  1. I remember reading that Kentucky bluegrass is actually from Europe.
  2. Should be fun to watch, anyone know who is pitching?
  3. Thanks for the advice Champ, looks like tomorrow may be bit breezy, and I'm ready to try something besides the drop shot.
  4. Great report, lots of good info, thanks again Bill!
  5. Cool, glad to hear you're doing well!
  6. Started off fishing a couple of cove backends, lots of minnows flipping around in the backs, but didn't see any bass chasing them, threw topwater. jig and senko and could not get bit. Decided to head out to the main lake points and try and find a drop shot bite. Graphed a couple of points, didn't see any activity, but kept hunting and found some active fish. Got some on the drop shot and around 9 AM had a bit of a topwater bite (wind came up and put them down after about 20 minutes). Ended up with 17 bass, mostly spots, 2 LM. Spots were just a tad better than the usual ones I've been getting, one measured at 16.5" and had several in the 14-15" range. Zoom finesse worm in Old Purple was working well. Fish were in the 20-30 FOW range. Threw an SB on a windy bank for a while, no love for it. Had the drop shot on the bottom, saw some topwater activity, set down the DS rod, tossed the TW out there and hooked up on a 12" fish, looked down at the DS rod, and sure enough, the tip was being pulled into the water. Picked up the DS and now I had a rod in each hand with a fish on. Only probelm with that is I didn't have a free hand to reel Ended up putting down the DS rod and keeping my foot on it, boated the TW fish, then boated the DS fish. Pic below. Water temp 73.
  7. Good on you, you did a heck of a lot better than I did. I assume that water temp at 45 was a typo?
  8. Very nice, and kudos to the anonymous guide who gave you the tip!
  9. So F&F, get a deer yet? Taking the dog out for a walk yesterday, got to the end of the driveway, noticed some movement off to my right, nice 3 point buck looking at me 25 feet away, soon as we made eye contact he bolted.
  10. Good stuff, glad to see the fish are biting and the geese are dying!
  11. Watched the first half of the Razorgirls vs A&M game, don't know why I bother, once again they are living down to my expectations. They were actually up at one point 10-7, but when I saw one of the pigettes "defenders" bounce off the A&M QB on an attempted tackle, I started getting worried. The next thing I know they're down 27-10. Maybe the guy who gets paid to act like a coach can fire up the team with an inspirational speech and they can come back and make a game out of it (yeah right). With 3 minutes to go the piglets got a ruling in their favor and had a 4th down and three at the 47 yard line, the guy who pretends he's a coach, elected to punt. Should've gone for it, it would be risky, but you're down 20-10 at that point and you need to turn things around. There's no doubt in my mind Petrino would have gone for it.
  12. Thanks folks, that gives me some places to look at.
  13. Nice fish, thanks for the report, I love catching them on jigs!
  14. Thanks RPS, I have stayed at Gaston's before on a trout fishing trip, nice place, but I'm hoping to get something more mid-lake. Found some places using Google, but it's always good to get some recommendations.
  15. I'm thinking of making an Ocotober trip to Bull. Looking for info on a place to stay near or on the lake. I would be bringing my boat, so a place that has a dock (with electricity ot re-charge batteries) or if no dock, relatively close to a public ramp (with launching dock). Also needs to be pet-friendly as I'll be bringing my dog.
  16. Yes reports are good. I have not been out on Beaver in a while, but when I do get out there, I'll leave a report.
  17. Glad to hear you got into them, I guess that fish that you caught twice is a sucker for Roadrunners!
  18. It's definitely a flawed product with the replacement refs. But as long as fans fill the stadiums and watch the games on TV, the owners have no reason to settle with the refs. But, I have to think they'll resolve this soon, imagine a Super Bowl with these replacement refs - that could be ugly.
  19. Thanks for the report, interesting reading. A tourney with 3,000 anglers, wow, lake might be a tad crowded that weekend.
  20. Pigsticker makes jigs, here's a link to their site: http://www.pigstickerbait.com/index.html
  21. Nice smallie! Thanks for the report.
  22. Yeah but you've got to spend your money wisely, if you don't, you end up having a season like Arkansas. Too bad for you Mizzou guys that you don't get to play the Razorgirls this year.
  23. Nothing like walking into your house and getting a lungful off DDT, but I guess it beats getting malaria.
  24. I've fished with several guides in the Pacific Northwest for salmon and steelhead, and the good ones are like Bill. The boat's clean and organized, the rods are rigged are ready to go, and when you get to the spot you start fishing. Nothing worse than a guide that starts off the day rigging rods and rooting around the boat looking for hooks or whatnot.
  25. Started off really slow, threw some topwaters, jigs, and squarebills and got zilch on that stuff. Wind started picking up later in the morning, so I worked windy banks with a spinner bait, got 2 doing that, one was a nice meanmouth around keeper size. Whitecaps were rolling over a couple of my go to Drop shot spots, so didn't try those spots, but on the way back to the dock I decided to graph a gravel cove mouth that I had tried a couple of times in the past but never had any luck on. Spotted some shad balls in 20-25 FOW, so got out the drop shot and had a decent bite, landing maybe 10, one nice 16" spot, the rest 10-12" fish. Broke off a good 2 lb or so fish at the boat, and had one swim off pulling drag that came unpinned so seemed to be some nicer fish in the area. All were really light biters, probably had another 10 or so that came off. Water temps 74-75. Lots of shad and minnows out there, on the banks, in the coves, in the backs of coves, around docks, and out in the deep water. Seems they are everywhere. But really saw hardly any bass chasing them.
