Never put my hands on one and no it’s not worth $1,100 😄

Those are some beauties! Like the size too. I’ve got a Lodge griddle but it won’t reach across two burners on my stove.

I took myself to Roaring River one day and it turned out to be Kids Fishing Day. I vowed never to do THAT again

I built a 9 foot 8 weight on a Loomis blank and it's my primary rod for bass in still water. Have never used it for trout though. I think that's a bit big for most trout situations. Agree on a floating line with add-on sinking leaders.

Flank steak marinated in soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, lime juice and pepper. Grilled over charcoal. Red and yellow bell peppers and onion done in a hot cast iron skillet. Flour tortillas lightly grilled to add some color. Like my fajitas with a little sour cream and green salsa.

Shrimp marinated in some olive oil, garlic, red pepper flakes, salt and pepper done on the grill. Fried green tomatoes-2/1 flour/cornmeal, salt, cayenne. Flour/egg/flour dredge. Roasted taters and rosemary. Ketchup, mayonnaise and tobacco sauce. Plate coulda used some color but it all tasted pretty good.

Most of our flowers are in pots. Spikes, petunias, gladiolus, sweet potato and some others I think. Got them interspersed with herbs in pots. Oregano, marjoram, thyme, parsley, chives, dill, sage and basil.

There's a lot of folks in the Ozarks that can barely speak English. At least not the dialect I speak As far as Mennonite and Amish -- they often speak 'Pennsylvania Dutch' which is a dialect of German with some English mixed in. There's a community of Amish in and around Jamesport, MO and we visit occasionally. The Amish, in general, are reluctant to speak to outsiders. Amish merchants will talk in English about as much as necessary but not a lot more, and they have a noticeable accent. Not sure if they speak English at home. Women rarely talk to visitors and kids never do, in my experience. Out and about it's kinda hard to know who's who. Old Order Amish and Old Order Mennonites both avoid technology and dress plain -- muted colors, always a beard and hat on men, bonnets on women. There are lots of Mennonites in rural KS -- presumably not Old Order -- and you'll see them driving cars, shopping, etc. They'll have more colorful but still plain clothes and seem to interact more freely with others.

Seafood too. Can’t get wine or liquor anywhere in crazy KS except a liquor store. We go to a Costco in MO fairly regularly though and always get wine.

We had a hankerin’ fer steak this week so we picked through all the steaks at the store and finally found a nicely marbled t-bone. Minced some rosemary from the garden and tossed some potato wedges in olive oil and rosemary. Roasted the potatoes and grilled the t-bone over charcoal to medium rare. Painted the steak with rosemary steeped in butter. Side of IA corn on the cob to top things off. Dang! The dawgs love steak night and behave well 😄

Spent the weekend in eastern Iowa at a family reunion. Saw lots and lots and lots of beautiful fields and tidy farms the last couple days. After the reunion we went on a quest for sweet corn to bring back home. The timing was a little off but we asked around and found a guy selling it late in the day in Maquoketa. Good dude who was fun to talk to. Wish he wasn’t 6+ hours away! Brought a bunch home in the cooler, blanched it, cut it off he cob and froze it. Hard to get it into the freezer bags because I kept eating it along the way😄. Got it done and saved a few days worth to eat off the cob. We grabbed a nice, ripe Cherokee Purple and a bunch of Sungolds from the garden, and diced them onto some whole fat cottage cheese. Boiled a few cobs of the super tender corn for just a few minutes and pulled it all together for a great summer meal. Summer perfection!!

Been looking into that myself after chatting with him. Read some things on the internet about doing it in the oven at 250. Sliced up some, put them on a stainless steel rack and gave it a whirl. Some charred completely black in just a couple hours. Could try 200 but thinking about investing in a dehydrator. Any advice anyone?

I’ve got a bunch of ping pong ball sized onions. Need try grilling them.

Absolutely! Didn't let mine sit a long time, but there was a quite a bit of oil in the olive salad to soak into the bread. We warmed ours slightly. We also used a ciabatta. I got a hankerin' for one now!

I just ran it by the World Culinary Commission. We're gonna give you a pass on the mashed capers Do you serve yours cold?

I'd like to chip in. I think I've got a couple pairs of smaller waders, boots and vests that my kids outgrew years ago. Might have an old Pfleuger reel too. And an old rod or two also, including the 'War Club' . Need to go through that stuff anyway so this gives me a reason to do it. Here's a picture of ness 2.3 demonstrating that said waders work in reverse: And here's his technique for emptying them out: PM me your address. Give me a week or two -- my to-do list is long at the moment.
