  1. I would like to hear how you do around Eagle Rock, that's a place that is within a reasonable distance from where I live, one of these days I plan to get over there and try that area.
  2. Look at the bright side, none of those knuckleheads will be out on the lake catching our fish, leaving more for us!
  3. Very cool underwater pics of that brownie also, what make of camera did you use for those pics?

  5. Finally had a good morning on one of the smaller lakes, blue/black jig with blue/black trailer. They were off the banks in 10-20 feet of water. No biguns but some nice chunks.
  6. Weird how some nights they bite and others they don't. But it's still good to get out!
  7. Just stepped outside for about 10 minutes, saw 3 meteors in that time, no really spectacular ones unfortunately. Good viewing conditions, no moon, clear sky. Best viewing is to the north.
  8. I got out before dawn a couple of mornings last week, saw a few meteors, but I was just reading that the peak viewing will be early AM tomorrow. So if you're out night fishing, keep an eye on the sky.
  9. Fun game last night, a Brouhaha broke out, highlighted by 'Kung-Fu' Cueto kicking at any Cards within reach, I hope the guy gets a massive fine and a long suspension. Reds looked like they could not deal with the pressure of a big game.
  10. You've probably heard about the flight attendant who got in a confrontation with a passenger, then bolted by deploying the escape chute. As a frequent flyer I can't tell you the number of times I've heard the pilots and flight attendants announce over the intercom that the flight attendants primary mission is the safety and comfort of the passengers. This paticular flight attendant left his post, so to speak, leaving his passengers and other flight attendants to deal with this irate passenger. I don't see anything heroic about it at all. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/21134540/vp/38655148#38655148
  11. Wow! Very nice! Good on you for releasing it.
  12. Tequila!
  13. Just curious if anyone is getting out during daylight hours and if so, are you having any luck? Haven't been to Beaver myself in a month at least, thinking about going, but would like to hear if anyone is doing anything with the black bass.
  14. Sorry to see the reports end, I keep saying I will make it up there to fish, just haven't done it yet. Seems like school is starting early this year, I'm surprised they don't wait until after Labor Day.
  15. I was out before daylight last week a couple of mornings, had the backlight turned on on the depthfinder, which attracted bugs, which brought in a few bats, which were sometimes flying into my line, and it does feel like a bite, but I could see the bats so I knew what it was. Had one fly into the garage one morning as I was hooking up the boat, had to chase it out with a broom.
  16. Gotta like those blue/black jigs, had good luck on them this year myself. Heckuva bass, and a gnarly looking turtle. Ozark you're probably the only person I've heard of that jug fishes and lets the cats go. Nothing wrong with that, but not something I've seen people do, usually it's the frying pan for those jug fish!
  17. Pee Wee at Sturgis? Doesn't seem right, but yet he seems do be doing well there. Next stop Branson? http://tv.msn.com/tv/article.aspx?news=535004&GT1=28103
  18. Nice fish! What did you get it on?
  19. Meeting is in Rogers at the Beaver Lake Aviation bldg. on HWY 62 in Rogers. The paper does not state when it starts, but in the past I believe it is at 7 PM. August 10.
  20. Very nice! Congrats!
  21. Thanks for the info BW, I plan on chasing the cats once the weather gets a little more reasonable, I like September and October on Grand for blues. I use fresh shad myself, but I slow troll them on the bottom on the flats. Pretty neat catching one on a surface lure, can't say I've ever done that!
  22. Looks like they are 89.99 in the Bargain Cave. Tackle Warehouse also has them on sale for a little less. (free shipping at TW on orders over $50). Don't have one myself, but you can get some opinions if you do a search on e21 Carrot Stix. They must be coming out with a new model as these rods are on sale at quite a few places.
  23. Yep I think that next year all those pesky 16-17 inch eyes are going to be keepers. A nice bonus fish when you're out bass fishing, something you can take home for the frying pan.
  24. Correction, 3/4 oz jig not 7/8.
  25. I have not done any night fishing in a while, I used to fish nights when I lived on the east coast, used to fish black jitterbugs and had some pretty good nights with them. Well I launched at 0330 this morning on one of the local lakes, started out c-rigging a black Zoom Ol' Monster, fished it for forty five minutes with out a bite, so I switched to a 7/8 Black/Blue Jewell football jig and that was the ticket. Caught this guy, about 21 inches, according to the online weight/girth calculator is 4.5-5 lbs. Lost another one at the boat which looked to be a little bigger, and caught this 2.5 lb fish and and another one about a pound. Had about an hour of good action, then it started getting light and they shut down, fished for another hour without a bite. I think I'll try and get out a little earlier tomorrow. Sleep is over rated right? The best part of all this is when you're crawling that jig along the bottom, can't see a thing, it's all feel, and the you feel that THUMP-THUMP, man you can't beat that.
