Our Attorney General, Jay Nixon is going after some of them. As of today gas ranges from $3.69 to $3.99 in the same town. There are reports that 10 refineries or rigs received some damage from Ike out of 388 facilities in the area. I think that is MINOR. But it seems like the oil companies are doing a little profit taking based on the fears of others.

I usually chop down the big stuff and pile in one corner and burn. Higher temps caused by fire can sterilize the natural bacteria in soil and kill it so I do it in an isolated area. I then spread ashes back over the soil as they contain the minerals leached out into the plants. I usually gather leaves and till them in to rot till spring. During the winter I spread ashes from the fireplace out over the garden also. I like the idea of a cover crop. I have also covered with straw and tilled into it in the spring. You can also plant turnips for wildlife and people food and have a good cover crop.

Now thru the winter is my favorite time down there. It has been less crowded than many of the other rivers lately though. Where is the Summer Cottage? When we go down we either stay at Motel 60 in Winona or Alton Motel during the cooler months.

The lower access (Bayou Access) is the area just upstream from Riverside. The waterfalls and the long hole along the bluff are at the bottom of it. The riffle above the long bluff hole is where AF&G maintains an access and stocks it weekly, you access it from a county road on the other side or just walk upstream from Riverside at the upper end of the campground. Lassiters is in town across from the motel on the hill. This is wade in area for the most part and is accessible by going thru town to the other side. Dam 3 is by the hatchery and has an island. This is where the canoes launch from. You can walk down tracks from here to hit some holes also.

How much rain did you get over there. The gauge here only measured 1/2 " but it has a hard time with sideways rain. We had wind gusts to 66 mph. but no flooding. Trees damaged and power out, schools closed today for no power.

A 24" length limit should both insure that there will be alot of fish to catch and some of them should get a chance to breed and produce. It would be hard for them to breed due to all of the shuffling around on the redds and inconsistant water flows during the spawning season. Why would you want poachers to go to jail where we have to spend our tax dollars feeding and housing them? Fine them heavy and take their equipment away. Make them do community service like clean up the stream. As far as the illegals, most of them carry an Obama for President sign, but McCain likes to keep them busy in his yard, so if McCain gets elected, poaching will go down! Fishing and politics all in one.

What a weekend. Left out at 2:30 AM Sat. morning to meet up with a friend to do a little hunting. Made it to the lake after the wind started picking up. Sit thru a nice sunrise and listened to the squeals of many wood ducks on the lake. We had several buzz the decoys and a few drop in. About 20 minutes after shooting hours, a flock of 14 teal started working and we had a little fun. They buzzed the dekes several times and finally committed. We managed to take two. My gun got caught up on the boat camo and I did not get a good shot. Oh well, first trip of the season. We sit around till 9:00 and did not have anything else so we pulled out. Spent the rest of the day at Yard Sales and Antiques, wind was really bad and clouds kept rolling thru all day. We were wanting to float and fish, but I figured as unsettled as it was it would not be very good. I really wanted to go see Al's friend, Big River, but when we crossed the Hwy 8 bridge and saw cattle standing in the water, we declined the float. Been there, done that, cow poop and turned off fish. Later, we took the boat out on one of the lakes at Terre Du Lac and cruised around till dark. We anchored off a point and started Catfishing. There were lots of bites but the anchors and wind kept the lines slack. My buddy managed to catch a nice one and all was well with the world. After 10, the wind started kicking up and we decided to call it a night. The almost full moon was still out and clouds were just starting to come in. This morning was a different story. The lake had whitecaps on it and really blowing. Several inches of rain fell and when I crossed Big River on Hwy 21 at Bootleg, the river was muddy and big. Trees were down all over. I called home and power had been out since 6:30 am. Going thru Fredricktown at 4:00, I learned that power had just been restored there. Came home and dragged out the camping gear to cook a little supper. Lights just came on now at 7:41. Its flickering and don't know how long it will last.

Spring River can be like that, and the fish have been small the last few years for some reason. Did you try Lasseters or did you stay at Riverside the whole time? I am booked for the last weekend of Sept. down there. This weekend, did not matter much where you went.

Come on, lets have some fun.. Rhymes with Bagosh?? Sounds like Bloa?itch? I'm feeling bad tonight, its Duck Season. My cold front is heading north tonight.

I really can't say on here what friends from IL call him. Read between the lines.

Going out in the morning and chasing teal. Anybody been out yet. I have a friend that has been watching a few this week but has been saving them for use to go together. Last weekend, all I saw was a gaddy hen on a MDC lake. Heading out tonight and not expecting much as Ike is pushing our weather north.

