Fcc Unveiling Sweeping National Broadband Plan
jdmidwest replied to jdmidwest's topic in General Chat
The new plan calls for TV stations to give up the Over the Air frequencies for the Broadband. This means your antenna will be worthless and you will have to subscribe to cable or satellite. Read the article! -
FCC unveiling sweeping national broadband plan this week. I was hoping it would speed up my internet since AT&T has failed to. Looks like it may be a more sinister plan to control the communications industry. First, they are trying to get TV stations to give up their over the air FREE digital broadcasts and leave us with only cable or satellite signals. We lost alot last year when the Analog signals were terminated. My radio I use when the power is out to receive local TV News and Reports is useless now. And it would mean that Americans would be at the mercy of the pay for signal cable and satellite companies to receive what is now considered a staple in American households. When I grew up, we watched all of our TV for free, how much do you pay for the crap now? What is next, RADIO? Second, if the government controls the only communication means, will we ever have any choice on what we want to watch? FCC Plan for Broadband

I called the story about the Runaway Prius BS from the start and FOX news stated it a few days before the rest of the Liberal Media reported that there was nothing wrong with the car. Looks like Conservative was Right on this matter.

Here is the BS, seems like it may be a Balloon Boy after all. Fox News Story

You forget the caption "While in Mo. yesterday, BHO is caught on the Bennett Springs Trout Cam".

Stand down, it was a hoax. The following is a story from the editor of ESPN, the story was an opinion by a writer with no actual facts for the most part. WE ARE SAFE, for now! ESPN states that it was a hoax.

Silly me, I almost missed this one but someone did point out that it was a bailout, followed by another bailout, then bankruptcy and government takeover with the help of the unions. We own a part of the Chevrolet and Chrysler companies now. The old companies and their stocks are gone. They wrote off most of the debt from the bailout in the bankruptcy that will never be repaid to the US taxpayers. If they repay the government part in the allotted time frame, they will become private companies again. No offense, but the quality part is my opinion based on a year of ownership of their product compared to other products I have owned. My cost of ownership on the 4 runner is considerably less than what it was on my Chevy Blazers.

TADA! A story from the Un-Associated Press on the matter. 8 complaints in 08, 84 in 09, 272 in first 10 weeks of 2010, for speed control problems after the news made it a big public deal. The MEDIA plays a big role in how the public reacts! Spike in Prius Complaints may not be that big of a deal!

Does anyone remember how the foreign cars gained a foothold in the US in the first place. It happened in the Carter Admin when we had fuel shortages and gas skyrocketed to over a dollar a gallon. American cars were getting 12-15 mpg, foreign jobs 30. And the American Car Manufacturers helped them out. Ford imported Mazda 4 cylinder engines, Chrysler had Mitsubishi, and Chevrolet had Izuzu to gain them gas mileage so they could sell US cars. American car manufacturers took the lighter engines and started making cars that competed with the rivals. Eventually, most foreign makes began to be made in the USA and American cars began to be made out of outsourced parts and assembly to plants in Mexico and Canada. So who's American made anymore? I have owned a Chevy truck assenbled in Canada with parts from Mexico. I really try to buy American Made Products if there are any offered when I need to purchase. Trouble is, they are few and far between.

What's wrong with a little good ole fashion "fear mongering"? That is what they are doing with the Health Care crap. Look how the gun and ammo industry flourished last year with a little stirring. It was the best year since 94 when they actually banned alot of guns. It is only fair that Sportfishing gets a turn this year. Besides, all of the increased sales by the fear mongering generates sales tax income for the MDC and DNR to help them meet their budgets. It generates jobs and helps people make a living. I am just glad I still have my guns to protect my flyrods when the day comes........

