  1. Downloaded and opened fine, let me know which one you need and I will post it here tonight.
  2. Spinfishing is good with rooster tails, jigs, rapalas, and crawdad crankbaits. Flies are poppers, streamers, big nymphs, and jigs. The time of the year and depth of the stream will determine which ones to use. They are alot of fun on a fly rod. Fish weed beds, rocky bottoms, pools below riffles.
  3. Don Which model camera do you have, A20, M20 or W20. I clicked the links for all three of the pc connection manuals and they are downloading to my computer. I only have dialup so it will be a while. Sounds like you may have other issues.
  4. Pentax connection manual????? I assume that you received a connection cable or the camera uses SD memory. You should be able to connect it to an XP computer or take the memory card out and insert it in a card reader to get the pics of the computer. The manual is on Pentax website for point and shoot camera Scroll down to the M20 or the A20 part, whichever you have. http://www.pentaximaging.com/customer_care...ure/show_manual
  5. Looks good, even pretty quick on dial up. The home page stills says its a demo site that sales are disabled. May want to update it if you are live now.
  6. I agree with some of the others, success is simply getting out and enjoying the outdoors with friends and family or a day alone floating a stream. Fish are just the icing on the cake. Things are a little simplier out in the woods or on the stream.
  7. Well thats what happened on the Current River and Jack's Fork this summer. Check out this thread on another portion of OAF. http://ozarkanglers.com/forums/index.php?s...ic=5661&hl=
  8. Yep, it kinda got boring after everyone got off subject........
  9. Maybe the National Park Service needs to get involved with it and limit the amount of people on the lake or the number of beers in the coolers. I am sure that will solve the problems on the lower lake. Maybe a 10 hp limit on the lake just for kicks......
  10. Sounds like I made the right decision and went to the gunshow instead. I hate fishing up there when there is a crowd like that and a contest going on. I saved my hard earned gas money for a better weekend.
  11. Thanks for mentioning Harry Boyd's name, I have been looking for him since I met him in 2001 during the Conclave. He camped next to me at Quarry Park. We talked about the Bamboo all night and I forgot his name. I was on the river all the next day and did not make his seminar. That night, his camper was gone and all I could remember was he was from Louisiana and he made beautiful bamboo. I have gone to his website and found his contact info. I am going to have to make the Sowbug next year, sounds like a good time.
  12. Missouri has the navigable stream policy also, but it gets tested every year. Since I have bought the Kayaks, most every piece of flowing water in the state is a navigable stream. My previous mode of river travel was the canoe. We have problems with landowners cutting trees across the rivers to discourage floaters and farmers fencing across rivers with barbed wire for cattle. It is illegal to do so here but it still happens, and these are streams classified as rivers on the map. Another thing is the loss of access points along the streams I float. People have been buying up land on both sides of a river and then taking over the maint. of the county road that passes over it making the bridge and the land around it private property. Fortunately the MDC has keep up with them and has opened accesses to the rivers elsewhere.
  13. Thanks, bought an older Pentax ist DS on Ebay for a steal. Same features as the k100 without the shake reduction. Since they are trying to outlaw drinking on the Current and Jacks Fork, I won't need it any way! LOL Or maybe this drunken itdiot will, dam whiskey shakes. Did not know that the K10 was water and dust resistant, need to set the sights on Ebay for that one.
  14. If a man who drinks a few beers while enjoying a float makes me a party idiot, then I am. People drink to the excess and don't cause problems all the time at bars, picnics, bonfires, tailgate parties, and county fairs. It is getting to the point that the only place a man can have a beer is at home. While I am fishing it is usually no alcohol involved anyway. And I don't know where everyone is from, but I have access to miles and miles of rivers and streams in southeast MO Ozarks that are clear and cool and full of fish. They don't have any canoes on them for the most parts and you can usually go all day on the weekend without running into anyone. They most definitely do not have jet boats that you have to worry about swamping you in a riffle either like Current, Jacks Fork, 11PT, or Meramac. If I wanted EXCLUSIVE access to a river or a park on a weekend, I personally would not want to see a soul around except for friends or family. Are we just getting too old to remember what it was like to be young? I know I am past the target crowd of 20-30 age group.
