  1. I'll keep an eye out for you guys. I'll probably be fishing somewhere Thursday if the weather cooperates.
  2. Dang Snap, you had some good seats, I am jealous.
  3. Launched in some heavy fog this morning about 0830. Went back to fishing the jig on shallow cover. That did not work quite as well today than it did Saturday. Threw a c-rig around for a bit also. Caught 9 bass, 2 keepers. Very light biters today, Saturday they just swallowed that jig, today, the ones I managed to get into the boat, were usually just barely hooked. I missed 3 big fish, two of them I never saw. Never knew they were on the jig, what happened was I'd throw it out there, think it hit bottom, lift the jig and feel something solid just like hanging on some wood. But then the wood took off - all of them pulled drag and got off after a few seconds, just never got the hook to stick. The one I saw I got up to the boat, looked to be a spot in the 3 - 4lb range, really hated to see that one get off. Another big bass encounter I had, was late in the afternoon as I was fishing a rock point, there were quite a few shad in the area. I was using a c-rig, had my rod under my arm, adjusting my bait, happened to look down at the trolling motor and see a big fish slowly swimming up to the boat. At first I think that it must be a carp, but got a good look at it, it was a bass, I'm thinking 6 or 7 llbs. I freeze and watch it slowly swim under the boat. I dropped my bait over the side, but she wouldn't go for it. Never saw her again. Big bass of the day was this fat 2 lb. spot caught c-rigging a Zoom Ultravibe Speed Craw. Took a picture of a Red Maple growing on a bluff, sunlight was a little bright so the picture doesn't do it justice. Saw 4 turkeys strolling in the woods. Water temp 64.

I bet he's a happy guy right now.

Smith can't complete a pass over 20 yards. He missed a couple of deep throws yesterday when he had open receivers. I think Bowe is getting a little frustrated.
  6. They have exceeded expectations for sure.
  7. Been a great Series so far.

Not my personal best, but all I'm seeing are pictures of river fish. Here's a Table Rock smallie I caught in July.

    Nice one!
  10. Thanks for the report, beautiful fish those sea trout are.

    Another win today.
  12. It would be interesting to hear those stories. Would have made a heck of a multiday float trip.
  13. I don't know why they keep playing Drew, he's in a terrible slump. Put Bogaerts at SS and Middlebrooks at 3B.
  14. Some nice fish, I'd like to fish Kentucky lake one of these days, I wish it was closer.
  15. I didn't see much of the game, but it sounds like Mizzou went into what I call a "prevent offence", in other words getting a lead and then becoming conservative. Punting from the opponents 36 would be one symptom of that sometimes fatal disease. You have to keep the pedal to the metal, don't let up on your opponent if there's a reasonable chance they can still come back to beat you. It's one of the worst coaching sins a coach can make, but it's amazing how many do it.
  16. Water color is variable, some of the coves are stained almost to a pea green color, but the main channel is clearer. Didn't really notice any leaves in the water. Speaking of leaves, they are turning a nice color in that area. Maples are peaking, when you can spot them through the oaks. Some colorful hickory, sumac, and dogwood also.
  17. That was a crazy end. I see a press article where they're calling the last play "controversial", I think the obstruction call was justified (this coming from a Bosox fan). Salty made a bad throw to 3rd that caused the whole thing, he makes a good throw and the game would have continued.
  18. Tough loss, however they still have a shot at winning out and beating Bama in the SEC championship, unlikely I think, but still possible.
  19. Got a late start today, left the launch at 0930. Started off fishing points and deep drop offs, didn't have any luck on that stuff, thought maybe with the clouds and wind there might be some bass up shallow, so I started fishing buck brush edges and timber with a jig. That pattern worked for a while, caught 7 or 8 largemouth up shallow, I think every one of them was a keeper with a couple 2 -2.5 lb. fish. That bite stopped around 1 PM, scratched out about 1/2 dozen spots on the jig in the next couple of hours and called it quits about 3 PM. Water temp 63-65. A couple of fat bass, these guys are well fed, not your typical skinny fall largemouth. Some of the coves are packed with shad.
  20. Weird? I think it's beautiful! I like baseball parks that are unique and have their own personalities. Baseball parks, like the one in St. Louis, are generally so bland and generic.
  21. So the champion of the strongest conference in college football should not get in the Championship game? SEC is still the strongest conference, 7 straight national titles. It's nonsense to dispute that.
  22. SEC being the strongest conference.
  23. Sox returned the favor, shot themselves in the foot with bad defence.
  24. The Sox need to send the Cards a thank-you note because they got a gift. I heard that Bucholz is feeling some kind of pain and has been moved back. The next 2 nights the Cards get to face Lackey and Peavey, both of these guys make me nervous. Lackey has a good regular season ERA, but it's tough to get more than 6 innings out of him. Which means the Sox middle relievers will come in and they are a shaky bunch. Peavey got hammered in his last start. I wouldn't call tonight's game a must win for the Sox, but it's one they really need, as I think the Peavey start will be a game the Cards should win.
