  1. You were right about the fishing Scott, It turned out better than I had anticipated. We decided to go try the Osage since I haven't fished it yet this winter. The was was 43-44 degrees and pretty dingy. My buddy and I caught around a dozen bass, two crappie and 1 bluegill. He caught his PB river largemouth that weighed 4.19 on a shad rap. My biggest for the day was a 2.33 large mouth that I caught on a crappie jig after I decided to quit bass fishing and try for some crappie. Go figure!
  2. I hate typing on my phone. I meant Meramec Spring. Btw, it sucked! It was much better last weekend when it was cold and drizzling. I've never done very well on nice weekend days down there.
  3. Awesome trip! Maybe I will have a similar experience Sunday on the river. Hoping things will pick up since it will be the third day in a row of warm temps.nI'm setttling for the. Eramec again today though. Hopefully the crowds sleep in a few hours before showing up.
  4. Has any ody tried the BPS brand mushroom jigs for the NED? I have 't noticed any ody mention them unless I just overlooked it. I got a pack of the 1/16oz #1 hook BPS jigs and some of the 1/10 Finesse Shroomz jigs to try out. Hope to try my luck with the NED rig on some river smallies this Sunday.
  5. Dang Iphone turned the pic upside down.
  6. Here is what $138 bought me. I've also got $15 of mail in rebates for the line.
  7. As of now, St. Charles still had a bunch of the Pro Qualifiers according to the guy at the reel department. I'd leave work and go now, but I promised a buddy I would wait for him to get off work to run down so he could tag along. Hopefully that doesn't bite me in the butt.
  8. Hmmm....well that sucks. I guess I better give them a call before I head down there then.
  9. I know the $50 Pro Qualifier reels are an in store only deal. I'm going to drive an hour and a half to BPS after work to hopefully snag a few. That's really the only thing in the flyer than peaks my interest. Also, I may grab a spool of Stren Original since it's so cheap. I've always been a Trilene XL/XT guy.

This winter hasn't been nearly as bad as last years. It's actually been nice enough to get outside and do something fun so cabin fever has held off longer than usual.

Don't misinterpret what he means. We've had some pretty heated arguments in the past over this type of thing. Now he buys me beer at smallmouth seminars. LOL. He's a good dude and I definitely agree with what he said. He only means well. I don't gig as much as I used to, but I just can't stand to ban something because of a few idiots. When I do take new folks, I make sure they have somebody experienced besides them. Another big thing to keep them from sticking illegal fish is to keep them in water that more than likely will not hold any game fish. Areas with current and not much cover are perfect. Suckers still like these areas, but your bass and other fish will most likely be in deeper water with cover. About the only game fish we may come across are a walleye or a catfish and those SHOULD be very obvious. Accidents are going to happen from time to time, but it's been a rare occurrence in the past several years when I've been gigging with folks. I just wish the punishments were WAY more severe for people that purposely go out and poach fish and game. When all you lose is a couple hundred bucks and then you can get right back in the saddle and do it again, that's no much of a reason to worry about getting caught. A few hundred bucks is nothing to most folks. Make the punishment severe enough that people actually think twice before doing illegal activities.

Sure, ban gigging because one boat out of 100 poaches illegal fish. Better outlaw all forms of hunting and fishing while we're at it since there are poachers involved with those as well. That would only be fair since I am sure there have been WAY more instances of over harvesting with a rod and reel than with a gig pole. Punishing the good majority for the bad minority is stupid. Even if gigging was banned, my bet is the poachers would still be out doing it. They are already breaking the law so what is to stop them from breaking a different law?
  14. Are you just needing something to save waypoints? Navionics gives you depth contours on most of the bigger bodies of water, but doesn't have anything for creeks and small rivers.
  15. I use the Navionics and GPS Fish apps for saving waypoints and mapping. I'll eventually get a good mapping chip for my graph, but the $10 Navionics app used in conjunction with my 998 does a decent job. It just requires you to hold a phone in one hand and drive with the other.
  16. An anglers on crappie.com posted a limit of nice slabs he caught around Cape Fair yesterday.

I'm sure it will be little more than a slap on the wrist.

I ask myself that everytime I hear of this type of crap. You can catch bass all year long so I look forward to gigging season so I can get the suckers. Fried sucker is better than all but a few fish. Some people just have to be dirtbags and break the rules.

  20. Killer day guys! Hope they are biting that well for me when I make it back out on the water.
  21. I'm about 99% sure on the single console thing. There aren't many good pictures showing the passenger side.
  22. Looks like a single judging from other photos on his FB page.
  23. Our orange house cat thinks her goal in life is to find every hair band in the house, pick them up and put them in the animals water dish. She also thinks that instead of drinking straight from the dish, she has to put both front paws in it and then lick the water off of her paws. She's taken a spill in the bath tub while my fiance soaked in the tub on more than one occasion as well. I've never seen a cat that tolerated water as well as her.
  24. Pro blue when it's bright and clear. Elegy Bone when it's cloudy and clear. I've also got a deadly black illusion I think it's called, which is gold and black for when it's cloudy with a little color but I haven't used it much so can't really comment on how well it works. The other two are producers for sure though.
