What kind of camera do you use? I like the digital process, you can have your black and white, your color print, and other effects without having to shoot with multiple films or lenses.

Most of the characters he portrayed are of low intelligence so he does not really have to act there! And as far as helping people suffer, I think that is why he makes movies in the first place, many suffer till its over. When he babbles his nonsense trying to point out his views on a subject, his IQ really shows. Here is a site of Sean Penn Quotes for your enjoyment. My fav. Sean Penn at Brainy Quotes In between, I go broke because I seem to do movies where you're not paid a lot as an actor. Sean Penn But he did hit Madonna back in the day when she was hot, so +1 for that.

At least Chuck Norris does not act, his Martial Arts skills are real.

Bush?? He was one of the least environmentally friendly Presidents according to his opponents. He opened up alot of areas for mining and drilling, he loosened the endangered species act, and I think he weakened the powers of the EPA. BTW, I think there are groups out there that are trying to keep you from taking a crap outside, it is pollution also. Anyhow, I don't know what everyone is getting riled up about, it is a non issue from what I see. Just because Cabela's sends out a blast email to all of the customers to respond to an EPA site with their opinions. No laws or restrictions have been put in place. It is only a consideration. Now if you want to get riled about something, how about less government intervention on our lives based upon findings by little fringe groups like the Center for Biological Diversity.

I am pretty sure Stupidity and Starvation was responsible for his death. Sean Penn glorified it with a movie. Now if Sean Penn could glorify himself with a movie about his life with Madonna we could all have a good retch and spew.

The Center for Biological Diversity, a fringe group, is the one pushing the ban, which included lead ammo, based on their observation of the matter. Here is their story about the lead, but no real scientific data shown that I could find on their web. It does seem to be about waterfowl picking up pieces of lead weight for grindage, but what about jigs and lead weighted flies? We went down this road years ago and lead alternatives became available. I think lead weight was even banned on some waters, so what is new? Link from the Center of Biological Diversity web EPA Denies Petition to Protect Wildlife From Toxic Lead-based Ammunition WASHINGTON— Conservation groups expressed dismay today after a decision by the Environmental Protection Agency to deny a petition to ban toxic lead bullets and shot that commonly kill and harm bald eagles, trumpeter swans, endangered California condors and other wildlife. An estimated 10 million to 20 million birds and other animals die each year from lead poisoning in the United States. “The EPA had ample evidence that lead bullets and shot have a devastating effect on America’s wildlife, yet has refused to do anything about it. It’s disappointing to see this country’s top environmental agency simply walk away from the preventable poisoning of birds and other wildlife,” said Darin Schroeder, Vice President for Conservation Advocacy at American Bird Conservancy. On Aug. 3, American Bird Conservancy, Center for Biological Diversity, Association of Avian Veterinarians, Public Employees for Environmental Responsibility, and the hunters’ group Project Gutpile petitioned the EPA to ban lead in bullets and shot for hunting, as well as fishing tackle. The petition referenced nearly 500 peer-reviewed scientific papers illustrating the widespread dangers of lead ammunition and fishing tackle. While the EPA is still considering the petition’s request for the regulation of lead fishing tackle, it denied the petition’s request regarding lead ammunition on the grounds that the Toxic Substances Control Act contains a specific exemption for lead ammunition. “We strongly believe that the EPA has the clear authority and duty to regulate this very harmful and toxic substance as used in bullets and shot, despite the so-called exemption for lead ammunition that is written into TSCA. We had hoped they would take that responsibility seriously but we remain committed to making sure toxic lead is removed from the environment and we’ll redouble our efforts to see that through,” said Adam Keats, senior counsel for the Center for Biological Diversity. Lead is an extremely toxic substance that is dangerous to people and wildlife even at low levels. Exposure can cause a range of health effects, from acute poisoning and death to long-term problems such as reduced reproduction, inhibition of growth and damage to neurological development. Animals are poisoined when they scavenge on carcasses shot and contaminated with lead bullet fragments, or pick up and eat spent lead-shot pellets or lost fishing weights, mistaking them for food or grit. Some animals die a painful death from lead poisoning while others suffer for years from its debilitating effects.

It is "junk TV". And look what it caused. I was not being harsh, I merely pointed out that if he had chosen to imitate a different show character, he would probably be alive today with only a sore butt. But Darwin ruled on this one and another is out of the gene pool.

