  1. And have a Bella Vista Lakes forum also
  2. Maybe you could have state forums, one for Arkansas, Oklahoma, etc. Then under Arkansas you could have sub forums for cold water fish (trout) and warm water fish. Or you could have rivers and lakes forums under the state headings. No matter how you break it up. I would like to see other AR lakes like Greeson, Ouchita, Dardenelle, just to name a few. Some of the Eastern OK lakes also. It would help if you got people that fish those lakes to post reports. I don't know what the best way to do that would be. Maybe go out on some of the other boards like Crappie.com and do some recruiting. Crappie.com has a states forum, you might want to take a look at if you haven't already.
  3. There's a good article on SWEPCO in today's NWA Democrat Gazette. The bios have been out electro fishing it, bottom line is there are good numbers of healthy bass in that lake. They are speculating that the reason the fishing has been slow is that there's so much forage in the lake that the well fed bass don't want to get off their fat, lazy butts to chase lures.
  4. How many for $5.00?

    Iced In

Glad to hear the power is coming on for folks. Can't wait for spring time fishing and wam weather.
  6. Got home early this AM from a business trip to Charleston SC. Left Atlanta at 10 PM, the plane got to NW AR about 11 PM and could not land because of Fog/ice, so we circled for a while and then went on to Tulsa. When we got to Tulsa they put us on a bus and we made it to NW AR at 0230 AM. My vehicle had been sitting at the airport. probably had about 3 inches of ice on it, so I had fun knocking all that off. Finally got home about 0330. Lots of dark areas out there with no power. Lots of limbs/trees down. Definitely a lot more ice in the area south of the airport and in the Springdale area than there is here in Bella Vista.
  7. What is a riggen stix? Never heard that term before.
  8. Dang that thing is a bruiser!
  9. Maybe when the whites are running in the Indian creek area we can have a get together and go after them. I am afflicted with that thing called work so it would have to be a weekend day.
  10. I had my best luck trolling for crappie, after the spawn, in the mid lake area around Monte Ne cove.
  11. I trie for crappie last spring in the coves around Indian creek, fished minnows around the brush, only picked up 2. Water was way up, maybe that had an effect on them. I'll have to try it again this spring.
  12. Sounds like the meth heads are branching out into a new line of business.
  13. I went up the Indian creek cove last spring, the water was up so I could not ge back in all the way, but I did not see a creek back there, do the whites hang out in the cove in front of the creek before moving up and I assume spawning in the creek?
  14. I fished it mainly for crappie last summer trolling crankbaits, I would like to try the whites this spring, what do you use for them when they are in the back of Indian creek?
  15. They seem to be everywhere now, I work out of my house and a cuple of days ago looked out the window and saw a big bird cruising by, I see a lot of Turkey Vultures around here which at first I thought it was, but it turned out to be Mr. Baldy. First one I have seen near my house. Then yesterday I am just across the line into Missouri on HWY 71 filling up with gas, notice a big bird circling around high in the sky, yep you guessed it, another Eagle.
  16. This is good for a laugh.. http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.p...toryId=99249669
  17. There was an article in the Outdoors section of the Bentonville Morning News about SWEPCO, basically guides, ADGF lake bio, and locals are saying the fishing is slow this year for unknown reasons. Maybe it's time to go back to catch and release for all bass. One thing everyone is agreeing is that the days of skiiny bass are over, the few bass that are being caught are fat and healthy.
  18. The new ramp is a good one, it's wide enough for 2 rigs at a time. There was a small pile of dirt that had collapsed onto the ramp from the cut on the land side, which basically blocked enough of the ramp that only one rig at a time could use it. There's also a paved parking lot with somewhat limited space, if you go on the weekend the lot may be full unless you get there early. That being said it's a much improved situation from what it used to be.
  19. It may be too far for you to drive, but SWEPCO lake near Gentry AR, in the northwest corner of the state west of Bentonville, has a good population of eagles during the winter. There's even an "eagle viewing trail" there. Should be some good photo opps.
  20. Thanks rps, good info for the archives.
  21. I also saw my 401K get taken to the woodshed - and I agree with all, now is the time to buy. I also believe, for what it's worth, that we will see a rally this year. Good luck to all!
  22. If anyone is interested, I just got an email from Cabelas, their Walleye runner lures are on sale for $1.88. Anyone have any color recomendations?
  23. Does the Precision Trolling book have charts for Bandit crankbaits? That's what I use trolling for crappie on Beaver, and they do pick up the occaisional walleye. I'm also looking to get a boat I can mount a small kicker motor on in addition to the main motor. I'm also considering a deep V layout in the 16-17 foot range. Anyone have any recommendations?
  24. I finally made it out to SWEPCO, me and my fishing buddy Vince managed only 2 bass in 4 hours of fishing. We were using Finesse worms. Talked to a couple of other bass fishers and they were skunked, did talk to one boat that claimed to have caught 6 on crankbaits early in the AM. The two bass we caught were fat, so maybe the days of lots of skinny bass are over.
