    Another tough day for me, 9 bass total, one that was 3 lbs., one other keeper, and some 12-14" spots. Most of my fish came on the jig, a couple on topwater. Jig bite was ridiculously light, most of the time they just seemed to pick it up and sit there with it or slowly swim off with it, by the time I figured it out I'd swing and miss. No thumps or ticks. Really weird, both the LM's and spots were doing this. Top water fish were being picky also, they'd swirl at the lure but not touch it, had a couple jump right over it. Oh well, still fun to get out and fish.

    I'll take Danny's word on it, but my Merc Manual has about a page and a half warning on the potential evils of ethanol blended fuel. Potential, mainly due to ethanol separation, which is probably not an issue for me as much as I run my engine. But there may be periods of time in the fall winter where my boat may sit for a while. I use 89 non-ethanol, maybe I'm wasting a couple of bucks when I put gas in the boat, but I'm OK with that. I also use Quickleen per Danny's recommendation.

    I'm more concerned with storage and alcohol separating from ethanol fuel than anything else. But I'll have to see if I can find these bulletins you mention, sure could save a buck or two running 87 with ethanol.

    I've never met Bill personally, but have always enjoyed his contributions to this site. Very nice biography and it confirms my thoughts that Bill is a stand-up guy and a credit to fishermen and guides alike. I did see Bill speak at that jerkbait seminar a few years ago that he and Phil put on. I learned 90% 0f what I know about fishing jerkbaits at that seminar.

    I have 100 miles round trip to Big M, at about 13 MPG, so that's about 8 gallons, I don't do a lot of running around on the big motor, and keep it around 4,000 RPM, so I will usually burn about 4-5 gallons in the 200 Merc. So about 13 gallons total. Boat gas is non-ethanol so a bit more, so it's probably $50 for fuel and oil. I usually make the trip to Big M once, and sometimes twice a week.

    IMO there's no way that guy should have found employment as a LEO anywhere. He must have some good connections in Sulphur Springs.

    Bill we have to get there early before you sore lip all the fish I saw a Phoenix with 3 guys in it, maybe it was you? Is your boat wrapped or are you going incognito?

    2 games over .500 now. They've been playing well, winning 8 of the last 10, but unfortunately Detroit has won 9 out of the last 10. Didn't do much before the trade deadline, adding a right handed batting platoon type outfielder. I was hoping they would get a bat at 2nd base. It will be interesting to see what they do during the off season.

    Lancer you are optimistic, but I hope you are right. Only thing I would say about the Indy comparison is they have, based on only one year's performance, an elite QB.

    Duck - I think I saw you guys go by me, I waved, and I was in a silver/gun metal/black Phoenix. I'll keep an eye out for you next time, and like wise, if you see me, stop by. Man you are right about the humidity, sweat was running down my back by 7 AM.

    The bass did not like me this morning, caught 8 with 2 keepers, both being 15" smallmouth. Got a few on jigs, one on a top water, couple on the drop shot, and one on the Trick worm. Had a couple of chasers chase the worm in, I'm thinking that a fluke or soft swim bait may have worked. May have to give that a shot next time. Water temp 81-82. Appears to be a bit of an algae bloom going on.

    What part of the lake will you be fishing? Are you targeting bass?
