  1. Can't help you much with walleye or crappie, but there was an article in last weeks Benton County paper about fishing for whites. The guys in the article did very well fishing in the area south of the HWY 12 bridge and north of the hatchery pond. Whites move around so you'll have to find them on your electronics or look for surfacing fish. We got into some last week on the gravel flats north of Copper Mine and we did see some surface activity in that area this week when we were black bass fishing. It certainly is better early in the AM or in the evenings.
  2. Bill we did not see a whole lot of shad, but every once in a while we'd see them on the depth finder, a couple of the fish spit up shad, looks like they're getting lots to eat.
  3. Launched at dawn, ran into OA member Inshore and his buddy, nice to meet you! We ran up to our number 1 favorite long point, fished it hard for about an hour and caught only one K there. We pulled up and motored in the direction of Eagle Rock, near which is a series of 3 gravel points, we fished those points and found one small area about 25 feet deep where we caught in the vicinity of 20 K's, one decent LM, and 3short walleye, mostly on spoons. Once that bite slowed down, we motored back up lake and fished several spots and caught a few more fish, but couldn't find another hot spot. Most of the fish we caught later in the AM at the other spots came on drop shotted plastics. Ended up with a little over 30, mostly 12-14" K's, with a couple of keepers. Water temp is 82, down from last weeks 85. Quite a few bass fishers out there today.
  4. Thanks for the report, I haven't fished Windsor in about 3 weeks, but last time I was there I noticed the shad you mention, they were all over the place. This fall and winter should be good.
  5. No rain up there? We were thinking about TR this morning, but Weather.com had an 80% chance of rain for Kimberling City. Looks like they were wrong again (no surprise). We fished Beaver, we didn't do as well as you, but OK with a couple of dozen 10-14" spots on drop shotting finesse worms, with big fish being a 2 lb. LM. We couldn't get anything on spoons. Table Rock and Beaver are so close together, but fish different.
  6. Me and Jeb may be out there tomorrow also, probably around the Big M area, still thinking about where to go, TR, Beaver, one of the Bella Vista lakes?
  7. Great to hear, especially that you'll get your grandpas knife back.
  8. That's mainly what we've been catching, K's in the 12-15" range. Lots of fun on light tackle.
  9. Here's the link, if anyone is interested: http://www.jannsnetcraft.com/fishing-lure-spoons/351500.aspx#
  10. Thanks for the report Bill, glad to see you put your clients into some great fishing! I was on Cabelas yesterday looking at their spoons and the 1/2 oz white/char is out of stock - lots of folks must be reading your posts. Janns Netcraft carries a painted spoon blank that looks just like the Cabelas, I think they're 3 for 4.69 but you've got to add your own split ring and hook. The colors aren't the same either, dunno if they are any good but may pick up a few to check them out.
  11. Sounds more like 5 hours of eating and drinking.
  12. We saw a bunch of geese swimming in PC cove yesterday. Too many, I hope you harvest some.
  13. I have a few mater plants left and some cantalope is still coming in. Other than that things are done.
  14. That's a nice bass for this time of year.
  15. Went out in Jeb's boat this morning, launched at 0545, back on the trailer around 1100. We fished mid-lake humps, points, and deep brush piles, caught about 2 dozen black bass (mostly spots), no big ones, mainly 12" fish and a couple around the 15" mark. Drop shotting finesse worms, and Robo worms caught the most, with a few on the Cabelas spoon and I think Jeb got a couple on a c-rig. Couple of short walleye, and at the end of the morning we ran into a white bass attack and boated 8-10 nice 2 lb. whites in a short period of time, then they moved off and disappeared. It was time to go home anyway, the pleasure boat traffic was getting annoying. Not a bad day for Beaver in August, maybe the cooler weather is getting them going. When we passed the PC COE launch, saw a bunch of boats getting ready for a tourney start, anyone know what tourney that was and the results?
  16. Walleye spoon bite seems to be on, we caught a couple of sublegal eyes this morning on Beaver while bass fishing.
  17. We did have one out, but it was yellow, so no hassles (so far) over it. Been using the marker quite a bit lately, and also the sonar.
  18. Thanks for the heads up on the sale on Cabelas Real Image spoons, $1.99 is a good price. The hooks on them aren't that bad, not as good as Daichis, but not bad for a $1.99 spoon.
  19. Jeb and I launched at 0545 and fished until noon. Pretty decent day numbers wise, 30 bass, with a handful of keepers, but nothing over 2 lbs. There was a fairly good bite on the FB jig early in the 15-25 FOW range, a few also c-rigging worms. Then later in the morning the drop-shot started working for us, with a few also coming on the c-rig. A couple on spoons. No walleyes - not that I'm complaining Saw the State Patrol boat out there today, center console Donzi with twin 225 Mercs. Would have loved to have that boat back when I fished saltwater.
  20. It is sad indeed, I don't think I've seen this many drownings in a year on Beaver, but I've only been here 5 years.
  21. Olive/Orange makes sense, that was a great jig color early this summer.
  22. If it's top secret, I understand, but if not - what are your pet colors?
  23. Yep, it's 10.
  24. AR Gazette reported today that 7 adult and 3 calf elk in MO have died recently from the effects of heat and drought.
  25. I just heard something interesting today, maybe you guys know this, but a gold medal winner gets $25,000, silver $10,000, and bronze $5,000. US swim team members get $75,000 for a gold in addition to the $25K. That guy Phelps made some pretty good money. Not that I have a problem with it, but it's kind of an eye opener.
