  1. What causes them to split like that?
  2. Interesting...I'll have to remember to try that next time a Beaver lake striper is heading towards the trees with my expensive jerk bait in it's mouth.
  3. Hey Santa - I want a few things out of that book - I'll send you a list. HAHA - Merry Christmas!
  4. I suppose we could do that, but we'll be using typical bass tournament rules - no bait, no trolling, and in addition no A-rig (multi-arm lures).
  5. Yes, some really nice fish.
  6. Excellent - Please feel free to bring them.
  7. You bet - biggest black bass, to include Largemouth, Smallmouth, Spotted bass and Meanmouth.
  8. Come on down, you are certainly welcome!
  9. OK, great, looks like we have enough to make a tourney on the 14th of March. I'll get the permit request for the Regatta sent in this week. So March 14th, Eagle Rock COE launch, 7 AM to 2 PM, and feel free to stay afterwards and meet some fine OAF folks. Heck, even if you don't fish the tourney, you can drop by and meet fellow OAFer's. We do need to get an estimate of how many folks are going to fish, so please continue to indicate here if you plan to attend. We may have a sponsor who may give out a prize to the winner and door prizes to entrants. Not making any commitments on this part yet, but someone has expressed a desire to do so. I'll start another thread this weekend with an entrant list, and re-list the short list of rules. Right now, the weigh in tool will be my Boga grip, if anyone has a better weigh in device, let me know. My grip is accurate, but it is in 1/4 oz increments, which is probably good enough, but you never know we could have 2 big bass that are close in weight. Trying to decide on the best way to conduct the weigh-in, could do it at the courtesy dock - or wait until people get there boats on trailer and weight them in the parking lot. I would like to minimize handling time, but yet give everyone the opportunity to eyeball the big bass. Doesn't look like there's enough interest for a walleye division, so we'll just go with big bass. Based on time of year and location, I bet there will be some incidental walleye catches.
  10. Good to hear he is OK, yeah you have to feel sorry for the little guy whether or not it is the mother or father (or both) who is at fault. Don't know for sure what the relationship of the abductor to the boy is, he is the boyfriend of the mother, but I don't know if he is the child's father.
  11. I'm fine with Eagle Rock on the 14th, I'll hold off on sending in the paperwork for a bit too see what others think, but we'll focus on Eagle Rock on the 14th. As far as teams, you can certainly fish with a friend in your boat - but whoever the individual is who catches the big bass gets the trophy.
  12. Just received this in my email from the Benton County alert system. Rodgers area: Please be on the lookout for a 2 year old child that was abducted from 2703 Highlands Drive in Rogers early this morning. The suspect is a white male by the name of Brent Wilks. Brent is believed to be driving a Black 2004 BMW 760 with an Arkansas Razorback license plate number of RZFPD. Rogers Police Department believes the child may be in danger and the child needs to be located immediately. Please see the attached press release and photos of the victim and suspect.
  13. I did just check the Regatta list (USA Bassin isn't on the Regatta list) - nothing going out of Big M on the 14th, at least as showing on the list. Just don't think Big M is big enough to handle a couple of tourneys on the same day. We could go out of Eagle Rock on the 21st, but I'm going to see what the response is for the 14th.
  14. Dang, I did not know anyone else ran tourneys out of Big M. We could move it up to March 14. Let me know what you all think of the 14th.
  15. I might sign up for it, but I'm a wimp when it comes to cold - if it looks like that's going to be a weekend where it Is below freezing for the most part, then I probably would stay home.
  16. Yes Phil, thanks! One more thing - This will be a No A-rig tourney.
  17. I've talked to a few members and have seen comments on the board about having an OAF tournament. I am thinking of putting one together if there is enough interest. I think all that is needed is to get a Missouri Regatta permit and a COE permit, (if there is anything else, let me know). Here's what I'm thinking: Tournament to be run out of the Big M COE launch - Date Saturday March 21, I'm thinking March to get it in before the spawn and before tournament season really kicks in. Big bass format - biggest black bass wins. Tournament is free, however winner will receive a trophy with a suitable engraving - think of the prestige of winning this trophy! Tournament would run from 7AM to 2PM, leaving time post-tournament for people to do some socializing. I'd probably bring a charcoal grill and burgers and hot dogs. Probably need at least 10 boats to make it worthwhile, if you are seriously interested and would probably make it - post it here on this thread. Would also like to have a volunteer or two to help out with weigh-in etc. We could also have a walleye division along the same lines, big walleye wins. Rules for walleye would be different, trolling allowed and use of bait. A fisherman would have to declare which division (bass or walleye) they are fishing in before launch. You need to be a registered OAF member to participate.
  18. Some nicely colored browns.
  19. Come on now, how many people get to ice fish for stripers?
  20. Hard to beat Mountain Home as a place to live for the fisherman.
  21. "Schools of crawfish, upwards of a thousand of them in a school" - and he has video - just can't get it to "upload".
  22. Thankfully we don't have to worry about ice fishing.
  23. Kudos Jim!
  24. I consider below 40 to be cold.