I will not vote for anyone that is anti-gun like him and that is based on his past voting record on issues. This is what the last line of my post said, not what you edited it to read.... Wait a minute, last night you said I had to read a link and the post tonight says I need to read a previous post. Was that the old Democrat change of words? Which post do you want me to read? I asked you to post it so I can read it and it will inform me. Seems like you could not even post the right info that is in my post. Obviously, you did not notice that I asked you for the link that will enlighten me as to his great plan, the magical secret that all Obama supporters seem to protect to the grave. You are right, discussion over, we don't need your kind of change.......

I moved this to another topic the other day but seems like nobody has seen it.

Talk about media scare, how much did gas go up in your town today? Ours went up 60 cents in one raise. I just talked to my cousin 80 miles outside of Galveston and it was not even raining yet.

He did come down and commemorate the World Shooting Complex at Sparta. But for the most part, Bagosh bloa itch or whatever his name is has been pretty worthless. Good thing he is across the big ditch.

Time to spray your house now, they are heading indoors for the winter. I killed one the other night in the bathroom.

No, I missed the Town Hall meeting and Governor Palin's interview. I was busy trying to figure out what to do this weekend with friends and trying to figure out this weather pattern. I can think for myself, I really don't think the country is in a mess and needs to be changed. I think that the tax system is broke and needs fixed. I think that government wastes alot of my tax dollars, and that they take enough of my money. I think that Obama is not a leader that can accomplish anything due to his lack of experience and qualifications. I will not vote for anyone that is anti-gun like him and that is based on his past voting record on issues. I really have not seen a link on here that shows his great message, post it again if you can find it and I will look at it unless it requires high speed internet. I am on dialup here and don't waste time on a large downloads. If you have been paying attention, I have been asking to see your side of the story, but I have not seen any posts that state why anyone should vote for him.

Boat Licensing
jdmidwest replied to mwfischer's topic in Tips & Tricks, Boat Help and Product Review
Interesting, have you ever questioned them about a salvage title. We obtained one on an abandoned vehicle one time from the local sheriff dept. My current boat was manufactured before they started titling boats. All of the equipment I purchased said it was 1974, but further research proved that it was all made in 1963 or 1964. -
Woof, did anyone notice all the rain heading this way for the weekend?

Pushed to a guy that promises to raise your taxes so the government can waste them away? Pushed to a guy that promises to cut the military and defense projects to balance a budget after we have just got it back to the Pre-Clinton years? Pushed to a guy that promises to sit down with the leaders of nations that want to see us fall and have a touchy feely with them and tell them we are wrong for wanting them to quit being terrorists when they threaten us with nuclear weapons and attacks? Where is the research and WHY IS HE YOUR MESSIAH? Why can't you come out and say in public on the forum why you want to see Obama President? Why can't any Obama supporter say why they want to see him President? What part of the statements above do you think is false and I have a wrong opinion of him about? What is the big secret that you can get only by listening to him stammer and studder if there are no cue cards? What is the secret agenda that makes him the Man? McCain is for tax control. McCain is for a strong military and will defend the country to the end. McCain wants to shake up the Congress and get us back on the path to controlling wasteful spending. He may be the one to stop some of the Partisan Politics that have stalemated government the past few years. He has the leadership ability and experience to be President and has an EXCELLENT Vice President to back him up. I feel there were better candidates in the Republican Party, Huckabee and Rudy come to mind, but McCain is proving himself to be a worthy opponent too. At this point we only have 2 choices and it is pretty easy to choose which one we need for the next 4 years. There is no law that states that you have to vote just because you belong to a certain political party. Duct tape is the one stop fix it all. Ranks right up there with superglue.

How can anyone vote when they have been on the campaign trail. I would hate to have one of my local congress persons out campaigning and not doing what I pay them for, taking care of my interests. Do Senators have a proxy during the campaign? I know Governors have an Attorney General and Presidents have a Vice President. Who fills in for the Senator? Of course, I was surprised that there have been 291 votes during Obama's short career in the Senate. That averages out to 143 days/291 votes, 2.034 votes per day. I never thought they worked that hard in Congress. They must count the Present votes when they take roll call at the start and the adjournment vote so they can go home a few hours later.........

Why are we stuck with a 2 party system anyway?

Amen to MrDucky. I am trembling in my waders to see such a blind following from someone with a tainted past, no agenda, and no experience at anything except Community Leadership. Was that a gang that he leaded before? I think the adage is "We fear those that don't know". Nobody seems to be able to tell us what Obama can do to save the country from its ruination.......