Man Dies Trying to be a Survivorman. This happened back in May, but Field and Stream just had a big article on it. Seems like this guy took off into the woods with an ax and light clothing after getting pumped up by an episode of Survivorman. Now I find a little entertainment value in shows like that, I always wait for them to really screw up and bleed on TV for the most part to show what they are doing is real and not staged. But, it is what it is, a TV show, not reality. They have a support staff with a hot meal and a shower close by. Seems like this kid, Richard Code, forgot his film crew. Poor guy. He should have watched "Jackass" and had someone light bottle rockets out of his butt instead or put a fart mask on him. I have always been amazed at the followings of the "Reality" shows, I have considered them a waste of time for the most part. The WWW has tons more useful info on it.

What do peacocks and mohawks have in common?? Now if you only half screwed a woman with a mullet, you may get a mohawk!

For The Ultimate Minimalist, Altoids Tin Grill....
jdmidwest replied to jdmidwest's topic in General Chat
Notice the little grilles off of computer fans, someone sit around an office bored to death this week. -
Just in time for the last BBQ weekend of the season, Lifehacker brings out the ultimate Altoids Can Grill, powered by a single charcoal briquette. Ok, I am bored and spending quality time with the family instead of out at some crowded campground. Altoids Grill

There is a nice smooth rock in the middle of one of those sections I used to use as a lounger to sip cold beer on a hot summer afternoon. The water has carved it out just right. Then someone had to make it public. Did you see any collared lizards there?

Last time I needed cell service at the park, we ended up almost to Salem to get a signal. It worked out well, my buddy was trying to get an extra night out and his wife shot him down. We were already 20 minutes closer to home. Verizon used to work at the lower end of the park and the hill at Baptist Access back in the analog days with the bag phone. With digital and ATT it has been nice and quiet for a long time.

The feathers turkey, quail, and fur from a deer, squirrel or rabbit taken with a valid hunting license for the correct species can be sold to a licensed buyer, not the meat. The dove is a federal migratory bird and brings up other issues, but I can't say I have ever thought of a use for dove feathers other than maybe a soft hackle. Ducks and geese are federal birds also. I thought the idea was to swap also, I don't think there would be a problem other than the dove.

You have to have a migratory stamp to hunt them.

I have seen the housing, most were built by the Conservation Corps during the depression. And it is small compared to most double wide trailers. Go up and take a look at it the next time you visit a park, there is usually a big sign on the road pointing to it when you drive thru. State Parks are open year round and there is usually only 1 Park Ranger per State Park so they are probably on "call" more than most jobs. MDC covers game violations, they are not there to patrol State Parks, it is a whole different job. There is usually only 1 MDC agent assigned to most counties, a certain county may have several Park Rangers depending on how many State Parks are in that county. If you are so concerned about saving taxpayer dollars, get out and vote in Nov. and stop the waste in Government.

Spring River Weekend, And Some Dredging.
jdmidwest replied to jdmidwest's topic in Spring River (Mo/Ar)
I have always wanted to time travel, go back and see what things were like before man screwed it up. But I want to do it with today's technology and luxuries..... I have seen pics of it with the dams and all of the hillsides stripped of timber back in the early 1900's and the old mills, it actually is better now than then. Stop by the visitor center in Mammoth and look at some of the old pics and tour the park. There was an action of the land this summer and I think lots were going for around 90k. From the looks of the stream, somebody was paying dearly to manipulate the stream for some reason or another. -
Spring River Weekend, And Some Dredging.

Riverside Resort rents kayaks, canoes, and rafts. If I was renting, I would choose the canoe as the kayaks are the simple sit on tops that are not made for fishing. There is a float camp that is renting Tarpon 100 and 120 which are great fishing Kayaks but I can't remember which one it was. As far as cold, winter is the best time. I have fished Lassiters in a blinding snow storm about 10 years back and caught fish. -
That is a good point. There was a time I used to brag about my "Home Waters" and post most of my trips on them, now I tend to be more discreet. But, I have several streams that I fish only when invited by friends that fish them as their "Home Waters". I don't post about those, I feel like I am a guest on their streams and I have to travel to fish them. I have not been on the streams with our one of them present in the boat with me. And they have done the same with me also. Eleven Point was one of those streams, for a long time I did not take some of my buddies I fish with to it or even suggest it, it was a stream that I fished with a close friend that showed me the stream or by myself only. But that was for different reasons, personal only. We still try to squeeze in at least one trip a year on it together. The last few have been spent with the sons and grandsons of the ones that used to fish it with me.

Not to mention, the Dove is a Federal Bird.
