I have 2 guys in the top 10, Palaniuk and Hamilton, then the other three are about 50th or worse with Chris lane bringing up the rear with 2 bass for 2.8 or something like that. C'mon Chris, I could fish the Ned all day and get at least 2 keepers...

I usually don't use scent, but some of the soft plastics I use have built in scent. Keitech, Paca Chunks, Strike King with their caffeine scent, Yum baits, and Megastrike. All those baits work, but so do Zoom baits which have a bit of a plastic scent from the material they are made of.

Except for Skylar Hamilton, all my guys are stinking it up right now.

That's weird that BSL doesn't have a bunch of them, has all the ingredients, spots and smallies. I have also caught a few in Beaver.

Welcome to the forum! I am no Beaver expert, but if you're after smallies on that lake there tend to be more up by the dam end of the lake. Not that you can't catch them anywhere on that lake, but dam end tends to hold the most.

With the forecast for temps in the 70's I had to go fishing. Good day for bites, I had one of those days where they were biting the Ned well but I missed more than usual, good bites too, they'd load up, I would set the hook, have them on for anywhere to 1-3 seconds and they'd get off, seems every once in a while there will be a day like that. Probably had a least a dozen pull off, couple of good pullers also. But I did put a dozen in the boat on the Ned in spite of the escapees, 3 were keepers. Still getting them deep for the most part, 20-30 FOW off rocky points, and around deep trees. However one of the best spots was off a transition bank where it went from gravel to about a 50 yard stretch of shelf rock with a good drop off. No trees in that spot, very little cover, no shad, but yet they were there, pulled 5 bass off that spot. The wind picked up in the afternoon, deep Ned fishing became not much fun, so I started throwing the Crawler on windy rocky banks. Picked up 4 bass on the Crawler, some chunky ones, close to being keeper sized, but just short. Water temps ranged from 46-47 in the main channel, to 49 back in a cove. Saw my first turtle of the year out sunning himself. Quite a few boats out there, not surprising given the weather.

Very nice, I was out there today myself, up by Big M. I don't know if I beat you on size, but I did get 3 keepers and another 15 shorts. All on the Ned, in 20-30 FOW and around trees, except for a few on a chunk rock bank. I can't get a shallow fish. Man you are right about the boats, a dozen rigs in the Big M lot which is a lot for that launch, and boats everywhere. I can see why, it was a great day to be out fishing!

Start from the dam and go halfway up the lake in the main channel, that would be the lower half.

I have some Dobyns rods, but not any of the latest models. I have a DX 702 casting rod, great rod for light baits. My main problem with Dobyns is that I have had a few guide inserts pop out. Dobyns has great customer service, they will send out a replacement guide, but it is still a bit of a hassle. Newer models may not have that problem.

Top 3 is fine with me. Somebody will have to set up a list when it's all over of who sends the baits to who.

Every time you weigh a fish with it you'll have to say the weight out loud. Even if you are by yourself.