I was thinking more of the bubble boy last summer that got all of the news attention. It turned out to be a hoax. Americans make most of the Toyota's, the plants went into locations where the jobs they created were above the local pay scale, and they helped the economy. The did not take a handout like Chrysler and Chevrolet to pay for their lowsy business practices. And they make a very high quality auto that works. I had a little Prius sneak up on me the other day in the parking lot at Lowes, dang electric cars. They need to add a noisemaker to wheels or something.

Now we really know what the camera at Bennett is for!

The Obama administration will accept no more public input for a federal strategy that could prohibit U.S. citizens from fishing the nation’s oceans, coastal areas, Great Lakes, and even inland waters. Seems like only NOAA and the Green'ys will have a say in future fishing regulations. It will be by issued Executive Order, no voting or public input. And I thought guns would go first! Another shot at Toyota today, the runaway Prius. Who would have thought one of those little rice burners would get above 70? I have not been able to figure out how someone could let a car get out of control like that. Is the shift knob broke too? Reach down and pull the rug out of the accelerator? It is not like that had instant acceleration like a rocket, probably does zero to 60 in 3 minutes or more. Plenty of time to react. I think there is more to the story than the media is letting out. I have owned my 99 4 runner for over a year and will have a hard time buying another Chevy. It is a good running, good driving, good riding machine and has over 210k on it. No leaks, 11 yr/o and still tight inside and out. No rattles or wind noises. It does better off road than any Blazer I owned. It has good traction and braking. Better towing capacity and gas mileage.

Access is in town, Lasseters across from the motel in town, Cold Springs (boat only), Dam 3, Bayou, Riverside, Many Islands, Spring River Oaks. The last 3 are private and require a daily fee to access. Best wading is at Lasseters or Bayou. Dam 3 is good too. Here is a Trails.com map with Topo detail. Trails.com map

I heard that today also, I thought he would attack gun ownership first, not go after the fishermen. Here is another article on the matter. Obama Admin Anti Outdoors

Sitting here sipping a little wine, gnawing on a BBQ'd Rib Bone with some grilled veggies, watching 1,000 Ways to Die on Spike. What a way to spend a Sunday afternoon. Looking forward to Undercover Boss. Anyone had a chance to catch this show? It is a sure time waster. What kind of goofy stuff will they come up with next?

Was just browsing the site as I do every week and thought I would bring it up on here again. It has changed this year, for the better. More content and articles. This week has great articles on Wet Fly fishing, a neat Bullfrog Slider Fly, and many more. Jump over and check them out. http://flyanglersonline.com/

Follow the link, it shows plans and specs, bidders list, and winning bids for all MDC projects last year. I thought it was a little pricey myself, of course it was a prevailing wage state job.

Pull your panties out of a wad there guy, Trout taste like Asian Carp and are as boney as a gigged sucker. Catch and release is fun though, don't have to drag them around on a stringer and trash the stream with guts. Where can you go today that you are not being filmed? Game cameras in the woods, cameras in MDC parking lots to deter vandals, etc. It is just a part of modern life, technology has gotten cheap and people are amused by it.

Truth be known, it may save a few jobs and catch a few poachers. One person watching several cams for violations. Of course, nobody has elaborated as to the location and number of the cams. It may be a way to monitor the hatchery. Lack of info leads to speculation. Is this a live web cam so we can all watch?
-
Since I catch and release, the gut station is wasted on me. But being able to see the condition of a stream before I leave on a 4 hour journey, handy. The live web cam costs a few hundred bucks, the gut station, several 100 thousands. $165,857.04 to be exact at the Montauk location, if it came in as bid without any change orders. MDC Constrution Contracts Scroll down to 3-18-2009 to see bid.

I have been around beagles, we own 3 currently. One is a 3 y/o male that we took in and tamed down. He will run a rabbit and not bark. We also have a pair of males born last summer, they will bark trail but have yet to run one. We are fencing in a area to keep a few rabbits to play with the pups. They are not pets, they are hunting dogs. My point, the owner did not have control of his animal, owners fault. Dog was running deer, could have been trained to do so, owners fault.