  15. The glass part was taken care of a while back in Arkansas, now all I see at the bottom of the river are beer cans and Smirnoff bottles. Much better than the first time I floated it the week after July 4, 1987. It was the trashiest river I had ever been on back then, trash everywhere. The AG&F used to complain about cleaning up the fire pits at the Bayou Access with backhoes and dump truck. Finally, they just closed it to camping to solve that. Mo. is starting on the glass part now but the litter has been under control for the most part. The problem is, they are trying to regulate people just having a little fun on the weekend with the way they are doing it. I don't have a problem with it. I have always been amazed how few accidents occur with the drinking. You hear about drownings on the lakes but never on the rivers much. I photographed for an hour the spills at one bad bend last summer on the canoes tipping over, but nobody was hurt. If you have ever been to Party Cove on many of the lakes you will have seen worse drinking and nudity and sex acts. The only difference is they are the more affluent in the high class boats, not rentals. I have enough common sense to avoid the crowds when I want to fish or take the family on an outing. There are miles of floatable streams in MO. I choose to float the Jacks Fork or the Current River on the weekends for a good time, not for a good fishing trip or a family get together with the kids. Just another freedom taken away..........
  16. They will enforce it. We floated Alley Spring to Eminence last July on a Sat. There were at least 2 Park Rangers checking coolers at the put in for glass bottles and were making people trash them if found. Then, halfway down, 2 agents stepped out of the woods and busted some underage drinkers and the guy that give them the beer.
  17. What is going to happen is the drunks will abandon the NPS rivers and go back to other streams. That will probably be the ones I like to fish on the weekends that used to get floated alot years ago. I always floated the Jacks Fork and the Current River when I wanted titties and beer and fishing was just an excuse. Oh well, theres always Spring River in Ark......
  18. Thats interesting to know about the cordura covers, mine have been sliced up pretty good on the rocks of the Spring River. There are several ledge waterfalls to go over and cut them pretty good. I think I will contact Creek Company about it also. Thanks.
  19. I will probably drive up Sat. morning and camp that night. Don't know for sure yet.
  20. No problems at all. The only thing I would change would be go to solid PVC pontoons instead of the cordura covered ones. I think there would be less drag while rowing.
  21. Pontoons are great fishing platforms for flowing waters. You have to remember that they are wider than a kayak or canoe in tight spots. Very stable, sit up higher for sight fishing, you can put your feet down in the shallows to stop and fish. I use an 8' by Creek Company, around $300. The pontoons do create alot of drag so they are hard to row in still water and back upstream. I use a kayak for the most part now.
  22. Spring River in AR? That is where we normally have a guys weekend at and the fishing is always good. Throw in a float trip from one of the local outfitters for a memorable experience. Some campgrounds have cabins and the towns of Hardy and Mammoth Springs have motels. Should find something to fit a budget and get a good bang for the buck. Is warmwater fishing out of the question?
  23. Alright everyone, any personal opinions on the Canon Rebel XTi or the Pentax K100D cameras? I have used a Canon D30 for years in our outdoor sports business but have not personally owned one. I have a Pentax 35 mm SLR and several lenses and filters of my own from before autofocus days. I am going to upgrade from my Minolta Z10 digital and looking for any advice. Both cameras are great and are backwards compatible with 35 mm lenses. Canon takes great pics but can be kinda finicky and requires costly trips back to home every once in a while. My Pentax has never been back and takes better pics than I am ususally capable of. Any suggestions???
  24. Cheaper than Dirt has a good deal on flares. Then your buddies can fish too..
  25. Good question, better check with a local a local warden on that one or drop an email to the MDC Website. I would tend to think not in an area that is "Fly Only", single hooks. Missouri laws state that a fly is a "Single point hook" and was written to prohibit trebles in these areas. The definitions for the fly area mentions "Flies" several times and that could be construed to mean multiple flies like a dropper rig. Now I bring up the question of tandem flies like streamers tied on a double hook arrangement, essentially a dropper rig tied short? Here are the excerpts from the Missouri codebook this year. 3 CSR 10-12.150 Fishing, Trout Parks PURPOSE: This rule establishes methods, seasons, and limits for fishing within Trout Park streams under management agreement with the department.
