. Water temp was 82.

    World Cup

It was fun, and I think we got about as much from this team as we could expect. Sure would be nice to see the US someday field a team that has a legitimate shot at going to the final.
  25. That's a pile of sockeye - good eats!
